Yes, it's a HUGE improvement that the ball doesn't stick to the heavy rough or sand like velcro anymore. I've had a few that have landed in the heavy rough off the tee and actually rolled back INTO the fairway if the slope allowed. That is definitely more realistic than in TGC1 for sure. I think they took the glue that was on the heavy rough in TGC1 and moved it to the leaves in TGC2.

The only gripe I have about fairway bunkers is how deep a lot of them are. Fairway bunkers are typically more shallow irl to offer a more difficult shot than hitting the fairway but not so tall you have to worry about the ball coming out too low and hitting the lip (unless you are very close to the lip)

I am having the same problem and hitting most shots well left with the tempo either to slow or to fast on player then I upgraded all my clubs/shafts & grips to the most expensive and found a major diffence between them and the default set and not only has the tempo has dramatically improved but their much more forgiving ( example. on the driving range I was struggling to keep the ball anywhere near straight usually outside of 20 yards left even with a good shot but now hitting a bad shot only takes it 10 yards left max ) #placebo HB has said, in so many words, there is no performance difference among the equipment options available for coins. None.

God I hated the older Tiger games where you went through the training, earned points, played some rounds on career mode, earned points, and within 2 weeks were fully maxed out on everything. And all of a sudden you could hit 50's drunk, and 40's sober.
Of the folks that are now able to hit tour clubs and score well with them (me included), would like to see the dispersion between PC, PS4 and XB1. I know there are folks on all three platforms that are scoring with these clubs, and not hitting straight lines. But keeping in the cone more often than not. Those that are not able to play this game with tour clubs, because the cone dispersion is wildly all over the place, I cannot help but think there is something else at play that is causing issues, whether its the internet connection, server connection, or whatever. I certainly am not pompous enough to sit here and say I just have more skill at moving a joystick than you. But if I were in that group who is having such problems, I would be screaming for answers or at least for somebody to look into it...and I would be playing with player clubs in the meantime.
thats me!!! Screaming and getting the shits. I doubt I will play TGCTours if it remains like this. Missing the way it was.

When will there be a decision regarding clubs?

I hit a 280 yd 3wd the other day using Tour clubs. Yes, it was wind aided and slightly downhill, but that just seems like a long way to hit a 3wd. I'm liking Tour clubs, but I can't help but wonder if they are too long at times.

That is the benefit of using the tour clubs, you may have to sacrifice accuracy sometimes but get the distance, which in my eyes is well worth it. If designers start making courses that suit this game, then you should see the tour clubs coming into their own, and the players willing to learn to play with them should reap the rewards.

I hit a 280yds 3w last week, IRL... Not carry, but it caught a speed-slot perfectly.
This game captures that part of the game perfectly imo.

I think a huge part of players club playing way easier than tour clubs are the current rough and fairway bunker settings in the game.
With players clubs you are not in that situation very often. With Tour Clubs though if you miss the fairway by 2-3 yards you are more or less shot. Most of the time (when the approach is longer than 140-150 yards or when you are on a sidehill/uphill/downhill lie) it is brutally hard to hit the green with your second shot. It is way, way harder as it should be - but it is the current and maybe future state of the game.
If your swing is only a little off with Tour Clubs you are struggling making pars. Players clubs don't play that way. To hit a fairway with them is way easier, from there you hit the green way easier and you avoid bogeys or even worse scores withou even thinking about it. Feels almost like TGC1.
Imo they are not "choices of different clubs" but without a question different difficulty levels. If a patch would bring down the absurd penalties for playing out of primary rough and fairway bunkers it would then be a different story.

If a patch would fix the game we could really have a constructive debate on which clubs are better. Period

At least this thread is still better than the HB Studios forum threads where they want to ban people based purely on their scores and make Tour mode much harder so that nobody shoots well.

Yea, that HB forum is something else. Unfortunately, I think HB has listened way to much to that group and made a game where the cheating accusations will be endless. Relatively calm here in comparison, but I suspect once the tours start back up we're going see that here.
