Situated high north on the coastal town of Bettyhill this new course features some of the most challenging aspects you can find on a golf course. With the front 9 playing a SSS of 38 and a Par of 36 it is sure to challenge even the best of golfers. High winds can be expected at all times and whilst the greens are only medium/firm with a 150ft putt rollout, the hills found on them will be challenge enough.
This premium golf club has membership packages beginning at £1,499 per annum although this has been reduced to an introductory offer of £799 per annum up until the full course is opened.
Never played here before? Thats fine! You can take on a trial round for just £30! Please beware that we feature 2 clubhouses... One which can look after the docked boats visiting to play and another for the rest of the members.
Please find below course guide and pictures
Hole 1 - Village (Par 4 - 489 Yards)
A beautiful backdrop of the village Bettyhill awaits you as you step up to the first tee. For a low handicapper the mid fairway bunkers should not come into play but the rear seperating the 2 fairways certainly will. On your approach be wary of the innevitable right-left slope lie you will have. Ignore this and you will be in the drink
Hole 2 - Boundry (Par 5 - 588 Yards)
The first hole that offers you choice. The big hitters can make the green in 2 in favourable conditions. You need a good 10mph wind behind you to do this. Those that fancy their chances can hit a long drive down the thin fairway to the left whilst the higher handicappers can go straight down the middle and accept a 150 yards shot to the green for their 3rd.
Hole 3 - Bowl (Par 3 - 195 Yards)
This par 3 plays 36 feet uphill over a large bowl of water. Fluff your drive here and you will be at 3 from the tee. The flag can not be seen from the tee, however convieniently placed there is a very large oak behind the green which shows your direct line to the flag. Be prepared to gather your breath before you putt after your long hard ascent.
Hole 4 - R+R (Par 4 - 453 Yards)
After a gruelling first 3 holes this Par 4 will see a lot of golfers pick up their first birdie of the day. Sharing a green with the 6th this Par 4 has a wide open landing area for your tee shot to leave a 180 approach to a fairly simple green. You have gone horribly wrong somewhere here to bogey this one.
Hole 5 - Surrounded (Par 3 - 187 Yards)
Another Par 3 which has water... This time it surrounds most of the green area. It shouldnt cause too many problems but the view is simply spectacular. The hardest part of this hole is navigating the cart path without getting wet!
Hole 6 - Signature (Par 4 - 462 Yards)
The courses signature hole. Depending how you play it this can run as little as 400 yards to as much as 500 yards. A sharp dogleg left awaits with a circular landing area for your drive. The catch is that there is a nice large bunker in the middle of this area followed by some gorse to get to the green. Land in the bunker and you will do well to not have to lay up and go for the green in 3. The green is shared with the 4th hole.
Hole 7 - Blind (Par 4 - 459 Yards)
The 2nd hole to feature a blind tee shot with another tree this time central in the fairway to guide you. High handicappers keep it left of the tree and you will be fine, Low handicappers if you want to smash it then be wary... If you hit the tree then we told you so! Your approach covers 2 large bunkers that unless your drive was very short shouldnt really feature. Again there is a beautiful backdrop of the local village to get the adrenaline pumping
Hole 8 - Lighthouse (Par 5 - 563 Yards)
Another dog leg left. In favourable conditions you can skip the first fairway all together but not many will fancy that especially with that leaving a very difficult lie to the flag. Stick it safe in the fairway for the first and you should get to the green in 3 relatively unchallenged. Once the full course is complete the lighthouse will be providing snacks in the form of sausage rolls and the like to keep you ready for the back 9
Hole 9 - Coast (Par 4 - 318 Yards)
A Par 4 that is makeable in 1 for the very best. Eagle is possible here, Birdies are likely and is the only hole on the front 9 where par is not a great score. Set down the coast and leading back to the clubhouse the view is incredible. CCTV is being played from a tree near the hole and any hole in ones will be greated at the clubhouse with a 5 course meal on the house for 2!
The view from the village looking across the road at the 1st green and the fairway beyond. The lighthouse can also vaguely be seen
An aerial view taken above the 3rd green. To the left you can see the 4th fairway. In the middle is the 5th hole and to the right the first half of the 6th
To complete our tour, this photo was taken by a spritely member eating his sausage sandwich after a round. It shows the lighthouse and the approach and green of the 9th
We hope you enjoy your round and see you soon!
