ahh I just went on a diet.
Went back to the cafe an unloaded all my junk, then found my way back to vault, found some 10mm ammo, and a cryo gun that i cant get yet because I dont have the lock picking skills yet.
Thanks to google I have a better idea what I need to do.
This is bloody addictive, can't get enough of it, first game since TGC that has given me that kind of enthusiasm. Now if only I can figure out how to loft up the stupid's dogs brain.

I also am a Fallout rookie that has no idea what I'm doing. Perks, SPECIALs, crafting, etc...I have no idea what I'm doing and I'm still enjoying myself. I can only imagine how I would enjoy it if I actually could figure some of these things out.

www.reddit.com/r/fo4 -- maybe try here? (I'm trying to avoid spoilers but I'm also a Reddit guy). I think my experience playing a couple hundred hours of Skyrim sort of helps me at least feel not too unfamiliar with how things work here...

I've got a few or a hundred hours in Skyrim myself. Hope it helps when I finally get to play.

For those that don't know what to do. Just let the game unravel itself infront of you by exploration, this is the beauty of the fallout series.

Started it on hard... Planned to play carefully and stay alive. Met the deathclaw - turned it off...

Yep, 4+ hours today of just wandering, learning movement, memorizing where I am,shooting stuff, scavenging, fast travelling back to the cafe where I'm storing everything. Spent lots of time in the satellite station, lots of fun. Couple side quests. No more ammo worries either. It definitely does unravel before you as you go. As opposed to TGC where I unravel before the game. Dog is still stupid. When do I get a hot blonde companion? /addicted Fallout noob

So jealous of you guys right now...with this hotel wifi it would probably take a whole day to download the game. Besides, don't know if I want to spend a week playing in the hotel room when I could be out exploring a new city and meeting old friends. I'll have to settle for some streams for now...

After having played for a another day I have to say I 100% agree with this. The amount of discovery in this game is incredible. I figure something else out every 2 min or so...I feel like I am a much more capable survivor of a nuke today than I did yesterday. Enjoying every minute of this game so far!

I'm not used to to not being able to play a game I want right out of the gate.

I am at level 5 but I haven't gotten any perks yet. Did I screw up? I thought I needed to get the top line to 10 before I could get a perk but I think that's wrong.....

there are a couple of things that bug me on this one so far. The dumbed down conversation wheel is seriously ticking me off. It really cramps any mods. Speaking of mods having the main character voiced is also going to make it a giant pain the behind. I'm already trying to imitate the protagonist's voice so that when the time comes I can help out.
The way the scenes change when you're talking also bugs me. I liked it all being in first person like the last two games. Call me weird but I miss that a lot.
The totally confusing mechanics used for building stuff stinks too.

nope, you can go down to the next level at any point. You don't need to fill up the first level to move down. I made the same mistake.
