Well now we have options.
The reviews by fanboy reviewers, or brutally honest reviews by Brutus the barbaric master designer ...
LOL
And being able to disagree with all of them.

I am sure you are going in a sequence, but I am looking at a revamp of my course based on feedback, so anxiously looking for brutally honest feedback on Hill Valley CC. Thanks for doing this!

Hey tastegw, want to make sure you see this. Just going to keep this as brief as possible. I appreciate the feedback you gave on the 4 or 5 holes that you gave a modicum of attention to, especially as it relates to visibility of the tee boxes. Matter of fact, I was laughing my ass off at your drawings of my mistakes and even started pausing the video to take screenshots for a funny "review of the review" post in this thread that showcased those amazing drawing skills of yours. You seem like a funny dude who was trying to help a first time designer, I just wish that had lasted longer. So here's my "brutal honesty": If you aren't even going to look at shots before hitting them, what's the point in playing? I think you made more putts with your driver than your putter, and - despite committing to watching it all the way through - when you broke out the driver in the bunker (again) on 18 I had enough. I have no disillusions about where my course stacks up with the field, or just in general, but you could have at least paid me the tiniest bit of respect for my effort and given more than 25% of your shots a look rather than just wacking away with ridiculous shots. If you're goal was to be helpful, or provide feedback, or whatever, I don't see how you think that was the case. I absolutely have a ton of learning to do here, and I know it, which was why I was looking forward to your play through. If you didn't want to do that because it was too much of a hassle, then great, no hard feelings, no one was making you do these - or I'll just speak for myself and say I wasn't, though I was very happy to get feedback from you knowing your level of designing skill. I really don't know why you even kept playing, should have just stopped and given me a 0, I would have preferred that. I have no problem with "brutally honest feedback," but that was just you not caring - which is what I was hoping to get from someone as well regarded in the smaller community of designers as yourself. Since seeing your post earlier today and knowing you had streamed your play through, I was looking forward to watching. I knew it would be highly critical, as it should have been, but damn man...that wasn't brutal honesty, that was just you wasting 20 minutes by messing around on a sh%$ course. Thanks anyway, I'll at least remember to make those fairways visible from now on, which was something I hadn't honestly considered until getting feedback from others on this. Varying tree heights, circles are the way of nature, smoother retaining wall, greens with "purpose" (had tried do to this, just not very well), etc., appreciate those tips. Cheers

Cheers hey man, thanks for the feedback. and i do apologize if it offended you, well, not really, but you got the idea, thats all that matters. anyways, we are all big boys and girls here. the reasons for these reviews are to give the courses scores, im not really here to give tips on every thing i see, even though i am doing that most of the time i see them. some designers in this contest, including yourself, are better served watching tutorial videos and reading up on the forums on tips and tricks posted by our established designers like crazycanuck, reebdoog, and others. there comes a certain point where while playing any particular course that you just know the designer is in above his head, and i dont mean that disrespectfully. if i took the time to point out all the miss-q's your course had, it would have been around 2 hours long. it didnt mean i didnt care after that point, i just wanted to have a little fun with it. you should watch pablo 's review, he has a decent course, not the best, but not the worst either, and to make light of one particular design decision on the back nine, i wrote a loving and caring quote at the top of screen and said i was going to be silent the rest of the way, and i did. there are a lot of courses to get to here, im trying to average out less than an hour for each course. some courses are just going to get shafted when they have no chance at scoring well as we already have two great courses that have scored in the 90's, if i really wanted to quit on the lesser courses, id quit them after the first hole if they had no chance of getting into the 90's. thats not fun.
