If the staff here are getting API data, I would think they are using it within the Society tournaments to help them shape their direction. That and the posts on the forums that do not get way off topic. Good point and yes I'd hope they make judgements based on actual data rather than gut feelings. I'd still like to know tho, so will continue to collect stats if they come in for public knowledge.

One thing I read a couple pages back that sticks in my craw.
Someone asked it there were two players, one using the player clubs and one using the tour clubs and the guy/gal with the player clubs won by 1 stroke, who played better.
Not going to get in to who PLAYED better (but if you read on my opinion becomes clear). But if the guy/gal using player clubs plays them because they cannot or will not learn to use tour clubs, then there is no question, the guy/gal that finished one stroke back using tour clubs IS THE BETTER PLAYER. Not just that day but overall. Because that person (person using tour clubs) can easily do what the person with the player clubs did, but the person using the player clubs CANNOT do what the person with tour clubs did. Because TGCT is based on a WGR system, this is a problem in my mind.
I do not see any way to make all happy in this game with the different difficulty settings (errr...I mean club sets). If I were an admin, I would probably mandate a set of clubs be used for each tournament, and would change it up each week. One week it would be tour clubs on a fairly wide, long course from the back tees. Next week it would be a middle course with lots of hazards and more difficult greens using player clubs off the blue tees. And the following week, maybe a fantasy course with several holes that you have to hit something other than a driver to hit the fairway, lots of wind, etc. And mandate standard clubs off the red or green tees for that..
That way, depending on your strengths, and weaknesses, you have a good chance of competing in a given week (some more than others), but your WGR rating hinges on you being able to somewhat master all three styles of play.

The above nails it on the head imo. And that's a valid and viable suggestion, limiting or opening the different modes on a given week. It will undoubtedly cause more arguments and headaches, but it'll also allow those who "don't like" the Tour mode to still compete in certain tournaments.
I just don't buy the idea the two modes are "styles" of play rather than difficulty levels. Let's call a spade a spade. I do suggest playing a tough course (Oakmont, Magnolia) from the tips in two consecutive rounds trying both modes. It might change your perspective as it did mine.
Both modes are unrealistic because this is a VIDEO GAME and not real golf, but for me the bottom line is that a good round in Tour mode is light years more impressive than the same score in Player mode. Tour mode is more reflective of actual skill in playing this video game, therefore I believe it should be the measuring stick for this community, but hey that's just me as there are valid points for both sides. (Choice, fun factor, etc).

Not just that day but overall. I agree with you on this point. In that particular week, a weaker player beat a superior player. But it happens. Sometimes the weaker player plays out of his mind. It doesn't make him a better player overall. Maybe the course plays more to that player's strengths. Courses today emphasize accuracy. It is no surprise that people using the Player clubs are enjoying the good life right now. That will change. Course design is changing to de-emphasize accuracy. This will result in wider fairways with multiple landing area options. It will result in a variety of hole concepts to reward Tour club users for their 20 extra yards of distance (after roll) and their higher spin rate.

But shouldnt all players be held to the same difficulty parameters in each tournament?
I also don't buy that longer courses will just automatically favor Tour mode. Player mode can still regularly reach the 280-300 yard distances, and I'd rather be hitting 5 wood Player over Tour 4-5 iron from the fairway any day, despite the added roll out. The two clubs will likely give each player a similar birdie chance but Tour mode also brings into play thirty yard misses on either side. Not to mention the added difficulty of up and downs.
Yes, inferior players can win tournaments, but playing "out of your mind" should be done using the same "tools" as everyone else.

If Player clubs do dominate due to ease of swing and the added roll/spin/distance of Tour clubs is deemed a waste of time, then we may as well have stuck to TGC1 imo.

I just can't see something helping the consistency in the swing. Sucks all the fun out of the game when you aren't doing anything different and are getting much wilder shots.

The way the game is glitch wise and the other issues out there currently its not making me want to come back to the Tours, really. The game, when working right, is stunning, it just feels like each day I find another niggling thing which becomes an annoyance.
I've had to reboot the game about six times due to the trippy visuals bug, had it crash about 15 times, the choppy loading of each hole, the stutter on backswings, the putter mentalness when you pull back and within a second its at a 60yard putt, balls landing inside trees and rocks. It truly feels like it is still a Beta.

Can't think of a better reason to restrict the top tours to Tour mode only. TGC2 and more specifically the Tour mode is the new animal before us, therefore let's see who's best at slaying this beast.

If Player clubs do dominate due to ease of swing and the added roll/spin/distance of Tour clubs is deemed a waste of time, then we may as well have stuck to TGC1 imo. I don't think that is going to happen (deeming the advantages gained by tour clubs a waste of time). I would guess than well over 50% of the people around these forums have expressed a desire to want to play with tour clubs because it is more "satisfying" to play with them. But the people against mandating the tour clubs in the tournaments as well as the ones that are playing with the tour clubs, but are struggling (even though the like the game play) are concerned that they will not be able to be competitive with them. And I can understand that concern for sure.
There will always be room in this game for tour clubs, and my guess is they will be by far the most widely used clubs in the "pro" tours.
But at the same time, hopefully there will be room for those that are more comfortable with the player clubs.
It just needs to be fair for everyone.
I will use the tour clubs. And I am getting pretty good with them. Not too far off from what I was in TGC1. Not that that says too much. But if I find that on all but the longest courses I am not competitive because I am too erratic, and I have a choice, then I guess I will be forced to use player clubs for shorter or narrower courses. I would much prefer all are using the same club set in a given tournament though.

If you stacked up all the scores from tour and player clubs and worked out and average, I would be very surprised if player club scores weren't much lower than tour clubs. If that is the case there is a major imbalance

Tour Clubs would be better if the accuracy in each individual club was like its real world counterpart..
Example : In real life players are usually way more accurate with a 3 wood over a driver.. I really wish the cone would gradually increase as you hit less club..
My Perfect set of clubs for TGC2
Tour Driver Players 3 wood Players 5 wood **** late addition **** Tour 3 iron Tour 4 iron Tour 5 iron Tour 6 iron Players 7 iron Players 8 iron Players 9 iron Players PW Players SW Tour LW Tour Putter
In the real world many players get Wild with the driver and decide to go with the three wood on a tight hole.. In TGC2 the 3 wood is as wild as the driver

I for one would love it.

This place want to deliver a "tour like" experience and that doesnt happen from the ladies tees playing like a 65yo scratch player with god like putting...
