Correctomundo. Started off great, -6 after 9 and everything was falling into place. Then got a little casual on the back 9 and paid the price. Finished that round -6. Donned my wet weather gear for the second round and played reasonably well for -10. Total -16. Will it be enough to make the cut? I'd like to think so but I'm not super confident. This is a different course to the dark, dingy tough-ass course I remember. I think boomboom has removed some of its claws and fangs and imo made it a more pleasant experience in general. Anyway well done to the designer and good luck to everyone bar gavlaar124

Easily my worst performance since making it up to web. So many putts lipped out, horse shoe'd around the hole or burned the edges. Put up a -6 and then a -8. Was going to go to bed but then decided to tackle round 3. Bogey, bogey start to that but clawed it back to finish with a -4. I'll sit back and wait to see if I need to play the final round.
Enjoyed the course, just inches from a good score overall. Good luck fellas

I honestly don't know what to expect over the next few days, I have had great rounds here and terrible rounds here, anything can happen. What I do know, miss the fairway and I will be in trouble. Time to see how round one goes. I found the fairway on the first, I played safe and did not use driver, it was then that it went all wrong, my approach was to short and rolled all the way down to the front of the green. My putt from there was a little to hard but left a make able par putt which I somehow rolled over the lip of the cup, I then did the same thing coming back, double bogey and a disastrous start. Two putts that I should not have missed and in trouble after just the first hole, it's going to be a long day. I left it short on the second as well, I did make par this time but something was not right, I had to focus more, I had to start making birdies or it will be a short week for me. I did not leave it short on the third, at least I got that right, just a pity I went right from the tee. I chipped close for par but this was not going well. A par five followed, my chance to get a shot back, at least it was a chance until my third shot flop that rolled back fifteen feet, another par, could it get any worse, of course it could. My approach on five most have clipped a tree because it dropped nearly eighty yards short into the heavy rough, I got it to within thirteen feet, a right to left breaking putt that stopped agonisingly short, three over. A birdie on six, yes it's true, I really got a birdie, I left my approach shorter than I would have liked, and my putt rolled around the cup just to give me heart palpitations but it dropped, take that Bethpage. A fantastic approach on the seventh left me a four foot birdie put, it was downhill with very little break, I was terrified of hitting it, it went in but that was the scariest easiest putt I ever played, normally just a tap in, but the way I started today, it seemed a mile long, down to one over. Another birdie chance on eighth, longer this time, sixteen feet but straightish, slight right to left break, again I flirted with the lip but it dropped, even par. My approach on nine was good, I think I finally found my range, in one way the ball rolling six feet past the hole was disappointing as I thought my shot was better than that, yes that is me complaining about a good shot, how quickly I have forgotten the early parts of the round when I would have killed for a shot like that, anyway, birdie made, one under for a drama filled front nine.
The back nine started with a terrible chip shot, no idea how I left it so short, my par putt was difficult and the lip of the cup came into play again, this time, the ball going the wrong side, back to even par, after four birdies in a row, it was a kick in the teeth and a major setback. With confidence knocked out of me, I proceeded to leave my approach on eleven forty feet shot, it was not a difficult approach, I just got it so wrong which is why I left out such a huge shout when the putt dropped for birdie. I did not expect that. What was going to happen next, I'll tell you what, a ninety percent shot is what happened next to leave me deep in heavy rough. The golfing gods could have left me at least one hole to bask in the pleasure of the last putt but no, they wanted to mess with my fragile little mind, a hundred and ninety yards from the green, in deep rough, oh joy. I made the green, what the hell is going on here, a forty foot putt and just to keep the theme of craziness going, I left it well short and a tricky par putt which of course dropped for par, that hole summed up my round. I am sad to report that there was no drama on thirteen, my ball ended up where I planned on each shot , two under for the round. Fourteen also went pretty much as planned, maybe my tee shot could have been closer but birdie chance was there and birdie was taken. I was surprised how close I got my approach on fifteen, just six feet from the cup, I was not surprised when I lipped out the putt, in my defence, it was not a easy putt, heavy break and downhill, still it was a chance that was not taken. Fifteen brought my second less than hundred percent shot, this time on approach. I would love to blame the game, the course, the golfing gods, anyone but myself but the truth is, like pretty much all my under powered shots, I rushed my swing. I still made the green but instead of being close, I was over twenty feet away, par was never in doubt but I will have to mark that down as another chance missed. I got to four under on seventeen, a seven foot birdie putt the dropped in the centre of the cup. It would be a shame to finish the round with out a little more drama so on my approach, I lined up my shot to play the perfect pitch and played a normal shot instead to watch my ball spin back twelve feet from the cup. Did I make the putt? Of course I did, this round was not ending with a boring par.
I truly do not know how to feel about that round. There's the disappointment of a terrible start, the frustration of leaving so many shots behind, the excitement of fighting back from three over to finish five under and the sheer fun of not knowing what would happen next. I think I shall ignore the negatives and declare this a official fun round of golf. Sure, making the cut is unlikely now but I am leaving round one with a smile on my face, can't ask for any more than that. Good luck and have fun all.

After the torrential rain in R2, Journeyman Dave Wilks, came onto the tee in R3 without a caddy, who he had sacked, after leaving his clubs in his car & not drying them. He managed to grab a young kid to carry his bag, but his caddy had buggered off with all his yardage notes. Suffice to say his playing partner, gavlaar124 was no use to him as he doesn't do yardage notes , & Wilks walked off after another uninspiring round of -3 (67).
R4 was even worse as he dropped shots, made birdies, & dropped more shots, but managed to claw it back to finish at -1 (69) for a total of -21.

After last week's torture at the Nomad, this was much more enjoyable. -5, -10, -7 and -6 for a total -28.
Two tips: 1. Stay in the fairway. The heavy rough will turn the long par 4's into a 5 unless you recover well. 2. Watch out for the slow green speed in round 2. I wasted 3 birdie chances on the first 3 holes by not hitting them hard enough.

So I thought I'd pop down and visit you under achievers this week seeing as I had time to set you all a target -11 -9 -10 -4 for -34 total .. dissapointed with the last round but there are some naughty pins on Sunday so it will have to do haha good luck boys and girls and I'm sure I'll see a few of you up on the euro tour soon Wow, So this has been an extremely good month. I won CC-A last week which earned me my Web.com card FINALLY! I've been grinding on the CC circuit for almost a year trying to get my pro card. This was my 2nd Web event but unfortunately I missed the cut my first time by 1 shot. That was about 6 months ago I think. But this week is going to be different! I actually think I have a chance at winning this week. I won't spoil it just yet but I did shoot several shots lower than -34. My Ace in RD 1 really turned my momentum around as I was kind of just churning up a decent score going into 17. Finished RD 1 with a -9 but followed it up with a few sub 60 rounds. I hope that I can follow in Lisa's shoes and win a Web.com event coming directly from CC-A. Good luck to everyone else! Sunday the course was extremely stretched out to the Max with some tough pins. I noticed the scores were close to 4 to 6 shots higher on avg.

Just finished RD 1. I don't know what the heck just happened. Lip out, after lip out, after lip out, after... had plenty of decent birdie chances but just couldn't convert. Had lag on the front 9, back 9 wasn't as bad. Maybe that had something to do with my putting stroke, who knows. Thanks BoomBoom for making this awesome course. It plays easy but with the right conditions and wind it can be a bear. Wish I could've done it justice. Can't believe how poor I shot in this round compared to practice, here's hoping I can make the cut this week.

Avoiding the same sort of start I had yesterday is vital but I also have to be aggressive from the get go and pick up as many shots as possible to have any chance of making the cut, it's going to be a interesting day. On the first I had a straight hundred and twenty yards to the flag, no reason why I could not go close and that's what I did, birdie start. I had a similar approach on the second but this time went a little to long leaving a heavily breaking putt, the slower green speeds did allow me to attack the putt and I got the line right for birdie number two. It should of been birdie number three on the next hole but I missed a simple ten footer, I thought the putt would break a little, it did not, poor judgment, poor par. I got my scoring back on track on the fourth, straightforward birdie with again the conditions allowing me to be more aggressive. A good start but I needed it to continue. My approach on the fifth was disappointing, left it to short, my birdie putt had the line but stopped dead just before the cup. I had a chance to birdie all five holes so far, missing two of them might come back to haunt me. On six, I left myself with one of those putts that I had to think carefully about, it was short, not to much break, a simple enough putt that can catch me out. I took that little bit of extra time over the putt and it dropped for birdie number four. The first of the long par fours was next and again I gave myself a great birdie chance, it lipped out. The putt was uphill and with the slow greens I wanted to make sure it reached the cup. I hit it a little to hard, so it hit the lip to fast and spun away, another chance missed. Then another missed birdie on eight and I get the feeling the cut is slipping away from me. This time I left my putt a couple of inches short, frustrating yes but my own fault. I finished the front nine with a birdie and normally would be thrilled with five under after nine but I had good chances to birdie every hole, simply not good enough.
The back nine started in positive fashion with a good twelve foot birdie putt, my approach could have been closer but at least this time did not leave my putt short. For the eleventh, it was the same, short approach followed by a strong putt. For the first time in the round, I missed the green on twelve, still a chip in chance but again just a couple of inches short, so close on so many shots but still a miss. Thirteen was a must birdie hole, a long par five with a pitch and putt finish. Thankfully no mistakes and birdie number eight. I could not push on though, I misjudged my tee shot on fourteen leaving a tricky putt which never went near the hole. I think the first hole that I did not give myself a clear birdie chance. Back to missing chances on fifteen, a good approach left me with a eight foot putt, I read the break wrong and the ball slid past the cup. My third par in a row on sixteen, ahh this was agony. I finally got another birdie on seventeen with a good tee shot that left a four foot putt before finishing up with a tap in birdie to finish ten under.
Ten under is not a bad score but it could have been four or five shots better. As usual though, I am going to focus on the positives. I set out to be aggressive and attack the course to give myself as many chances as possible, and that's what I did. I had genuine birdie chances on so many holes so that plan worked. A pity I did not take more such is life. Fifteen under for the two rounds, a waiting game now, I think I will be close to the cut line but on what side, I can not tell, good luck all.
