Well after two days of slice hell. I went for a few rounds of no distraction golf. Tied up the old lady across the road and duck taped her mouth and cut her phone line so she doesn't call or come over looking for something. Turned ringer off on my phone. Turned off all ghosts in game I think I finally shook it. I had lost all my confidence and was over compensating way too much and slicing even worse. Went and played Canucks new course did ok and ended -1. Then Fossmill thursday had a clean round and ended -10 Then Fossmill Sunday and had a decent round could have been a -10 as well but I double bogeyed 3 holes. I do ask though, why can't I ace a hole in tournament when I seem to get one per practice week? And what the golfing gods giveth, he takes it right away next hole lol

It cured my slice. LOL. As for the aces, I don't get many of them so can't help you there.

The slice is all me.
Having played this game for a year plus I've been though all the swing changes HB has made. One early last summer made it so you needed to be somewhat aggressive with the stick. Then in September another update I found I didn't need to be so aggressive.
It took a long time to adjust to the softer touch. When I'm struggling out there I get into a bit of revolving circle. Start slicing, start to over compensate, slice more, slam the stick more, slice more, and so it goes. I have to step back and try and get my soft touch back again. Today I got my softer touch back, took a while to get used to it and hit some 90% power shots, but now I feel like I'm back in my zone so to speak.

Well, with my new controller, I had to change my style completely. Because my old controller (which I bought used) was so "bumpy" in its swing, I had to hold the stick firmly between my thumb and index finger and push it through the zone just to make it swing straight and sometimes even that didn't work. It was very hard learning this game on that controller. Then I got the new one and it's so smooth, I simply hold my thumb on the top and bring it back and slide it through the zone gently. This is the straightest my shot has ever been and it's all the controller.

I love the course. But the course does not love me. I can't go any better than -5 (in the best cases). Some of the breaks are killing me. I hadn't missed so many under 10ft. putts in a long long time

Now you see why I said my ball is homeless. As pers Johns "come on ball get in your home" I had so many putts lip out, float right over the hole or edge at very low speed only to stop teetering on the edge..
And this course and my slice just are not getting along. I'll beat it though. Tomorrow Im attacking it differently.

I figured out what it is I don't like about this course. There is zero room for error.
Most courses, you can be off with your drives by a few yards here and there right or left or even short or long. Not here. You have to be dead on the money with your drives or you're sunk. There is zero forgiveness. Courses like these are simply too difficult for someone like me whose drives are a fraction to the left of dead center of the cone. I can't tell you how many drives would just drift left or right into the rough or forward into a trap because I was off by a fraction. And if you happen to mishit, forget it.
Best I've been able to do in practice was 5 under on Thursday setup. Most rounds I'm between 5 and 9 over.
There almost doesn't seem to be any point in practicing anymore and I certainly don't want my first week back in E Class after losing my sponsor's exemption to end up being a demotion strike on my way down to Z. So I am 99% sure that I will be skipping this one. I've shot at least 12 practice rounds and I just can't handle this one.
Time to move on to Drayton Lakes which is a very easy course, relatively speaking.

Well, I just played round 2 in those hurricane winds like my life depended on it and shot 1 over. That's the best I could do. And that was WITH making a 27 and 24 foot putt.
Course is brutal. And while I enjoy a challenge, this course is so exhausting by hole 13 that it's just not fun anymore.
Enjoy the week folks but this one is too nerve wracking for my old brain.

Don't give up on it Wags...while frustrating at times..it will help you 10 fold moving forward. The precision needed on this course will make the more wide open courses seem like you're hitting to football fields for fairway width. I'm breaking in a 2nd Xbox controller at the moment and my shots have never been more precise. Always good to have a back up controller handy. If I can give you any tips or pointers let me know.

I wish I had a PC to play with your ghost wag. There has to be something you are doing wrong. I don't feel this course is any worse in the forgiveness department than the willows. I actually think the willows is tougher off the tee. Maybe it's just me but... oh well. If you are looking for a more relaxing round Drayton will be it.

I can see where some people will struggle on Fossmill because it requires precision off the tee to land in the "sweet" areas. Perhaps that is where Wags is struggling the most. I've offered up some help to him because I understand his frustration as I have been there myself. So @wagtunes , if you're online this morning when I am...let's play a round on Fossmill and I'll help you iron out some kinks. Mind you...if I'm off and not in my proper mindset..I may offer you more grief...consider yourself forewarned

You know where i'm getting caught up is when my slice is acting up and I have a hard time dialing it out. Its always there, but after a while of playing I get it under control. But if I'm having a hard time with it those little dogleg left and slight bendy holes I'm missing the fairway by just a couple inches and making my second 2'nd shot tough. If it keeps on in a round I start to lose my confidence and over compensate. You saw that in the round we played Jim in the 18mph wind, I said "heres where I wind up in the bunker on the right". Over compensated and where did I wind up? Plugged bad in the bunker on the left lol.
Just for me some days are worse than others with the slice. Yesterday wasn't actually so bad, but man did I miss a lot of putts. A -7 could easily have been -11.
I'm still able to make a decent score out there though. Today on those bendy holes if my slice is bad I'm clubbing down and laying up and taking the long 2'nd shot
