I was completely unaware of any of this until I was tagged and came to see what the hub-bub was all about. I have been asked by HB and the Admin here not to relay the actual cheat Steve used. HB does have a program to detect the type of cheating and to this point I’m not aware of anyone else who has been caught using the same exploit, but HB nor the Admin here really want the headache of people “experimenting” which I can fully agree with. What I will do is give a basic outline of what happened. Back early in season one, Steve and I were looking into ball 'squirt'. At that time HB denied its existence, something that they later said did exist and was put into the game intentionally before they removed it earlier this year. We were trying to find ways to replicate it or find out why it was happening. At the time all we had to go on was what we had seen and the fact that the majority of the other players, not on PC were thinking that I was crazy and seeing things. We started to theorize that it might be just be happening on PC and not on the other consoles. If that was the case, was it a bug or was it intentional. The word we were getting from Loren from HB at the time, was that it was NOT intentional. We believed him and really wanted to see if we could figure out what the bug was, in order to help HB fix the issue. We tried everything. Steve came to me and told me of a way he found to minimize the squirt. I tried it and found that it didn’t resolve the ball squirt issue at all. What I did find tho, was that it could be used as an exploit. I had discovered an exploit that was completely unrelated to what we were trying to discover and it would allow anyone to shoot incredible scores. Now if you are into computer games or the computer industry, such exploits are not uncommon. Last decade there were many games that fell victim to these types of exploits. This particular exploit I had seen before in games a decade earlier. I never thought about it much because I figured everyone in the industry would know about these types of things and surely they wouldn’t code a game that allowed exploits used a decade ago right? Wrong. But whatcha going to do? At the time I didn't think about it too much. Games have holes that can be exploited all the time. Having been a Guide on games like EQ and EQ2, I know what happens when you knowingly exploit an exploit. You get banned. Just look what Bethezda is doing to all those Overwatch players who are cheating. Besides I was still looking for ball squirt answers and this was not an answer to that issue and so I moved on. About 3 weeks later the Masters happens, Steve wins, then is suspended. All we were told was that he was suspected of cheating. He had an amazing four rounds back then. It didn't take long for me to put two and two together. He was the one who started testing that particular theory and if I figured the exploit within a practice round, he surely must have. It was then I went to the Admins of TGCT and HB. I wrote a long letter to both sets of admin, explaining pretty much everything. I showed my methodology, shared what my observations and what my results were. I told HB that this was a HUGE exploit that anyone could use to get amazing scores and to TGCT I explained my conversations with Steve and why we were testing this in the first place. I was fully open and honest with everyone. HB said thanks and that they would work to have a better API in the future to catch people doing this. TGCT thanked me for filling in the gaps they didn't have with Steve. Both sets of admins then asked me not to spread this around, first because it was an exploit they didn't want out there as common knowledge and second even though they were confident they could catch people it was a huge headache and pain in the arse. And that is that. I continued my quest on finding about ball squirt and the issue was laid to rest. I didn't know Boomer was Steve and find it a shame that all this happened. As I said earlier, the reason I'm bringing this whole story up now is that my name, once again was dragged up once again. I know the admins had my back as I originally came to them about it, but no one else knew. Time has passed, it has been brought back up, the APIs are in place and I still can’t tell the full story, but I'm tired of being seen by some as the bad guy. I can be a pain in the arse, I admit that, but from the start I have been upfront with HB and the Admins about everything. Everything that I looked into was in my eyes, something to help better this game. Squirt was real and I have found several bugs in the game, some that were fixed, others that can't be. I still love the game and I enjoy this community. We have a good thing going here. No need to get this thread locked by going over old news i speak to a few of the banned players they accepted that the admins didnt want the word used anymore, and have moved on they just want to be able to have there say on steve boomboom lillico especially smurf he and boomboom have always agreed on cheats

So freedom of speech isn't about being able to speak freely. I know that the freedom of speech act is constantly abused by the US and CAN governments but jesus. Was Snowden the only guy with any vision over there? I must have missed that famous Churchill speech when he said. Like they all pointed out..... It was banter between friends. If you don't like it then why can't you just ignore it? Why couldn't they take their "banter between friends" to a group pm? It's obvious you're going to beat this dead horse til there's nothing left of it. If an admin or staff member shows up and asks for an offensive word to stop being used, why continue to use said word and even push the issue? This is kindergarten crap, man...anybody with any kind of critical thinking skills sees this. Instead of moving on we're going to sit here and debate an indefensible position. It's been happening on forums for over 20 years: a person uses offensive language/behavior, a mod asks them to stop, they don't stop, they get banned. There's no reason to cry foul or complain after the fact...they were given fair warning and chose to ignore it. This is common sense stuff here... |

so i have an question on the matter exploits CAN we catch does doing this today ? can you say all members are clean up on today or is there still doubts in what API can see ?.......

My view is anyone of the "top" players who isn't willing to live Twitch stream their rounds (at least occasionally) or is isn't willing to play versus "live" opponents is a cheat. This surprises me not one single bit, and part of the reason why TGCT lost it's appeal to me over time. Adding in cross platform competition only opens up the doors even more for cheats, which is why I prefer to play with my group of XB guys who are honest players and not concern myself with some PC guy with a straight edge or server exploit.
And for the record I can't tell the voices match definitively, they both sound like your typical canadian hoser to me....could be the same guy or maybe not. I really don't care one way or another but excellent detective work to track this lad down if indeed he was using an illegal account.
