Why not have an option in your tgctours.com profile to say yes you want to take an exemption or no you don't, like the option to choose pga or euro tour? This way if someone who has indicated that they don't want to be promoted earns an exemption it could be passed down to the next best placed player? Using the existing count back rules for ties if there is one Right on the money Gavlaar great thinking that's the best possible solution I have heard

It says exemptions expire in 7 days on your profile when you get them though. So do they not actually expire?

I finished 3rd in week 2 of the Web comp (before late registration available) so had to wait a week to use it which I did but was a minor event week cus the big boys were all playing together in another tourney ... made the cut but it didn't matter and I was back down to the Web. since have finished 1 shot off the top 5 a couple of times all of which at least 2 players above me didn't take up their exemption leaving me frustrated at not having another shot. I'm currently sitting 5th in the Web.com money list so I could just do a ratna and stay down here and get my card that way but don't wanna so I'll be taking up my exemption (which I'm determined to get) and trying again on the euro

I think the exemption should be mandatory but it should be harder to get your PGA card with the exemption. Top 30, or top exempt player maybe? It used to be you had to get a top 40 finish to earn a Top level card. Staff wants the top levels full, so they have lowered the criteria to the top 70. That was a small part of my wanting to stay back on Web.com late in season one... it was harder back then. I didn't want to lose Web.com $$$ in case I did not make the PGA along with all the other reasons.

If I had earned my multiple exemptions last season earlier in the year, I would have taken them as my GOAL was to move up. But under the specific circumstances, I felt it was better to pass on them. Some events are not eligible to earn a promotion (minors).

I could have swore someone said that you could bank them and use them in consecutive weeks. Can Doyley / other admin chime in on this? From my experience you have one week (Friday night to Friday night) to register your exemption. There are often events more than one week out to register for (usually two).

Now Now Timmons, don't be trying to change the rules already, the Top 70 was good enough for you and Nantez to get out of Web don't forget that hopefully I can get an exemption before it goes back to top 30 or whatever it was before and it's even harder.

Doyley and the admins are terrified to come near this thread coz by looking at the votes looks like more work for the team hahaha

After that, no exemptions, you earn your way through the money list/web finals.

My personal opinion is that these tours operate as best as possible given this is a video game with unlimited amounts of talented players. That said, exemptions should be mandatory because this promotes realism and career advancement - just like in real life! No aspiring golfer refuses to play against better competition with chances at more $. TGCT rankings, schedule, and exemptions mimic their real-life counterparts, therefore mandating players to take exemptions isn't asking for too much.
My only complaint is there's only one event per week per tour. The schedule parallels the PGA schedule and I appreciate that, but more events would mean more rankings points, advancement, exemptions, etc. I discovered this game in October, and unless I have several Carl Spackler Cinderella moments, I doubt enough players will slip for me to ever crack the top 200 until mid-2017. With more events, the players with less off-course obligations (young-single-Spieth vs. old-married-kids-Phil) can play more events and move up more quickly. Realism! One event could run Saturday night through Wednesday (cut Tuesday morning), with another event running Wednesday through Saturday night (cut Friday morning). Yes, this would be taxing on the admins, but I believe there are enough dedicated players to make this worth it.
Heck, I'd even pay a monthly fee.
