I think you are protesting way too much here. My original comment was that people are worried about what a President Trump would do. I said except for reversing Obama's Executive Orders, there isn't a lot that he could do immediately. I also then said that Harry Reid was an obstructionist and Obama lackey who sacrificed what few morals he had to protect the reputation of Obama instead of doing what his constituents sent him there, which was to legislate. He did everything but in the last 6 years he was there.
Finally it doesn't matter what Executive Orders I think were good or bad, Trump said he would reverse all the 'illegal' ones and the ones he didn't like.

With the exception of reversing all of Obama's Executive Orders, there isn't much else he can change immediately. Sure he can overturn Obamacare, but then what? Does he want to have nothing in place? Pretty much everything he promised is going to be 1, 2, 3 years down the road and will have to done in stages. Knee-jerk reactions, of course are a different story. Maybe his kids can take away the key to the nuclear football too. My concerns aren't about immediate, they are overall. Whether it's 1, 2 or 3 years down the road does not lessen the level of concern. His knee jerk reactions to what happens around him is not restricted to twitter. Which is why that concern is above all the others.

It's pretty clear so far that the Donald can't handle his decisions being questioned, scrutinised or criticised. He's spent the last 7 days locked away in his Tower throwing out the occasional tweet. And now apparently experienced national security experts are being "purged" at the behest of Jared Kushner, and he wants his children to be given top security clearance. In his last tweet he referred to people in the running for the top jobs as "finalists". All this does feel like a bit of a Reality TV Show. Sadly it's just.....reality

All this does feel like a bit of a Reality TV Show. Sadly it's just.....reality Bit of a chicken or egg situation, that. World is getting really interesting lately. One of these grey swans should pop the bubble sooner or later... This pattern of stagnation --> nationalism has happen a couple of times before. End result is usually war. Let's hope "this time is different".

If he wanted to show the country that he can make good choices he didn't do it with this. All the other stuff is just rumor and such, will wait and see what the real decisions are but if Bannon is any indication then the clown car will truly be something to behold.

You are always going to get folks like Bannon in there. I'm not saying exactly like him but the most powerful person in Obama's administration is none other than Valerie Jarred. She was highly controversial coming in, never had to go through confirmation and is arguably more powerful than Biden, Kerry, Reid and Pelosi combined. Van Jones was another extremely controversial person who came in. He made a few off colour remarks and was promptly forced to resign.

The willingness to normalize bad choices because someone else may have made bad choices in the past. We see it constantly when someone is questioned about what they have done. Instead of justifying or answering to their actions with solid reason, the comeback is always "well those other guys did this and had that". This needs to stop and true accountability needs to start. And it doesn't start with "well the other guys need to be accountable first". No, they don't. The person at the top needs to be the one to start it, regardless of those before him.

What also has to stop is treating one President one way and another President the other way. For example, Trump ditches his press pool to go out to dinner with his wife BEFORE he is even President. Media goes insane. 8 years prior Obama does the same thing AS President while on vacation in Hawaii. Media reports that he wanted alone time with his wife. Obama took 3 weeks to make his FIRST cabinet appointment, Reagan almost 5 weeks. We aren't even two weeks in an the media is criticizing Trump for no appointments made.
When the media and people complain so loudly about picks like Bannon, that is fair game, but so is bringing up past Presidential picks who were equally outrageous that got little to no media scrutiny. I'm not a fan of Bannon, but in politics you gotta sleep with those that brought you there, that is how it is. For better or worse, Bannon helped get him elected. Presidents are viewed in history when they are brought up in comparison of others who have held the post. Obama was compared with the other first black President, Bill Clinton. Bush with Bush and with Reagan. It is how it goes. I just find the hypocrisy of the media and others whining about a person they view as racist/bigoted can do so why they remained dead silent on a pick like Van Jones who is also a racist/bigot, but then he is black so I guess you aren't allowed to call him that or some nonsense. And NO I'm not saying I approve of Bannon, but if you are going to complain about him, to be fair then you need to look at others who have been picked in the same manner to do the same position, because lets face it, the ONLY reason they are 'advisors' and not some more prominent job is because A) The won't ever get confirmed B) They can act silently behind the scenes.

Not sure what media you are checking in with but I haven't heard anyone criticizing the length of Trump's process. In fact, watching CNN this morning with my coffee, they were explaining to their viewers about how Obama didn't appoint anyone until Nov 24th (Geitner at the Treasury I believe). They also were explaining that Trump's campaign didn't expect to win so there were a lot of measures not in place like most candidates would have had. I thought that was pretty fair reporting. Bannon is still a problem, no matter how it's sliced. A big problem. I don't care what happened before him. Pointing out what happened previously is directly going back to what i said about accountability and the old "well those other guys did this". So no. I don't have to look back. We all have to look forward and stop making the same mistakes. Do what you've always done and you'll get what you've always got.
