Nesbit Escapes Serious Injury in Cart Crash Incident
As far as Nesbit Golf International's CEO is concerned, you could say that things have taken a turn for the worse. Eric Nesbit (far left) escaped serious injury today after his golf cart flipped while he was touring the construction site of Forgedale Springs CC. (Photo: Vic Campbell)
(UPI) If it's not one thing, it's another -- just ask Eric Nesbit. The lead architect and CEO of Nesbit Golf Inter- national emerged with minor scrapes and maybe a bruised ego today after his golf cart -- driven by Andre Quenneville -- flipped as the designer foursome of Nesbit, Quenneville, Rob Wilson and Wayne Adams toured the construction site at Forgedale Springs CC, near Flagstaff, Arizona early Friday.
Initial reports suggest that a front wing detached from the front of the vehicle, causing former F1 driver Quenneville to lose control and roll the vehicle. "Jesus, I was just scoping out the work being done on the 9th green, when I heard Andre's patented 'Oh boy', and right away I knew we were in trouble," Nesbit said.
While nobody else was injured, it appears Nesbit took the brunt of the accident. Quenneville, in giving his statement to Coconino County Sheriff Chris Saunders, said in part "I dunno... the cart was feeling a little loose coming out of the chicane at the back of hole no. 10, but I didn't think it was going to be an issue."
Work continues on the Forgedale Springs project, while Nesbit has scheduled himself a day off to recover.

Witness Jacob Kessler said, "the group was just lucky that the cart didn't roll into the water hazard surrounding the peninsula green. That could've been a disaster."

You guys are awesome! 👍🏻
P.S. It would be an honor to tour my course with those designers as well. And my heart's desire is for this place to provide Vic an opportunity for some real stunners!

Well...I'm not on Nesbit's payroll yet, but it's not for lack of trying. Rule number one of business:
If you don't yet have the product ready, at least have the marketing staff on hand to keep the customers drooling in the meantime!
Hmm, wonder if HBS is looking for talent...

Well, after a very poor showing in this week's CC-A event, rumor has it that Eric Nesbit is headed back to Arizona to oversee work on the remaining holes of Forgedale Springs. Marketing Director Rob Scott is said to be having quite a challenge as he promotes the course in "theory" but has nothing tangible to show prospective members yet. Stay tuned!

One thing is for sure... when Eric Nesbit comes back to manage his architecture business after a poor showing on Tour, things get done! The workers might get a little weary from all of the hours they have to put in when "the boss" has a bee in his bonnet, but the financiers sure love seeing the project back on schedule. Hole 13 is a nice reprieve after the stressful tee shot that players just faced on the par-3 12th hole, and hopefully they didn't lose a ball over the cliff (or just give up and jump off themselves). The 13th is a shorter par 5 than the first two, and players will be treated with an opportunity for eagle if they play it right, but this hole's defense is the speed of the green, so if you're coming in hot with a 5 wood and the pin is up front, don't roll off the back! 13th Tee 13th Fairway 13th Green The 14th hole is one of my favorites, and it's only going to get better when the planting is done because I have a treat in store for this little gem! Pictures coming soon...

Even these pictures of the 14th don't do it justice anymore because work has begun on the 15th hole, which will be viewable in the background from some of these angles. The 14th is an iron off the tee, there is no other option. You have to hit an accurate tee shot to position yourself for a mid-iron approach over the ravine. 14th Tee 14th Fairway 14th Green

Donald Trump and family were the guests of honor Saturday, as the Forgedale Springs Historical Society took a look back to remember the ill-fated Forgedale Springs Country club project, which first broke ground some 34 years ago, and has yet to come to fruition. The one-time mega-project, located 12 miles southwest of Buttscratch NV, was originally the brainchild of former real estate and golf course magnate Eric Nesbit, who filed for bankruptcy in the years following the collapse of the Forgedale project. In its day, the Forgedale Springs development was said to be revolutionary -- a refreshing change from what had developed into the humdrum of standard TGC golf course design. But in an age where vinyl records and denim jackets had become passe, Forgedale Springs was soon to follow. Endless construction delays and changing tastes had conspired to ensure the project never was completed. Trump, of course noted for his affinity for the game of golf, was the natural choice to help commemorate the project according to Chester D. McCoy, president of the historical society. "With all the fake news goin' round these days, and the number of federal organizations investigating the current administration, we figured Mr. T would like the chance to come west," he said. This is all that remains of the original clubhouse, designed and built by Eric Nesbit back in 1982. The Forgedale Springs Historical Society is looking for donors to contribute to the Make Forgedale Great Again redevelopment initiative.
On a brighter note, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer made himself available for photo sessions in the run up to the historical society events on the weekend. Which leads us to the Photo Search of the week -- can you spot Sean Spicer in the photo below? "If Mr. T can grab them by their "p"-words, then there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to check out their bushes," said Sean Spicer last weekend, while visiting the ruins of Forgedale Springs CC.

All of the final rock blasting has been completed at Forgedale Springs, and holes 15 & 16 are done as well (update forthcoming). Unfortunately, the owner of the project went into a three day long drinking binge as a result of his fourth round disappointment at this week's Snuggie Classic on the TGC CC-A Tour. Leading by two shots headed into the final round, Nesbit shot an uncharacteristic +1, which stripped him of any chance of winning, and likely cost him his shot at moving up to Web on an exemption as well. Due to his drunken absence, the superintendent wasn't able to reach him regarding the problems they've been having with the turf on holes 17 & 18, and thus those holes, although routed, are still a complete mess.
