OK folks, what's the best way to create a concrete harbour/pier? Best example I've seen is the fishing village pier at St Bedes, and close scrutiny sees raised terrain lined with rocks to give a stone effect from distance. It looks great, but is there a better way? I had thought of extending a big square of cart path over low land, then sinking it all and raising rectangular patches back above water, but it doesn't work. As soon as it's underwater it reverts to just plain terrain. Could I line the sides of a terrain pier with the extraordinary retaining wall technique that was used on Underwood Retreat, and if so, how on earth was that achieved? Would it even work?
For now, I'm stuck with just plain old straight-line raised terrain, and it definitely needs tarted up a bit.
As ever, thanks in advance for your consideration.

It would be time-consuming, but you could use the single concrete step and build out a pier. Put some sort of fence posts under it for the raised effect. That's how I've built decks in the past.

Try sinking some of the tall office type buildings.

Ooh, I like it. Gonna try it and see if anything is narrow enough. Good thinking beef!
