Just remember lose in the first you tie for 33rd. win first round and lose you tie for 17th. win second round and lose you tie for 9th. win third round and lose you tie for 5th win fourth and lose you can get 3rd or 4th. win fifth you can get 1st or 2nd. Is this right or will they take the best score for lets say the 1st roundĀ losersĀ and that's 33rd and the worst score for round one gets 64th. Maybe that's the way the FedEx points will be divided up and then the losers from round 2 and then best score down. Not sure though.
I'm a loser too so not calling anyone out
It will work as Brighttail states I'm sure. They have no way of separating in real life as is matchplay so all get tied 33. I'm sure we will mimic this as strictly speaking there isn't meant to be a stroke score available. Add to the fact that some people will be nowhere near their proponents score and just throw the rest of the round as they assume they will be t33

They should take all points from 33-64 add them up then divide by the number of folks who tied. Same with any money.

BrightTail is right, all 1st round losers tie/get same points - regardless of score.

Well done steve on destroying my magical +3. Thinking i will win the worst round of the week comp. Good shooting mate, better player won. Need to get some playtime in because i am going backwards in the last 4 weeks it feel. Thanks Tom. Man - I am truly shocked. Feel bad about your +3. The better player didn't win. I just won this round. With two wins and 14th in the WGR, you are the better player. Sorry I couldn't follow up in round 2 with a better score.

I don't have a dog in this hunt but have been watching events unfold as a spectator and enjoying.
Nobody should apologize for beating someone...this is a 1-off event so WGR means nothing, this isn't a 4-round tournament, it's modified matchplay and it's up for grabs to whoever has the hot sticks at the moment.
With that said, I am a bit bewildered that it was chosen to give ties to the better WGR rank. You would think if this was a sports betting line that a point spread would give strokes to the worse ranked player. Put another way, if #1 WGR vs. #64 WGR both shot -6 that would mean either #1 under-performed or #64 over-performed (or a combo of both)...to me that says the worse ranked player did better. Giving the edge to the higher ranked player is just another case of "the rich getting richer". I would hope this method is reconsidered in the future or that at the very least it is done in alternating methods (like the possession arrow in basketball) so there is some form of overall equality. JMHO, but despite the minor qualm, I applaud TGCTours staff for all the efforts on putting this together, I look forward to hopefully seeing tons of upsets...GO UNDERDOGS!!!

Agree with oblong, ties should been decided in the favour of those with the worst wgr ranking.

BrightTail is right, all 1st round losers tie/get same points - regardless of score. So the worst you will get credit for in this tourney is a T33rd?

While I understand the desire to give the tie to the person with the higher WGR, I believe the intent is to reward the person who has consistently over the course of a (part) season better than the other person. Consider it home court advantage for having the better record at the end of a season.
I'm okay with it, makes it more of a challenge.

Oh I understand the thought and am far from spouting a my way or the highway stance since both sides have debatable points in their favor. The way I see it though is that the cream are already getting plenty of feathers in their caps at TGCT...tourney wins, world records, invites to closed events, FedEx playoffs, etc. Those outside the elite but still good players could have this be their shot to have the spotlight turned their way for once. We all like underdogs (except the big dogs) and the point stands in a tie situation it was the underdog who outperformed the big dog on that round and should reap the reward. Being better over the course of a season is just that and has its built-in bragging right a la their WGR rank. But on this day, that 1 round a tie to me says the underdog was the winner.

While you are correct that the top players get the added bonus of special tournaments, majors, ect.... what happens when you get into a situation where two good players that have earned the same invite? The top 64 all earned their spot. Other than prestige, the player who has the higher WGR gains no real advantage for being the better...overall player.
So all things being equal, since we must have a tie breaker and can't do extra holes or an extra round, to me it seems fairest to reward the player who has consistently proven themselves better throughout the year.
That being said, normally the tie breaker goes to the person who scores the best final round. This doesn't necessarily benefit the higher or lower ranked person. So for a one off tournament I'm fine with this.
