Same old junk. Ton of 96%. Unrealistic green bounce. Pins in places where greens lie about the break. Can't believe I am about to say this but this is getting old. The courses TGCTours are picking just to make it tough is right where this game's biggest problems are. Unrealistic Green Bounce and Pins on crests where HB's green grid system is hugely flawed. Its gotten to the point where I don't believe what a green reads anymore. With or without the grid. TGCTours please stop picking designed courses that take advantage of these flaws. Its taking the "sim" out of the game and turning this into some sort of weird golf challenge. Just my two cents. If HB had uniform winds for everyone this course would have been unplayable in high winds and I feel sorry for those who thought the wind patch was still live and played in those winds, when it was later retracted. People really need to learn to distinguish "difficult" from "unplayable". I played my final round in 14-15mph. Made 5 birdies and shot -1. Should have been better. It was tough, but it was far from unplayable.

I suppose you could ask for a POWER and SPIN button or even mulligans if your finding it slightly difficult.
I think the course was great. Plenty of holes that par is good. Risk and reward tee shots. Pins that required big draws and fades to get anywhere near or play to middle of greens and hope your putter works. Perfect.

Yes depending on where you are on the occasional green the beads do lie a little. But we all can see or should see that they do and I'm sure we're kind of used to this happening during a tough round. When you compare Elmview to Falcon Bay, it makes you pleased that Elmview won the prize for US Open. 17th at Falcon was frought with problems. Miss the fairway you haven't got a chance to get over the water in two. In the rocks below the green you could be taking a 10 on your hole easily. And that not even mentioning the greens. Think we have to give credit to Reebdog. This was a top course for the Open. Hard and challenging but most definitely playable.

As a note I said unplayable only in high winds, defined at 15+ mph. I also said some holes in the original post not the whole course.

I think I'll go "All-in" in Rd2... not much to lose with a predicted cut around -6 or so. Well... I gave my all, and it didn't turn out so bad. Finished the round with a 63 (-8), and it was probably one of the best tournament rounds I've played so far on TGCT. Best putting performance for weeks, and I immediately start to score (much) better. So I know what to work on at least. I only had one really bad shot on this round, and I was punished immediately. Was -9 on the 18th tee, and hooked my tee shot into the bunkers. Was left with a plugged lie, and couldn't save Par from there. So instead of an (easy) birdie and -10, I ended up with a Bogey and -8. Anyway... I really really hope that -8 will make the cut, because then I'll qualify for The Open Championship directly. Time will tell.

Round3 my best yet at -9. Progressively getting better on this course as I figure out placement. Almost blew up that short par3 as I got my only sub-100% power shot and it hit off the railroad ties and launched over the green. Much better than hitting 3 from the tee!

Those saying the course was unplayable, are really off base. We've got a couple players posting -30 and better. Those complaining about uniform winds need to realize, if you want a true sim, uniform winds is a great way to ruin the game. Last I checked, the guys on tour don't complain when they get a poor tee time on the draw. It happens every week in real life and if are to get a game that is a relatively true sim, we need to deal with the fact that some will play the same golf course is easier conditions and others in harder conditions.

I'd do all 4 in one night if you had the calm ass winds you had!
This is becoming a joke. First I think the course is challenging but unfair. INCREDIBLY unfair. Especially now that the winds are just what the @!$# ever now. Too many holes you can reach in 2 with helping winds and barely reach in 3 with bad winds. Not to mention the 11th green that apparently doesn't want to tell you if it's right to left, it just shows flat. Cool. Until they make the winds EXACTLY THE SAME FOR EVERYONE I don't know how much i'll be playing this anymore. It's pointless.

I really enjoyed my 4 rounds all played one after another before misses and daughter came home. I know the sort of courses you are talking about and with firmness being my only gripe with this game I would be the first to say but although this is firm it's easy playable.i didn't play all the us open courses (yet) but this was a worthy winner.
I had one round with wind below 10 mph and that was 7-11 roughly all other 3 rounds were 14-18 mph. Still, if anything this made the course easier as when wind was facing the it could hold the bounce back a little. The bounce was going hard anyway so wind behind was just a matter of dropping clubs.i played with disturbed 19.(?) Who was tearing it up but wi

A video-game portraying golf should also be equally unfair. Just needs to be the right type of unfair. Exactly the same wind for everyone - how boring that would be. Same general conditions, OK, but moving in a plus minus 90 deg arc plus swirling and gusting would be an OK approximation of what wind is like for real golf tournaments. HB were not too far off with what they gave us. If the wind would be made the exact same - I would lose interest very quickly as the feeling of "golf" would be gone and this would be exposed for the stick-flicking competition it is.

The grid is an ASSIST showing the approximate break. It is a FEATURE of the game. It works perfectly fine. Don't like what it is doing or think its broken? There is an option to turn it off. Have yet to find a single instance where the ball has turned in an illogical way. If anything the roll is too smooth as on real greens balls usually wobble quite a bit and go off-line (but this unnessecary perfection in game is luckily offset by the iffy cup physics, so overall its a nice balance). If a straight grid with break on either side - the putt must be read in more detail. This is SKILL - the thing that separates the winners from the pack. Then of course its not advisable to put too many pins on ridges - but that is also not the case on Elmview....
