I'm betting over 1/2 of them didn't vote but young people these days do love to protest. Bad losers, smells bad. Also probably the same people who normally yaps on about how they love democracy and how we need to protect it.... The right to protest (peacefully) is as much a part of democracy as the right to vote. I don't think they seriously expect it to change anything - but they have the right to continue to express their view. I doubt Trump would have disappeared quietly into the night had he lost

He absolutely nailed it here. I hope Democrats listen. Get off their elitist platform and engage in conversation and civil debate instead of hurling insults.

The rant was about why Democrats are to blame. He already made the point in the beginning of why Trump wasn't his choice. I know the flaws of the Conservatives and readily admit them. The problem is many Dems, especially those that touted and got Hillary nominated, don't.

Protest in itself is an unfortunate consequence of democracy, sure. But the contents of the protest in this case is undemocratic.
The "Not my President" people - are they now renoucing their citizenship then? Canada may be the country that needs to build a wall...
Pretty sure you are right it would have been exactly the same no matter who won. Does not make it any better, but the Trump fans would come across as slightly less hypocritical. There was a race, one side lost as is the case with those things. It's over, get on with it.

This is the best representation I could find. 1/2 the US population is in the dark blue. This is why there is an electoral collage.

This is the best representation I could find. 1/2 the US population is in the dark blue. This is why there is an electoral collage. I absolutely believe that we should have an electoral college, but I'm also of the opinion that it should be modernized. I honestly believe that it should be done by congressional districts rather than "winner-take-all". Florida is a perfect example of why. It's not fair to either candidate. While I in no way support her, it's not fair that she lost electoral votes in areas where she overwhelmingly got the most votes. Likewise, had she won the state it wouldn't have been fair to Trump to lose electoral votes when 85% of the state outside of Miami, Orlando, and Tampa voted for him. I truly believe if they modified the existing college to be a vote per congressional district it gives more credence to the idea of "every vote counts". You have multiple districts even in California that would go GOP, but as is there is no way in hell they can overcome the population centers of LA, San Diego, San Francisco, and San Jose. Same in every state that has a major metropolitan area. It's just more representative of the people and goes a long ways to making the public feel like their voice is being heard...they actually have the power to make changes in areas where it has no chance of existing at the moment.

What people forget is we do have a populous vote, but instead of one vote it is 51 votes. Each state and the District of Columbia use the populous vote to determine the winner.

Is it actually true that 46.9% of the eligible voters did not vote?

Is it actually true that 46.9% of the eligible voters did not vote? About 44% by the looks of it - roughly 100M people. Unbelievable really
