Sitting on the cut line at -8. Looks like I'll miss my 3rd cut in a row to start the season. Having been occasionally competitive in CC-C last season, I'm not sure that I'm up to the task in Web.com. Still am enjoying it, but the wife says I have to make some cuts and make some money!!! We'll see how the next tourney goes. Someone said Harvest Hills was an easier course....I practiced it yesterday and rage quit twice. I'm fully expecting another week with no fake $$. Sorry Honey.... Here's hoping that -8 sticks around Ken. I think it just may...fingers crossed for you. As for Harvest Hills....some have said it's an easier go, but in higher winds for the practice rounds I've played, it's given me fits. Can't imagine scoring will be higher than -40 if winds are even near double digits. Some tough pins as well, one I seem to recall that was very close to yellow.

Very happy with my 63,63 start - managed to sink a lot of 10 footers which helped. Last week was in a similar position then blew out so looking to hold my nerve this time! Didn't hold my nerve Two even par rounds to finish doh! Haha shouldn't laugh same thing happened to me. Shot 67 63 first 2 rounds my best performance in a year only to follow it up with a 73 69. Oh dear haha. Great course. Tough challenge.

For what it's worth I've scored consistently better on the Oktoberfest track than in any of my Harvest Hills practice rounds. Not enough rounds played yet for me to know why, I assume the spongy soft & slow greens (I much prefer faster greens) are such a drastic contrast to this weeks' course than I'm completely bottled up.

I will take exemption(If I ever get one) when I feel ready to go up. I'm loving the rivalry here on this tour. My aim is of course to get the to EURO tour and compete with the best but I feel have some way to go before I can do that.
My point has been proven by the fact that I struggled to make par on my of my practice rounds for this tricky course.
Here is my write up.
Round 1 I finally had to make the plunge and start, I don't normally play rounds at the weekend so I had 2 nights left to play 4 rounds. Practice was still not going well, I had little hope of qualification.
Unfortunately the API has not collected my data yet so I go off memory. Feeling will be accurate, scores will not be.
Apart from one hole where I scrambled par I was playing as good as I ever had on this course, I gave myself around 6 good birdie chances on the front 9. Unfortunately I missed them all. I did make a bogey on one of them though. +1 though 9 and yes, my weekend was now going to be free. Not resigned yet though. My play got even better on the back 9 and in all honesty I was disappointed with a -4. I would have taken that before the round begun but I played so well, had so many chances, I said to me wife(Who I will refer to as caddy from now on) afterwards that it should have been a -10. Maybe this course is easy after all? My putting let me down but mainly because of my usual failings and not issues with the greens.
Round 2 Confidence is high, never mind the cut, a top 25 place is in my grasp. I have cracked the course. Birdie on the 1st, yes. I was thinking how I've got it. I had a moment of rage on the 2nd I think. 145 yards to go, I had the club which went the same distance (7 iron?) and lofted up a couple of %. Wind was to the side. Inexplicably it went well short into the bunker. I have no idea how or why. I ended up taking a double bogey and then had another bogey on the next hole to be +2. I told my caddy that my chances had gone. I was never going to turn this around. Did I think that? I'm not sure. Did I play like that? Hell no.
I missed chances yes but I put myself back into contention. I was something like -2 with 8 to play. Disaster struck on around about the 11th and 12th. I can't remember what happened but I was back to even par with 6 to play. I had my second rage moment, this time blaming the greens. I told my caddy my chances were gone, I told myself my chances were gone. I needed a minimum of 4 birdies in 6 holes, never going to happen. I just had to keep my head together, I could still edge out a couple of my rivals.
I got a birdie on 13, then 14, then 15. Wow, what had just happened? I was sitting -7 with 3 to play. 1 or maybe 2 birdies would do it. This could still go either way. I had to play solid but still need to pick up birdies. The next 2 holes both worried me, I would be happy with one birdie and one par. That's exactly what I got. Onto the 18th -8, my target to make the cut. (I was thinking in my head that it might go to -9) Now to the 18th. How do I play it? What sort of shot do I want? I play the 3 wood to leave me short with a possible 50 yard pitch shot but it runs further than I think. I was in the rough about 35 yards out. Come one, one good flop shot and I should get in, one really good flop shot and I will certainly be safe. I played it well, really well. 5 foot putt for birdie. I told myself, don't hit it too hard, don't three putt. I got it in. The elation and relief poured out of me as I sank my head to the ground and shouted "COME ON". My caddy thinks I've gone mad and asked if there any reason for my previous outbursts. I think she pretty much wants to be in a different time zone when I play my last 2 rounds. A rollercoaster of a round, what makes this game and tour so great and what makes courses like that so great and so bad at the same time. I survived! Am I ready for the EURO tour? NOOO!! I love the courses here, I love my fellow competitors. I have found my level. I have found my family.
As always, great write up. I felt like I was there with you on the 18th! And as one of your rivals, I agree - you are not ready for the EURO! BOOM!

if -8 ends up being the cut and I squeak in....then my back 9 in the second round is pretty friggin' "Clutch".

if -8 ends up being the cut and I squeak in....then my back 9 in the second round is pretty friggin' "Clutch". As long as 5 more people don't submit a -9 and up for the first two rounds, you're in. It seems that 7 people have submitted their first round scores and not their second. One is a -7, the second is a -5. The others are all -2 and below. So you'll have to assume that at least two of this group of seven will make the cut. Then there's all the players that have not teed off yet. There's 24 players that have not teed off and I'm going to guess that at least half of them will submit their scores sometime within the next 14 hours. It's going to be a close one so just cross your fingers!

Just checked week 2 results... 23 people didn't submit a score. So maybe I was wrong in saying that half of the 2 dozen people that haven't submitted a score yet will submit.

At the turn of that second round, I had no expectations of getting in regardless of what I did. It will be gravy if I do...but I still don't expect to.

Thanks Yaters, I'm not good at expressing myself so I'm glad you were feeling the moment!! Now onto your next comment about me not being ready. What sort of snidely remark is that? I tell you Yaters, I'm more read then you'll ever be and I mean EVER!!! Now what score do I need to get on my final 2 rounds to pummel your face into the dirt? (Or maybe not )

Well I don't recall what you did first two rounds exactly. I was too wrapped up in the story to see your total. Pretty sure I finished -14 total (-3 and then +1 my final two rounds). So I'm guessing you just have to do 68 68 to win. Someone ready for the EURO tour could do that off-handed with one eye closed

Nerves hold round 3. Just! I enjoyed that round, filled with great par saves, agonising birdie misses and a horrendous double on the 12 where the green really did me over.
I only managed 3 birdies and all were on the front 9, well on target to beat yaters and to catch up with Kenny and a few others. A stroke of luck proceeded my double. My first eagle of the tournament thanks to a lucky break in the long approach shot and a chip in. I feel that I deserved that after the missed birdie attempts. As you already know I gave both strokes back on the next hole. I was gutted, -3. I was still -3 going up the 18th. A birdie would give me a satisfactory -4. I could have gone for the green but took a 5 wood instead. It left me a 40 yard flop. I managed to land it almost on the hole, it stopped suddenly after and proceeded to spin back towards the hole. Could it drop? Could it yaters? Oh yes it could. Right in the hole for the 2nd eagle of the round and a -5, -14 after 3. I need an under par round to take a 2-1 lead in the rivalry. Still plenty of rivals ahead but so long as you are behind me!!!! Here I go then, if I don't report back I either fell asleep or screwed it up big time. See you soon maybe.

Wow this is tough, keeping it together at -3 after 9 but I feel a disaster imminent. Well played Kenny on your first 11, -5. It must be so close between us.
