I think I finished somewhere around -39. -10, -10, -9, -10. Just couldn't find the putting stroke this week during any round. Wish I could've taken better advantage of the first two rounds!

After yesterday's round, I knew I had to make a good start and I started like a bat out of hell, like a greyhound from the traps, like a Dean Huddleston waking up after a drunken night out on the streets of Sunderland wearing his Newcastle shirt. I was on fire, hole one, four foot birdie, hole two, four foot birdie, hole three, four foot birdie, hole four, four foot bunker shot, god dammit. It was going so well, and hole four has eagle written all over it, let alone birdie and I make a damn par. Golf sucks and as soon as I win on the pga, the euro tour, all the majors and then defend all those titles, I am giving up for good. I headed to the fifth with the wind taken out of my sails. It was unlikely I was ever going to make the cut but that start give a glimmer of hope. I birdied the fifth but was not going to get excited again, I know would happen if I did, I am going to play the rest of the round with a look of utter devastation on my face. When I birdied the sixth, I knew the game was messing with me, trying to get my hopes up again before bashing them against a rock. I was having none of it. Two more birdies followed, maybe just maybe I could pull something off, sometimes special and unexpected things happen in sport, could this be my day. I knew it, why did I think like that, missed a five foot putt on the ninth, cruel and evil game.
Maybe I should play the back nine badly, put myself out of my misery, yeah that's what I will do. My approach on ten was ninety five yards, so a eighty yard pitch shot should leave it will short, the perfect bounce, I got the damn perfect bounce and easy birdie, well that plan did not work. Two foot birdie putt on eleven to go nine under, what the hell is going on here. I did not do as well on the twelfth, I left myself a three foot birdie putt, ten under. I played thirteen poorly, over hit my approach, there was still a birdie chance that I just misread, I think the first time in the round I played two poor shots in a row. I took a little bit of time over the tee shot on fourteen, I was in two minds about which club to hit, I guess I made the right choice as I hit a fine tee shot, the birdie putt was no gimme but it dropped. I don't always play par threes well, birdie on all of them today was hugely positive in terms of progress. My fourth par of the day came on fifteen, my approach looked so good in the air but just rolled away from the hole when it landed. I was feeling a bit more relaxed now, the cut might be still beyond me but I did not give up after round one, despite my silly bluster( I just like to have fun with my round reports), I did try as hard as I could for a good second round and to be honest am pretty proud of the effort I put in. Three holes to play, another birdie or two and who knows. I got one of those birdies on sixteen, I played the hole well from start to finish and was rewarded with a tap in. My approaches today were mainly spot on, they were not bad yesterday either but today I was getting them that little bit closer and of course the putts were dropping today. On seventeen, I landed my approach pretty close again, left a nine foot birdie putt which again dropped. And I am happy to report, the last hole went the same way, great approach, three foot birdie putt, to finish with a bogey free fourteen under.
To be honest, there are times when I doubt I am good enough for the web, especially when I see the quality of golfer here. Having a round like that shows me that when I play well, I can justify me being here. The consistency is not there at the moment and it might be awhile before I am not battling the cut line but I can leave today with my head held high. I might not make round three but I gave myself a fighting chance and I can't ask for much more than that, have fun all.

Wasted opportunities.
-8 in the first round. Hit every green, every fairway and took 30 putts, including 2 three putt bogeys.
-10 in the second after starting -4 through 4 holes.
I don't know if -18 will get me to the firm and fast weekend.

I don't know if -18 will get me to the firm and fast weekend. Sounds very similar to my style of play for Rounds 1 and 2. I think I had 26 putts after hitting every fairway in Round 1. I'm sitting at -20 after two. I think we will both be sweating out the cut.

Two rounds in the books, played really well round one to get in at 61, little bit less so with round 2 in 66 so I'm at the halfway at -17. Impossible to say where that will leave me, through one I'm T11 as things stand and Round 2 seemed a little harder but some of you guys here are posting some really nice numbers.
Fingers crossed this isn't a one time deal for me!

Well I suppose you are all waiting to see how a guy who came out of nowhere to pick up his first win on the web last week would do on a course that he designed... Even if you weren't wondering at all, or don't care, I'm sure you will get a laugh. Coming into the tournament with a ton of momentum, the wedges and irons were dialed in early. Sticking approaches tight, and making most of the putts. Confidently strutting off the course after my Friday round sitting at -22, within striking distance of the leaders, I felt pretty good. Before I could get to my hotel room, for some much needed rest following two days in the Arizona heat, I ran into Moe Slorkman . "Great work on the course Nick! I really enjoyed my round out there," He exclaimed. I didn't find out until later that he sat pirched just a few spots above me on the leaderboard. I went on the thank him for selecting coyote canyon to host the web again this year, and told him how excited I was to see it now with significant improvements to the water budget. Just before I could slip away into my air conditioned penthouse sweet (sponsored by the web.com tour for winning last week) Moe Slorkman extended me an invitation that I knew I should have refused. "Come out and have a pint with the fellas," he said, "we have some celebrating to do" What at could it hurt, one drink I thought. .... hours passed ... next at thing I knew I woke up on the floor in my hotel with the sun already beating in the window, and I knew I was going to be late to my tee time. Raced to the course, no time to hit the range, or even a putt on the practice green. It took me until the 3rd hole to realize something was wrong. It turns out, in the haze of the previous evening, Moe had convinced me to call up the greenskeeper. "Scores are too low," we told him. "I want a double cut, and double roll for tomorrow" "Are you sure?" Greenskeeper Willy replied, "we have never tried to push these greens that fast before." "am I sure, phhhffffsshh," I slurred, "I'm the king of firm and fast." It it was that moment, when willy reminded me of this late night phone conversation, that my heart sank. I knew my tournament would be a battle from here on out. By the time I finaly reached the 18th on Sunday, still sweating out booze from two nights previous, I could hardly stand up. Defeated by the mental battle, and the Arizona heat, I knew that Moe Slorkman had defeated me on my own course. The lesson to be learned here, is never go out for "a pint" with an Irishman, and expect to be yourself the next day. Good luck to everyone who is yet to finish, I will be in my air conditioned suite, watching old replays of last weeks tournament.
