No matter what it threw at me, I really did like this course. Hard as heck to play out of the heavy rough all the time, but a good test of short game. I had mentioned I was only -3 to start, which just killed some good momentum I had from practice rounds. Some shots you just get a wrong squirt and you're in the rough...then you're boned approaching some of these greens with no ability to spin the ball. Unfortunately after a -10 start in the first 2 rounds, I was only able to grind out 7 more strokes for -17 total. A decent showing all-in-all, but right from the get-go I knew I was going to be out of contention. Some great play to get it up to the high -20's this week fellas.
I agree, I enjoyed this as well. The way I see it is we are now in a "professional" tour, no more CC tour. We should be tested by the course each week. Not everyone will like every course, that is the way it goes. If a course doesn't suite your eye one particular week, move on to the next week. The good thing about Web is you get to hang in there a full season so just be patient. I don't think anyone should expect to play well every week.
Agreed, I like the challenge. I had been playing both the CC and Web tours while I was in CC, just to get used to the upped difficulty. I actually feel I play better on the Web courses then the CC. My real goal now is to make every cut and place in the top 25 in a majority of the tourneys.

Back again for another whinge.
Was hitting it everywhere on my first round have to say the detail in the bushes and trees where great spent more time in them than on the fairways. Got no luck at all with bounces lippy putts etc. to be fair didn't deserve any luck. Finished -3 for first round.
Second Round it all clicked was -5 after 11ish but was still liping out constantly. Then my wife arrived home after been out on the game raising the funds for my entry fee. She decided to tell me about her day and my daughter wanted to swing out of my pockets many wayward shots later and a few tantrums finished -2.
So 3 weeks down 0 cuts made.

I like this course. Much better than last week's which used trees and unrealistic designs to create a test. This is a tough test but I love tough tests. They weed out the men from the boys.

I'm not feeling the course this week yet. I've had 5 practice rounds but I still don't feel that I'm ready. It's not that I don't like the course, it's just that I'm struggling to make birdies. I might struggle to make the cut this week after last week's good showing.

I had to give this a go. Looks like I'm missing 3 cuts on the bounce on the European Tour and I only finished 75th or thereabouts on web last season. So I'm kind of in between skill levels.
I shot -20 (65/67/67/69). Not too bad. Could have played better, could have played worse.
People say it's a tough course and it can be, especially if you miss those fairways or if you get above the hole. However, wait for the stats to come out and I bet people are still hitting more fairways and greens than the pros do in real life so those fairways aren't too hard to hit. Anyways, birdie fest next week for those low score lovers.

How can we have the same winner for the first two weeks? What happened to the exemptions? Off for the beginning of the season or something?

By the time Jared had won, registration for the next week had already closed, I believe. So that's why he played the first 2 and is playing PGA this week. I think that's what happened anyway.

I was told this AM that exemptions are a choice which I find lame. Maybe it's just me but all I am trying to do is move up and if some people are just trying to stay put to rank higher then the system is a little jacked IMO

-1 followed by a -4 under for -5 total. hopefully that will be enough to make the cut. The hole on the greens seemed to be cut on a ridge, making it tough to get the ball to the hole without it rolling another 8-10 feet by it hit a little too hard. I had a couple squirts that took me from a would be birdie to bogey because I was short sided. Got it going the 3rd round and shot -8 and on the 4th shot -5. While missing 3 easy putts the hit the cup and lipped out in the 4th. Like I said hopefully I make the cut at -5, and my -18 would be good enough for a top 30. I dunno how these guys hit double digits under par for that first round. Such a tough start. Great comeback in rounds 3 and 4 though. I hope you make the cut because not counting those scores is criminal.

Seriously though, I would have played last week's PGA tournament if I could. Really did like that course. I couldn't though due to registration being closed by the time I was awarded the exemption (as said before).

You bet Jared, I'm thinking Marino doesn't mean this as YOU trying to stay on Web...but is worried about it happening in the future. That said, if someone is really THAT good, the 3 wins thing will definitely take care of it.

Exemptions should be mandatory IMO. That's really the whole deal for me

Also that sucks if you didn't even have a choice at moving up. At least you should be auto registered with the option to decline under the current rules. Great playing Jared. You will obviously be on the big boy tour soon

I don't totally disagree, but its a forced move up after 3 wins anyway. I think there's a benefit to having a consistent group of players competing together.
Has anyone here played the PGA event this week? Current setup is definitely too hard for this level, but I think that'd be a great course for Web if they just untucked the pins a little for us. Lots of interesting shots over/beside water. Personally played 2 rounds and went +7 (hadn't ever played before and was psyched out by people saying how hard it is) and then Even on the 2nd round.

I chose to not use my exemption from week 1. If I start winning tours, then I'll consider moving up, but I didn't feel I would have been competitive on this weeks Pga course. I'm also not consistent enough on here to get bored with the challenge and want to move to the pga. I finished in the 60s last week and I'm middle of the pack so far this week. If the exemption was mandatory, I would have played.... But given a choice I'd rather stay here and work on my game.
