I have sat back and waited for community feedback on this issue. I worked my way to the euro tour in tgc1 (no debate there about which clubs). The thing I have noticed most is varying feedback between platforms. I'm on ps4 and TOUR clubs are a nightmare. It is almost impossible to get any form of consistency and if they were compulsory on either top tour it would be a deal breaker for me. I don't mind a smaller cone, higher level of difficulty etc. but having played s lot of real and computer golf in my time, 40 yard rope hooks with 7 irons is completely unrealistic. I dont mind hitting poor shots, making a bogey with that sort of club, it happens but doubles and triples, once or twice a month maybe. Unless something is done to reduce the sensitivity with ps4 controllers I think we are at a severe disadvantage. I play on PC (with a DS4 pad) and PS4 Pro - there's no real difference in my performance with Tour clubs on both platforms. I used to use the XB1 pad on PC, changed to PS4 pad because I was slightly straighter - I just think it suits my swing better. Personally I think it's a case of getting comfortable with your chosen platform and controller. The time taken to get comfortable just varies between people - for some the process is taking longer than they like. I'm still not quite fully there myself yet either.

I'm on PS4. Has it been proven it's harder? Please say yes. You'll get a lot of anecdotal evidence on the forums of course - but anything actually resembling proof is a long way off. My experience of PS4 / PC is zero difference in swing consistency. Tho I know others with a PC that say PS4 is easier, see @blueorfe on this thread... tgctours.proboards.com/thread/11621/pc-users-ps4-xb1-padIn short - mixed views. No proof. For "proof" you'll need double blind tests repeated by several different testers in a controlled manner.

This was my experience of Oakmont yesterday.
Round 1 - swing was on point, so I was 300 yards+ down every fairway, and had mid-short irons that would spin into every green. Result - 62 that would have been 59 had my putter behaved. No doubt using the tour clubs gained me 3-4 shots.
Round 2 - Kept finding the cabbage off the tee and was scrambling to make par on almost every hole. 71. No doubt here I could have got to 66-67, or even lower, using the Players.
No doubt with the scoring we've seen so far that Tour is the way to go the Pro tours. I think it's awesome that you can go from low 60's to 70 something just like that.
This pretty much sums up my experience with tour clubs. I constantly tinker with the angle I hold the controller at in an attempt to hit straighter shots. And to those that say the top players hit dead straight all the time with tour clubs, I can tell you that Mr. Garcia slashes it around now and again......the great man may be fallible.....lol

My point was the platform, not the controller. The tempo penalties combined with accuracy miscues are insane, even within the cone. Maybe this one's just not for me.

Yes, and my rebuttal was that I see no difference in platforms. And in fact another post I linked to see's the reverse of what you posited. Tho a few others will agree with your view too. What we're seeing is everyone's mileage varies a lot... but there is no proof that the PS4 platform is giving inferior results,

As this thread is now coming back to reasonable debate about the subject again, I thought it might be useful to record some actual statistics about this - so we can at least know something about the landscape of the choice. Anyone that feels minded - please post two scores from back to back rounds on the same course; Players and Tour clubs. So going back over the last few pages...

I re-read your post, my bad, I was distracted. Either way I feel the tour clubs are ridiculous. My major concern is being forced to use clubs I don't think are quite right. I bought this new version due to my interest in tgc tours which I now feel I may have to walk away from. Anyway, happy golfing all however you choose to do it

Imagine telling Rory or Phil that they have to use a certain loft club, or a certain stiffness of shaft. Don't think we should limit what players can use. I play with players ATM, but I keep trying tour clubs, but they're not for me. Gonna try a different PS4 controller when I get one, but for the moment I'll stick with the players

I'll keep this updated if/as anyone posts anymore... If the staff here are getting API data, I would think they are using it within the Society tournaments to help them shape their direction. That and the posts on the forums that do not get way off topic.

Can you change your clubs hole by hole? If so that shouldn't be allowed.

Can you change your clubs hole by hole? If so that shouldn't be allowed. You are locked in once you start a round, as it is saved server side. But there is nothing stopping from changing club set (Tour to Player, etc.) between rounds, which is unfortunate. Should be locked for the entire Society event.

There are other exploits I'd rather not discuss, but knowing how competitive people are, they may creep up.
