Exactly. I think TGC2 has done a good job in adding the uncertainty but it was never going to bring down scoring to real golf levels without making it far too difficult for most players. They wes obviously aware that most players would be frustrated with the hardier difficult and hence put in the easier swing modes but please don't bring up that whole arguement again.
But that could have been the route to go: Make Tour Clubs hard, make player clubs medium hard, and standard clubs easy. I am not a good player but score well under par the last weeks - 11 under was my best round in the game. If birdie is expected to not loose a shot, it takes a little away from the immersion of playing golf. Some shots should be harder to judge (pitch, chip, flop). Being able to shortside yourself is missing. Some vital golf aspects simply aren't in the game. As i said: it is still fun to play. But the low scores are the proof that the sim element in TGC2 still is severly lacking. I find all of those shots difficult and I'm not scoring anywhere near -11, maybe -8 on easy courses. For me difficulty it's just right but I know what you mean about sim elements.

Only considerind realism of gameplay/physics/difficulty Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf (PC only) is a bit closer to real golf. Winning scores on the hardest difficulty level there normally are between -25 to -35 (depending on the course and conditions).
TGC2 has better graphics and animations though.

While probably an anomoly, I think the PGA event this first week will have a winning score in that range, probably in the low -30s.

We play a lot of real courses at the tournament website of Perfect Golf. My examples come from those tournaments (Augusta,Medinah,Firestone,etc.).
Scores with TGC2 on these courses in general are way lower.
But as i said: TGC2 is still a lot of fun for me. I wish that some shots would be represented in the game in a more realistic manner (ball physics, difficulty of execution). But it's absolutely no gamebreaker.
