Any one else having trouble with flop shots. I used to rely on them within 40 yards of the green. However 25 yard carry flop shot going 67 yards now. Am i doing something wrong ?

What clubs are you using? Flop seems ok to me on tour. You need to have a good tempo though or it goes pear shaped

Using pitching wedges , lob wedges etc. On TGC1 the PW set on flop used to go around 35 yards and then spin back on a full hit. Now I don't know whats happening. If cant sort it will have to learn to chip better and abandon the flop

Are you deloftng / lofting the shot purposely? If so, you may have gone the wrong direction. The only thing I noticed is the 25 may be 27. Also, though I haven't confirmed it, I have read that a downhill lie may influence flight/distance , but not 42 yards worth. Good luck.

Anyway, I would try to avoid using loft to change distance. Instead, work on taking a partial swing. Also take note of your lie, an the uphill/downhill slope can have drastic effects.

This has been mentioned in another thread. Trust me. You skull-@!$#ed it! Just like IRL. You hit it right in the forehead! I'm gonna hit the HB devs in the forehead

Yeah. I'm not mad it being in the game, but it seems so random when it decides to show up.

The only problem I had so far is if I have a Fast downsing for example on a 25 yard flop, it could go 55 yards.
Tempo seem to be even more crucial for these shots.

Yes. I had the same thing yesterday..Like I've seen posted I think the tempo is really important but an extra 25 yards seems excessive, maybe not? It happened to me to though I know for tgc1 certain shots close to green and bunker I wouldn't backswing all the way & the ball would do what youd think with the inputs. That's a real golf swing/technique though right?{not bringing backswing all the way back n lighten up the power}-in tgc2 I dint think that's possible- I never played 18 holes.

Fast tempo on flop=skull
At first I didn't like it, but a flop is supposed to be a high risk precision shot to be used sparingly, not an automatic up and down from 35 yards in.
I'm fine with it now.

Funny. The tempo thing. Slow downswing on a drive and you slice the ball 30 yards right. Slow downswing on a FLOP and it goes just a bit right of target, but distance is close. Fast downswing on a driver, you hook the ball anywhere from 10-40 yards left (right hander). Fast downswing on a flop the ball travels at least twice the distance it should have. So when flopping, in my experience, best to have a perfect downswing (of course), but if off tempo on the downstroke, you better be slow, not fast!!!

Far from being a "go to shot" - a high risk flop/lob is the last resort for any pro golfer.
HB nailed it in that regard - if I leave myself 20-40 yards with no way of getting it running to the pin it means I've made a mistake in how I've played the hole.
My advice would be to forget everything you did in TGC1 and avoid the flop at all costs

Ive got the flop nailed down quite well, havent skulled one yet, that said i agree with you Jack, leaving a pitch is far more controllable.
