Liberals never stop to amaze me. It is like because someone gets elected their whole life goes to hell. Why is it that you think the government is smarter than you? Dont you think you can make better decisions for yourself then the government? If you do not then you are basically a child. Then I get it and it explains the amount of crying going on over Trump. A lot of us hated Obama because of his liberal agenda but you know what? We went to work everyday and went on with our lifes. I did not see one anti Obama protest where there was violence and looting. Maybe I missed it.
Show me one liberal city that is not in a financial crisis and that has a ton of gun violence. Just one.
The USPS is billions in the hole. Fed EX seams to do very well. Wonder why?
Social Security is a total mess and I will never see it by the time I retire.
Obamacare? Yea well it is going to collapse on its own no matter what anyone does. It is a total disaster. Well that is unless you do not work and get it for free. That is better than having no insurance even though before you would just go to the ER and just never pay for it. Premiums are as high as 2000 a month or more for some people. Then the deductible is so high it is completely useless. Can you afford 2000 a month for horrible insurance? I bet most of you can not.
Socialism only "works" (never has worked but for argumentative sake) if YOUNG people are productive to make up for the slack of the people who wont work, the old and the unable to work. You will never be able to take all the money away from the rich and successful (liberals love that) and be able to sit on your ass and do nothing. Statistically if you took away all the money from the top 5% and gave it to the 95% within 5-10 years the 5% will take it right back. Why? Because they are the top 5% for a reason. They know how to work smart, take risks, know how to solve problems on their OWN, and for damn sure if they fail they do not blame everyone else they get up and try again.
The other thing Liberals forget about is that small business is what runs this country. Without it then thier is no country. I own one and have ran it for 12 years now. I have been to the hospital with a pulse of 250 from stress of running this thing. I have been through hell and back trying to keep it alive and grow it. I pay high taxes, health insurance sucks and it is impossible at times to find people that will work.
I can go on and on but taxes, health care and seeing what a business man can do with the country is why Trump won and having Hillary be the face of your party just sealed the deal.
I also would say that I find it funny when Canadians and Europeans pipe in and say how bad America is or how bad Trump is. You do know that your socialistic systems are on the verge of collapse right? Why is that if you need the best of health care or education they come here?
So instead of crying in your beers get up and do something about it. Go start a business or work harder. Go get a better degree, surround yourself with successful people. Ask people with money how they became successful. You would be amazed how many times I have asked a very successful person how they made it they tell me "mo one has ever asked me that before". Stop depending on other people to solve your own damn problems especially not elected officials who DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU.
Disclaimer:
I have no problem helping people that need help to get back on their feet. It is the ones that are fully able but choose not to better themselves that are the problem.

Disclaimer: I have no problem helping people that need help to get back on their feet. It is the ones that are fully able but choose not to better themselves that are the problem. To be a "Liberal" is to believe in the freedom of the individual, with minimal inteference from the state. In the States it seems to have become a catch all phrase for anyone who isn't a Republican. But the USA is a liberal country by almost any definition. Sorry to break that to you. Believing healthcare is a basic human right and should be based on need not the ability to pay isn't a controversial idea - it's how it works in the vast majority of European Countries. And btw, it works pretty well. The rest of your post is bizarre. Because you contradict yourself. You say you bust a gut running your business (which i'm sure you do), then blame the government for the fact you're not as rich as you think you could be, then go on to say that anyone who wants to get richer should simply work harder and stop blaming the government. So does that include you or not? Yes, the individual has the responsibility to work hard. But if you do work hard, whatever job you do, you should be able to live comfortably. If everyone "bettered themselves" who would serve your coffee, or collect your garbage? Do those people not deserve a half decent quality of life? You shouldn't have to "better yourself" to afford basic human provisions like food - which is a situation millions of very hard working people find themselves in all over the world. Why? Because the wealth is concentrated in the top 5% and they are simply too greedy to let it trickle down. And the worst thing is, most of that wealth is inherited (just like Donalds) or made off the backs of poorer people. This idea that believing that wealth should be re-distributed makes you lazy is ridiculous. I think the Nurse at your local hospital should be paid a bit more and the hedge fund manager should have one less Ferrari - and that means i must sit on my backside all day doing nothing. Laughable Some people don't judge their own or other peoples success solely on how much money they might have. But if that's the American psyche then all of sudden Trump winning makes an awful lot of sense. Even though he barely earnt a penny of it. btw - most people don't have a problem with Trump because he's a Republican (although he's not really) It's because he's an idiot. It's because he's incompetent. It's because he's vulgar.

Butthurt much?
A/ Nobody forced you to click on this thread entitled "donald trump is a terrible human". The thread didn't come after you and make you try and escape it. YOU decided to click on it, knowing damn well what was inside
B/ This is the off topic forum. ie the bit of the forum that isn't about fantasy golf. That makes Donald Trump, Chairman Mao, Little Miss Piggy, Homer Simpson and everything else a totally legitimate topic of conversation
C) It's interesting that you're pissed off that someone doesn't want to see yet another forum poisoned by the hate and negativity of politics. What's poisoned? All i see is a relatively robust discussion. No name calling. No personal attacks (but only because i don't consider being called a Liberal an insult ). No hate.

Disclaimer: I have no problem helping people that need help to get back on their feet. It is the ones that are fully able but choose not to better themselves that are the problem. 5 of the Top 10 economies in the World are socialist. Seems like both systems can work pretty effectively to me. However the socialist ones ensure that there is always a safety net - which we're both agreed is a good thing. And sure that means that some lazy people to abuse it - but it's a small price to pay imho - the benefit fraud figures are minuscule in national budget terms ....and totally dwarfed by tax avoidance by the big multinationals. The flip side is that neo-capitalism cuts that "dead flesh" away.... but unfortunately also a lot of the really genuine cases Austerity measures in the UK alone are costing tens of thousands of lives... theconversation.com/sharp-rise-in-uk-mortality-rate-may-be-due-to-austerity-measures-72984I'm not anti-capitalist, but I am truly a liberal. The two are not mutually exclusive. I just think the governments should constrain big business and make them contribute back to the society from which they take so much - public educated workers, publicly funded infrastructure etc. They pay nowhere near the level you hardworking small business owners pay. And that's what I think people really want fixed.... this...

I like the argument that talking politics is good. Like someone is going to come in here and lay out an argument and I'm going to be like, "you know what, I am now on the Dem bandwagon." Fu@$ everything I personally believed in for the past however many years, an Internet forum poster on a golf site changed my mind. The fact is politics is ingrained in strong inherited or learned values and beliefs. I'm talking major party platform issues here. "Discussing" politics (which isn't happening here) is never a good idea because all it is is strong beliefs being argued and eventually leads to harsh comments when others don't agree. Which will always be circular because opposite sides will NEVER agree. So let this go.
Edit***Except for the last post, that was factual and civil.

I think most posts have maintained an air of civility tbh, sometime robust as Jacko has pointed out, but that's all good - no snowflakes here You're right to a degree - not many will be changing their mind. But that doesn't mean the discussion is worthless. I enjoyed reading Paul M's post despite not agreeing with much of it - seeing the contra view is valuable, has merit. But then... that's a very liberal thing to believe

The sooner we stop the self-division among ourselves by instantly placing people we don't agree with into little insult boxes, the better off we will all be. Ok, next, >> "Show me one liberal city that is not in a financial crisis and that has a ton of gun violence. Just one." - Ok, you asked for "just one", here ya go. Reno, Nevada. There's plenty more but since you asked for one, you got it. So what say you now? >> "The USPS is billions in the hole. Fed EX seams to do very well. Wonder why?" No idea why this is here, has nothing to do with Trump unless you believe he (alone) will fix it? Again, what do you expect Trump to do about it? Interested to hear this and along with what if he does nothing about it? >> Social Security - been a problem for a long time. This is not a party issue. And it works well. It can also be scalable despite what other people may say. The fact that Republicans decided to d1ck it from day one simply because it was a plan set forth by the other party instead of their own is shameful. And that is the only reason why it is collapsing. Obviously Republicans cannot even get on the same page within their own party to put forth a worthwhile healthcare bill, how could anyone expect them to work with anyone outside the party to get it done? Same question as before: What do you expect Trump to do about it? Interested to hear this and along with what if he does nothing? > Socialism. No one is supporting a change to a socialist government. Some programs may appear to be that way because they share the procedures but that doesn't make the government socialist. Straw man crap here. > Small businesses. Definitely the heart and soul of this country. If your business is sending you to the hospital several times with stress levels that high, you may want to think about selling it. But again, I have to put this forth - What do you expect Trump to do about it? > Other Countries Chiming In > The perception and confidence the rest of the world has in America is important. Extremely important. It matters. Will leave it there. > "So instead of crying in your beers get up and do something about it. Go start a business or work harder. Go get a better degree..." I find this a bit insulting and way out of touch. I don't subscribe to any party, I'm not a Dem, Republican or anything else. I'm just an American and that comes first to me instead of a party's agenda. Some people call me independent but "non-affiliated" is actually correct. I hold ALL of them responsible, regardless of party. Of course i've heard the BS crap that if you aren't Republican then you are just another liberal. The ignorance makes me laugh since I support strong military, Voters showing IDs, Welfare recipients taking drug tests along with other items that are viewed as conservative. I also support pro-choice, universal healthcare, allowing ANYONE who is willing and able to serve in our military and legal marijuana. The stream of logic I get is that since the latter is "liberal", then everything else irrelevant. WTH? Lol. At the end of the day, I only ask of Trumps supporters to tell me why they still support in and what do they expect from him? So far, I've seen NOTHING about what they expect from him. Just a bunch of railroading against those who are critical of him. BTW, I'm saving the Russian crap for another time, will wait to see what Mueller finds.

I believe I can do more with my time and money than the government can. You are stuck on what is Trump going to do to fix this or that. That is not why people voted for him. People voted for him because they want to fix the country with hard work and the freedom to do so without the government taxing and regulating everything thing we do. I am giving the guy a chance. He did not need to do this. He had a very nice life. He has lost a lot of his freedoms by doing this and put a lot of pressure on his family and himself that he didn't need. To be honest you have to be a little nuts to want to be President anyways. No matter what you do you are wrong. Look how much they age when they leave office. The best part is I am liberal in a lot of areas. I do not judge people by thier race, religion or gender. All I care about is the ability to keep my family safe and to give my two boys a better life than I had. In my world that takes money. No matter who is President it is my job to try and make that happen. Ohh and I have thought about selling it when my pulse was 250 and I had to have my heart cardioverted with electricity. Problem is the capital gain is way to high( more taxes!) and it is complex because my parents started the business so if I do sell I have to consider thier financial well being. Ok that's it for me. No more political talk on a game forum. I can only imagine what goes on Facebook and Twitter. Glad I am not in those.

Incredibly off base in a lot of areas here and I'm going to address them. But first, let's talk about the way that post starts, "Liberals.....". This "left vs right" divisiveness needs to end. This is a lack-of-action-by congress problem on all sides. What do you expect Trump to do about it? Interested to hear this and along with what if he does nothing? >> Obamacare - This essentially was the framework based on Romney's Massachusetts health care bill, its rooted in the conservative scheme of things. I guess you did not understand what I said. I did not vote for Trump to solve my problems. I voted for him so I can make myself and family better by having less government regulations. That is the nut of it. No more political talk on a game forum. I can only imagine what goes on Facebook and Twitter. Glad I am not in those. Absolutely appreciate this response. That's a solid reply right there. The important part to me, in regards to the topic, is "People voted for him because they want to fix the country with hard work and the freedom to do so without the government taxing and regulating everything thing we do." Yep, that is spot on. But saying that as a candidate (and even while in office) to the country and actually having the capability to do so is where my opinion on this President sits. Yes, having to pay less tax wherever we can is nice. There is a serious effect to consider - if you are reducing revenue to the government, how do we continue to pay for things such as our military, VA services, present/upcoming infrastructure, etc.? His tax plan removes an incredible amount of revenue. "If you are single and earn less than $25,000, or married and jointly earn less than $50,000, you will not owe any income tax. T hat removes nearly 75 million households – over 50% – from the income tax rolls. They get a new one page form to send the IRS saying, “I win,” those who would otherwise owe income taxes will save an average of nearly $1,000 each." >> assets.donaldjtrump.com/trump-tax-reform.pdfThat's just the personal income tax portion. The reductions on the business side will also play a part. It takes a lot of money to run and defend this country. If he's going to rollback incoming cash, I need to know how we are going to pay for ourselves. The web link above, the bottom of page 3 is "The Trump tax cuts are fully paid for by:" and tries to say how. But nothing there is a longterm solution for revenue. It may carry for a year or two but the bills our country has to pay are every year. There seems to be a huge gap of information missing for this getting this money. The notion that he is going to roll with trickle down economics again is disappointing. We know from living it already that it does not work. Caused some big league problems It's the lack of foresight that troubles me. That concern is across the board with Trump, not just this tax reform. This is why I do not support him, because I don't support his ideas. I even think some of them are extremely dangerous for us in the foreign affairs theater.

Politician is the only job in the world where experience in the industry is somehow considered a bad thing.
During the 2016 election cycle, the biggest amount of problems that Hillary Clinton faced was the mistakes she made over her 30-year political career. Worst of those was her incredibly poor decision making regarding the American Consulate in Benghazi, and the 30 thousand missing e-mails that were deleted from her private e-mail server. No one knows the contents of those e-mails - or at least, the details haven't been made public. This is shady business, but not exactly unprecedented, as the former Secretary of State, Colin Powell, utilized personal e-mail to conduct official business.
Never before have I been so engaged in politics. I live in New York City, a deep-blue city in a blue state. It's always been an afterthought because whoever has a (D) next to his name is going to win in a landslide. This year, I am angered at the members of my party for thrusting out Secretary Clinton and hiding Senator Sanders in the background, casting him off as a socialist lunatic. Even if he couldn't win the primary, I wanted to hear more of his ideas. I'm only getting that now, a year too late.
I cannot stand Donald Trump. I don't like his policies, in general, but I've never really agreed with Republican policies. I've respected all other Republican politicians because, while I didn't agree with them, I believed they had my country's best interests at heart. When it comes to our current president, I don't feel that way. He is divisive. He turns the choice of news that I watch into a political affiliation. He accuses news outlets of lying - about everything (how ironic). He behaves like a buffoon. He lies. And he lies some more. He seeks adoration and then he lies some more.
Donald Trump criticized President Obama at every turn. He wasn't American. He played too much golf. He goes on too many vacations. His healthcare sucks. Now, he's only occupied with eliminating whatever Obama did without regard to whether it's right for my country and its people. We're building a wall. At our own expense. We're cutting taxes for the rich (the Estate Tax). We're slashing regulations and destroying government agencies - such as the FDA and the EPA, agencies charged with upholding safety standards in our foods, medicines, air, water. We're slashing budget to education. We're slashing budget to affordable housing. We are attempting to re-write the healthcare code so that fewer (sick) people have health insurance. We're basically taking money, safety, medicines, and education away from the poor and giving more money to the rich.
I work two jobs and my wife works. We are swimming in a sea of student loan debt thanks, in large part, to a clerical error made 20 years ago when my wife, an honors student, received a letter that she had been given a large grant which turned out to be an error. Three years ago, I lost my job. COBRA insurance coverage ran in the thousands of dollars per month for a family of 3. Luckily, my state - a deeply-Democratic state - has a strong healthcare plan and food assistance program for the poor and unfortunate. Thankfully, I was back to work in 7 weeks. I consider myself extremely lucky, but I can't say that I wasn't scared to death about any extended time out of work. Six months and I'd have lost my house.
I have a special needs child who requires assistance at school. She's so damn smart, but she has trouble in school and in other social situations because of Sensory Processing Disorder. My state's government provides funds for "Universal Pre-Kindergarten" which is essentially public school for 4 year olds. Basically, my daughter went to preschool for free, alleviating a cost I could not afford. In addition, based on her needs, my state provides funding for a special assistant teacher to help her remain focused at school. These are publicly funded programs, paid for with tax dollars distributed by the Federal Government. She is entering first grade now, and she earned the highest math grades in her class last year. I'm not sure where she would be academically without the extra assistance.
These are programs that matter. They matter to me as an individual busting my ass 60 hours a week so I can write software to help a very large company complete its business operations more efficiently (that's corporate speak for "without hiring any expensive workers") and save money so it can be paid out to its stockholders as dividends. These programs matter to me because the jobs that are eliminated are the unskilled jobs, and they'll be replaced by skilled jobs that require a secondary education - one that is absurdly expensive.
Our Republican government wants to cut funding for important programs and reduce the tax burden on those folks who don't feel a burden in the first place.
This doesn't even consider the President's terrible social policies and disgusting rhetoric. Unfortunately, removal of the President by impeachment won't help much because we have that other louse, Mike Pence as the Vice President whose ideas are also disgusting, and probably has the competence to enact some of them.

I should also point out that, while President Trump may be incompetent, a jerk, and just plain bad (all opinions), he hasn't done anything that is illegal. That's important to note. That we don't like his actions isn't grounds for impeachment. Unless something comes back from "that Russia thing," we're stuck with him until at least 2020.
