Hi everyone, played qualifying last week and landed in cc-J. Played the first couple of rounds of this week’s tournament - really struggled at the start, and was +5 after the first 5 holes, but managed to get back to -2 by the end of the second round.
Can’t say I’m a big fan of the setup on this course, there have been some long par 4s into the wind that I’ve struggled to reach with a driver and 3-wood.

Hello, congratulations on qualifying and making it here! Good little comeback by the looks of it too! I haven't started yet, but based on what I've seen... yeah, this is gonna be an interesting week again.

Two rounds down. Cutting real close this week, but that's down to my own inability to find ways to score. Or I know how to, but I can't execute.
Way too much tough putting for my liking, but it is what it is. Sitting right at the cut on +1 at this time. I went in blind without knowing the cut, so seeing what a close shave this is going to be was a bit of a scare. This week is going to be either a lucky escape into the weekend, or a painful, narrow miss for the first time in weeks. One of the two, let's see where the coin flips before I move on.

+2 after two rounds, so on the outside looking in at the moment. Projected cut is +1. A very unspectacular two rounds, some birdies , some bogeys. Unfortunately, a few more bogeys than birdies. The course is deceptive to me. Tee to green is pretty straightforward, though a couple of the long par 4's are a challenge if your tee shot goes into the rough. But, if you dont hit the green accurately, you will be looking at a 40+ foot putt for birdie, and if you are not able to get it reasonably close, a 10+ foot putt just to save par. That has kind of been my situation. No "terrible" shots, but just not able to be close enough for many birdie opportunities. So far, more likely just to be looking to salvage par. Having said that, a fun course that makes you think around the green. Enjoying it and hoping the cut line moves down by one shot.

Watsup fellas, earned my tour card for the first time after last week's tournament. Still learning the ropes around here. Is there a deadline for playing the first two rounds for these tournaments now?

Is there a deadline for playing the first two rounds for these tournaments now? Hello! Yeah, there's a deadline for the first two rounds here. Certain knowledge is on 11 PM EST tonight, so still a bit less than 15 hours to go at the time of writing this. That's what the site timer has always shown. I've also understood that it might register until midnight EST since that's the time where third round scores pop up, but play it safe and get the scores in before that first time and you're good to go for sure. EDIT: also, you can find this from the info, rules and policies page: 1st and 2nd round scores must be completed prior to 4am UTC on Thursday of the tournament week. 3rd and 4th rounds completed prior to the tournament's closing at 12am UTC on Sunday.

Thanks Tombanator, appreciate the help! Looking forward to playing this course. The first 18 hole golf course in the U.S.A. and it's still regarded as a top 20 course in the country by many publications, #14 by GOLF.COM. Seems to be playing fairly tough. We'll see how my first two rounds in CC-J go later tonight.

Still being a relative newcomer to this whole TGC thing myself (my first season and first golf game in ages for that matter), always willing to help out anyway I can! Unless you want gameplay tips. I'm not qualified or good enough at the game to give you any of those!

Finished at -5 for the tourney. Best 4 round score so far. Shot a -5 on the last round, even with a quad bogey (I believe it was #6). I somehow managed to 5 putt on that hole!! Ouch!!! Onward to next week.

Right, finished up the tourney on a strong, very positive note! +1, E, -3, -4 = -6. Feels like forever since I last had a 67 AND a 66 on the scorecard in these events!
Round 3 had my highlight of the week, around a 6 foot miss for an alby. It was the par 5 hole 4, took the driver off the deck, lucked out on a perfect shot and it slid maybe 2 feet wide of the hole. Putted for an eagle, made it look easy and felt like a real pro of the game! 2nd half of the round was almost perfect regulation shooting, missed one on both fairways and greens. That led to a pretty solid three straight birdies near the end of the round for a more pleasing score!
Round 4. If I said my shot placement to the greens was on point and putting also helped out for once, I'd be understating it. Went bogey free until the 13th, despite all of my off tempo shooting and downright shenanigans anywhere else but near the greens and pins. Finished the tourney up with back to back birdies, and the last shot that I took was a dead center 29 foot putt. That sent me away in a fantastic mood.
All in all, can't say that it was the best that I've ever done, but the progression towards the end leaves me cautiously optimistic for next week!

An eagle on the last hole of my second round made me feel a lot better about my score, currently -2 after 2 rounds. Will have to wait and see if that is good enough to make the cut.
One question - is there anywhere in game where it says how firm the fairways and greens are? I've looked, but all I can see are the default conditions for the course.

There is a way to figure this out. On the very last menu screen before you advance to the round itself (where you can still edit your golf bag, you can see your golfer and the course you're playing at etc.), you can check from the settings tab how the conditions are for that particular round. Anywhere else it would show the default conditions, but that's the one way you can find out what kind of conditions you're going to actually get.

Had my best rounds yet in the new game in R3 and R4, with a -4 and a -7 to get to -13 overall. Tempo was still all over the place, the scoring just came from some good putts - I gave up trying to hit putts straight, and instead allowed for my natural push to the right, and it paid off.
