Hi there. So... This seems like a pretty great little community with some exceptions here and there like any other. I'm writing simply to reach out and let you guys know about something that happened to me today and to see if maybe there is some other opportunity out there that I may not have previously explored. I'm not looking for sympathy or well wishes though I'll take them. I'm curious and hopeful that perhaps someone in this little golf video game community might have a connection or an idea that can help me out.
Today I lost my job. I won't go into the details. Suffice it to say that it was my mistake that cost me my job though I believe the reaction was somewhat extreme. It happens and we have to move on with our lives.
I'll tell you a little about myself: I'm 39 years old, married, will soon have 4 children and live in Ankeny Iowa (just north of Des Moines). For the last five and a half years I have worked at Karl Chevrolet, one of the premiere GM Dealers in the country. I worked in sales for two years and then moved into a finance manager position. Previously I had worked in a tech support field for an EDI Data translation and communication company called Sterling Commerce which has since been taken over by IBM. I've had experience with voice over for commercials and promos as well as kiosk type displays.
I have worked as a caddy, a grocery store produce guy and several other odd jobs that were mainly data entry or professional assistant in nature. Having worked at Karl Chevrolet I'd say I'm good for just about any sales type of job or even a finance position. However I don't know that I can work true sales hours any more with my family growing the way it is.
I've been out of tech for a while but I could get back in without too much trouble as well. I'm good with people too if you need.
I'm not posting a resume here...just a blurb to see if any of my friend from this game might come up with something I do not. Stranger things have happened. Send me a PM if you can help out. Thanks!
