Some minute ago i ended my first round at shadow hills. I'm very happy, not just for the -12 that's a good score (and unless i do some disaster in the next rounds, i should to avoid again some demotion mark, but this time not just cause guys with a better standing don't finish their rounds ),but cause it seems that finally i found the way to shot straight lines. Obviously the switch to the pro clubs was the key, mainly on my putt, cause with master clubs i have not big issues from tee to green, but i just can't shot one single straight putt. I'm confident that in one month of practice i can return to master clubs. About the course..it's a quite simple one, even playing with the wind almost always between 15/20 km/h. In the second round the ground conditions will be tougher..will see.

Furthermore,i have a question about thr round conditions. How it works really? I mean, before the start i always play a practice round to check the pin position, to check the clubs to put in the bag, mainly for the par 3s. To hrlp myself before to do this,i check how the next round in the toutnament is setted. And,for example,i played my practice round with first pin position and presetted wind. It was N. But,when i play my round in the tournament, the presetted wind was S and, into the last holes,SO. My question is..this presetted wind is simply random or is me that just don't understand something about how this works? ๐

Are you going into the event, seeing the conditions and then logging out? Not judging LOL just asking. The weather conditions in that weather report are pretty useless for matching round by round.
The wind might be N but inside that 18 holes it deviates with a tendency to go North mostly.
The course. Man make sure you are 100% on the fairway. That rough is a penalty, itโs a fun course to relax a little after the last few.

That rough is a penalty, itโs a fun course to relax a little after the last few.ย Is a legitimate question, but if i had checked the conditions in this way, i would be ready to that S wind, instead to be surprised expecting the N wind. But above this, for my purpose it would be useless to start a round to see the conditions, cause doing so i would pay this hypotethic advantage with losing the possiblity to change any clubs. As i noticed playing in my private society,if you start a round, even if you came out immediately without made a single shot, when you return to restart the round, then you'll have always the clubs you had in your bag on the first start. (Not only the single clubs, but if you started with masters clubs and then you try to restart with pro clubs,it will no work. You'll have always the master clubs). So said, considering that i wish to know BEFORE to start my round the direction on the wind just EXACTLY to decide what clubs to keep..it would be absolutely useless to do this thing. (and no,mate..you not only would have every right to judge it,but you HAVE to judge, if someone tries this kind of tricks. I really can't accept this kind of dirty craftiness..and it's always good if anyone of us don't accept them. Always. I know that it can seems to be a silly idea, but i really believe that this sport we are playing on videogames,it would be something for "gentleman",intended just as fair people. To be clear... I want to win. A LOT. I want to win and i want to reach the PGA tour. And soon or later i will. You can bet on it. But if the price to pay to obtain this it has to be became a cheater,or made this sort of dirty little games..well..i think i should start to keep the lights out when i go in my wc,just to avoid to see my face into the mirror.) but so said..i still think that's a bit a stupid thing to can't have a good idea about the wind direction before to start your round..i mean..i understand that this increase the difficulty,ok..but is that kind of data that in reality you can find everywhere and evetytime, even almost a week before to play, quite exactly, even if you are a sunday golfer. It's just unrealistic. But well..it's the same surprise for everybody at least. Then is ok.

Is strange, anyway. It was N even in my practice round. But in the tournament was S... and SO the last holes. This is a bit wrong. I understand to play everybody with no the exact same wind (it would not be realistic) but to play with an opposite wind could be a huge difference (good or bad it depends case by case,i suppose). Even if i was a bit surprise to find that medium high S wind,in the end i have not big issues. Just in one of the par 3s,the longest one..but it could be a lot worst. But thinking about this, the same thing happens to me in the second round at hazeltine. Wind exactly opposite of the one i found in practice round. Game mysteries...

If it says default for the wind direction it could be from any direction. Otherwise the directions in your practice round and the actual round should match.

Uuuh...i was thinking that "default" was meaning that you play with the wind predetermined by the designer..this change all the whole question! But then..this means then when we play with default wind,we are playing all with a different wind? This would be senseless, for me. But thanks for the explanation. I was really curious about this thing.

I was really curious about this thing. There is no way for a designer to set wind. You can only set it prior to rounds or in the case of a society for each round in an event. So default wind can be any direction, but within a society it should be similar amongst all players. I don't believe any events are set to have higher wind speeds unless the direction is specified.

Anyway (and then i shut up. I swear!!),i was thinking that is a bit wrong, this fact that a designer can't set a main wind. The wind is a great part of a course. A good course architect can do miracles with the right wind. But at least, this explains pretty well why some designer give some advice about the wind to use. I was thinking "why it says this thing if he can decide what wind to use by default?". Now i understand!

Well..i ended today my tournament. Normally i play my 4th saturday night, but after my third round was useless to wait to know other scores. So my rounds are -12,-6,-5,-12. I suspect that with my final -35 i will finish something like 1-2 strokes behind the 10 that will gain the promotion mark. I'm satisfied, obviously. But i can't stop the feeling that being just a bit more focused on some green in the third round, now i could be easily in the top ten of the pro club players. It would be a great satisfaction. But at least i knownthat i'm on the right way to be always competitive. I still struggle in the very hard conditions. I knew it,cause i still have not the habit to the very fast greens. I'll improve. Now i'll practice a bit this week-end for the first us open qualifying, while i hope to finish and to publish the list i'm working on by almost two months. About the US Open qualify,i already know is too soon to avoid to struggle again like the past week, but i want to see if and how i can improve the final E scored at hazeltine, trying also to play a bit better the next cc-c tournament. And today i'll watch the second round at Bethpage, hoping to found some streaming site working...

@thedominator273 it seems that for this week you gain the promotion mark too..congrats! I was wrong, cause looking at the easy condition of fourth round i was sure that they would be a lot of very low scores and that a -36/37 should be the minimum score for a promotion mark. Happy to be wrong I made also a practice round of this week course,on default conditions..Lot of elevation changes, but it seems to be another not very difficult course. We'll see. Good luck to everyone, guys!

The conditions for the first round are really easy. My only fear is about the slow greens, cause exactly as for the very fast ones,i struggle a bit. I miss often a bit of strenght in my putt. Or i shot a bomb trying to compensate. But if i find how to solve this, there's the chance to shot a 60,maybe better. There are a couple of long par 4,probably thry will give some issue with strong wind..but is an easy course. We'll see. I practice also at Monongahela. I feel myself very better with master clubs then at Hazeltine..but i really don't like the course. And i don't know if is only me,but when i dislike a course,it's easy that i play pretty bad. Too sensitive
