Hello everyone!
It's time for another TGCTLive! course design contest! We are moving away from the 9-hole par 3 contests for now, and going with something new.
The Contest- 18 competitors (14 main contestants, 4 reserves for potential withdraws) will be asked to design a nine hole, par 35 or 36 course. The twist of this contest however, is that you are given a theme at RANDOM!
What do I win?- The winning entry will receive a $25 dollar Steam/Xbox/Playstation gift card (winner's choice).
Judges?- Myself, Elz_41 and Dr. Yeti will be judging again and using similar criteria to the par 3 contests (playability, fun factor, beauty, hole design). More on this soon!
Schedule
Phase 1: Registration- This will run from today until all spots are filled.
Phase 2: Theme Selection- On an upcoming episode of TGCTLive! (as soon as next week) we will be bringing back everyone's favorite prop, the WHEEL OF RANDOMNESS! The 14 main competitors will be assigned one of 7 themes. Boreal, Countryside, Harvest, Tropical, Highlands, Delta and Swiss. Two competitors/theme. The reserves will also be randomly given a theme to use as well.
Phase 3: Course Building- From the time the selection show is over, designers will be given 30 days to create their course. Throughout the design process, we ask that NO WIP THREADS are created. We want all entries to be a surprise. Also, you are not allowed to use and designs you have previously started (honor system here!). You are allowed to start a design as soon as you enter, but do not do any planting as you will not know what your theme is until Phase 2 is over.
Phase 4: Judging- Once the deadline has been reached, Elz, Yeti and I will play the courses over a series of TGCT Live! episodes. We will randomly draw the course order. The judges will be playing each course a few times to finalize their scores.
Phase 5: Awards- Once the judging has been completed, we will hold an awards show on Twitch that highlights strengths of the different entries and we announce the big winner!
A couple more things:
-Only enter the contest if you are flexible and prepared to design in any theme the wheel gives you. No trading themes. We will not be too happy if people start dropping as soon as they get a theme they might not like.
-Only enter if you are confident you can create a quality 9 hole course in the 30 day time limit.
-Reserve contestants can be turned into main contestants at anytime, so these designers should be working on a course as well.
