Hey Deano - Yaters here, self-appointed rival to you. Here's my tournament review. - I played this course 3 times in practice and never got above a -5. So my R1 start of -6 felt very good.
- R2 I managed a few more putts and holed out a chip for an eagle at one point, so -9 there.
- R3 I missed a some chances and had my first bogey of the tournament. Finished -7.
- R4 was a complete mess. I think I started with a bogey and scrambled around. Probably made some of my best shots of the tournament, but they were just to save par. The wind was slightly increased and the course the same, so my guess is it was just nerves or pressure. Managed a -4 in the end
-26 total. I originally just hoped to make the cut and maybe land top 50ish. I think I'll be Top20 now. I know I'll be First place in the newly minted Yaters-Deano Rivalry Armageddon Face-Off week one standings! Edit because I can't do the maths and add 4 numbers properly...I'm putting myself forward as rivals to you both. Honours have gone to yaters, so far (-26 to -23), Dean a solid -7 will see you level. good luck
I accept Mr. Yorkshire. I promise not to talk in your backswing or walk through your putting line. Certain bodily occurrences I can not promise though. Let's just say if I yell 'Fore!' it's not a ball coming your way.

Awesome man. Do you do stats after every tournament? I really enjoy reading and digging into that stuff. It usually reveals that I'm worse than I thought...but still fun One other thing oswinner. What are you doing to calculate scrambling? Is that par or better for a missed fairway or green? I'll try to do the stats for each tourney. As for scrambling, it's par or better when a green is missed.

With so many rivals apearing from nowhere the pressure was on. Do I play well under pressure? You will find out. I had so many targets to aim for it was hard to decide. I figured matching my first round 62 would be a good starting point. It would beat all but the luckiest of my new rivals. You know who you are.
1st hole, missed a good birdie chance. Something wrong then happened in the game. Maybe I lost my mind but 2 approach shots with side wind ended up being well short. I had to scramble for par. 4th was another shortish birdie chance, missed again. The panic is starting to set in. Maybe even Kenny was out of my reach. I don't think so, boom, eagle chip in on the 5th. That's more like it. The springboard to success. One birdie and 4 pars between the next 5 holes slightly dampened my spirits but I knew I coukd still do it. 11th hole next. I hit a good looking t-shot, it just clipped the rough and did not get out. It's impossible to get to the green . I hacked out into more rough. My pitch shot was okay but I have a difficult 6-8 footer for par. Not only did I miss but I went 10 foot past. That return putt was huge and I nailed it. It felt like a par save but it wasn't, back to -2. It was the first time I'd played 12 into a strong headwind. I didn't give it enough and left an awful bunker shot. Another shot dropped. Birdies on 15, 16 and 17 put me back to -4. I needed a birdie to draw level with Kenny. Did I make it? You will find out tomorrow.
Only joking, I didn't. I made par, another par. I need to check but I think ALL of my rivals have beaten me. I'm still happy with 62 66 66 66. Congratulations to my many rivals. You won't be so lucky next time.

Scores so far - 62, 66, 66 for a total of -16 with 1 round left. Looking for a top 25 place and an estimated purse of $5000. What's the exchange rate like at the moment? How are my rivals doing? Finished round 3 & 4 now - 63, 66, 65, 68. As we are tied after 3 rounds, it probably doesn't help me that round 4 was my worst. Oh, I beat you. Sorry.

Another 66 in round 4 and you'll tie with me Dean. I'd be ok with that I guess. No need to get crazy and shoot a 60 or anything like that yet, it's too early in the season ;-) And a tie. I did better than I thought!

I'll watch the fourth round scores with interest to see if others found it tougher as well. I played my usual game I just couldn't score and it's not often I'll have a run of 4 bogeys, just seemed to leave myself with some hellish putts on that last round. Onwards and upwards!! ⛳️ Wind was certainly higher at the beginning and for a period later on, it seemed to be in different directions. Maybe this meant we were on different parts of the green. I found putting more difficult too.

Yeah the last round was easily the hardest of the three, I struggled to a -4 on it too. A slight misjudgement in those winds on this course and you could easily end up in serious trouble.
Congrats on your rounds Dean, -20 is a very solid score!

My third and fourth rounds were littered with ball squirts that went well against the slope of the ball and/or put me in really bad positions off the tee. A lot of those two rounds required me to just scramble for par. Two bogeys in both r3 and r4. Still lots of lipped out putts. My fourth round could have been something special when I was -4 through 4, but then 2 pars (on #5 and #6 no less) and finishing with a bogey on the way out ruined that. R1: 60 (-10) R2: 60 (-10) R3: 63 (-7) R4: 62 (-8) Total: 245 (-35)
Knowing the score I needed to beat I was sitting at -34 going into 17 on round 4. Going big or going home, I took a risky shot on 17 around the corner and just avoided the bunker. I couldn't stick it close enough to make the putt though, and left the putt on 18 short... fell short by 1... not too bad for my first web.com tour!
I'm the type of guy who gets in and gets out of the locker room, but I always enjoy reading the chatter here, so thought I'd join in on the new year

Very nice shooting! If you had birdied the 18th, you would have won on tiebreaker (I bogeyed the 17th and then birdied the 18th). Speaking of which, I've been meaning to suggest that tiebreakers use the hole handicap this season. I guess we'll see each other next week on exemption. Fun course if you're set for the PGA. Except not really. I think it's a bit easy to score, and I'm not a fan of those types of courses. Especially at that level, when you can play really well and still miss the cut because you didn't go -21 or better.
