Check the lie. Don't hit a flop on a downhill lie. Just like IRL, bad things happen when you try that one. Skull city. But awesome to pull one off! I'm still not sure just how intricate the TGC2 swing is. Some days it feels simplistic, some days deep.

Tour clubs here. If you hit "perfect" the downswing, flop shots are accurate and stop fast (even from the rough). If not, better be ready to fly over the green....or worse.

Far from being a "go to shot" - a high risk flop/lob is the last resort for any pro golfer.
HB nailed it in that regard - if I leave myself 20-40 yards with no way of getting it running to the pin it means I've made a mistake in how I've played the hole.
My advice would be to forget everything you did in TGC1 and avoid the flop at all costs unless it was a par 5 that could almost be reached in two

The flops are wierd, not like real flops at all, more like a standard vanilla pitch with a 60deg from a tight lie.
They have a way to aggressive flight and bounce to be true flops.
And that spin form the rough - arcade bullshit.

Flops absolutely spin way too much. They should come out high and land soft with some roll out, the standard flop reacts like a well struck bunker splash shot which is entirely unrealistic

I do love a splash with a bit of zip.
IRL - a good wedge, soft bunker, no regards for control and an upslope to land in = nirvana.

Its down to your swing tempo of your down swing. Slow or perfect is good but fast will send it a lot futher than what you want.

Any one else having trouble with flop shots. I used to rely on them within 40 yards of the green. However 25 yard carry flop shot going 67 yards now. Am i doing something wrong ? Next time this happens check a replay of your shot, and see whether your club selection on the replay is what you actually set the shot up as. This game has habit of defaulting back to the original club selection after you've hit your shot. I am losing on average 3 shots a round with what you mentioned above happening to me. The last time this happened I changed the default 75 yard pitch shot to a normal shot, and Because I'm well aware of this frequently happening, before I hit the ball I checked my shot selection hadn't changed. My shot flew passed the pin and into the water at the back of the green, my tempo P/P. Checked the replay, and the game had defaulteded back to a pitch shot, or never accepted my normal shot selection in the first place. I've tried turning automatic shot selection off, but this made no deference. OH MAN - I'm glad somebody else has witnessed this. I'll look at the replay next time because this ha happened like 5 times.

When you turn Automatic Shot Selection to off the game will always naturally default to the driver, even when you find yourself in a bunker. But the annoying thing here is, whenever you select a replay of your shot, the replay always shows you used a driver, even if you hit your next shot with a SW. So if your shot never reacted the way you thought it should, it's pointless checking a replay to see where you went wrong because it never shows your shot selection. Another bug with the game.

Personally I've almost totally abandoned the Flop unless I'm in a bunker/short sided.
If I have green to work inside 30 yards with i'll always use the chip - great fun trying to judge the spin/release and I've gotten pretty good at it.
Highly satisfying when you pull it off - less chance of it going wrong and more chance of holing it IMO

Flops have been completely unplayable for me since the patch (PS4). Anyone else notice changes? I have no major tempo issues on any other swing type, and was ok with flops until the patch.

Tempo is more fickle after the patch for me. I get a range from very fast to very slow and cannot really feel the difference in my swing.
