Faced with the possibility of earning a Tour Card to the "Big Show," I'm finding myself a bit reluctant to want to be in the Pro Tours. TGCT is all about feeling competitive in your group, setting attainable goals, trying to beat your nemesis, etc. I'm not sure I'll have as much fun on a Pro Tour. But at the same time, I don't want to tank the last 4 Web events...Not much sportsmanship in that. Anybody feeling the same trepidation?

Not really. I get what you are saying, but I just go with the flow and play. Let things fall into place. You might surprise yourself on the PGA. If you have friends who are in a different level, than I could see how it might not be as fun.

My happiest moments were on the web.com tour when I first started. Oh how I loved those Shivering Pines and Loch Lorne courses. I hold a Euro card now but still seem to be in skill bracket of the web.com players.

I was just typing my thoughts on this topic, the tours, and tour placements, and qualifying for PGA and was up to 3 paragraphs and realized how complicated this stuff really is. Kuddo's to the team running this place, wow what a task and an achievement. Great job, I have an even greater appreciation for the work done here once I turned my head to this stuff and thought about both sides to every coin.

A large group of us will be moving up so you'll be playing amongst many familiar faces up there.

I have been blinded by the thought of moving up(which I will not) and while I am not known for caring about anyone but myself but this got me thinking about the pro card holders who will lose their cards that cant be fun

You can always self demote if you still feel this way on the PGA after a while. I started on the PGA after Q School, and self demoted for competitive reasons.

Yeah I think it's good to give it a shot for 3-4 weeks and if you feel it's totally out of your league, ask to self-demote. I'll admit I'm a bit scared of the same thing happening given the number of cards available in the Web finals (which I barely made!)

We aren't monsters! We'll maybe a few of us are...
Voluntary Demotions are there for those of you that get promoted and constantly struggle. For others, I think that playing with better competition will elevate your game to levels you didn't think possible. Heck, I just used an 8i chip today so that a flop/pitch wouldn't spin back to my feet. It was scary I tell you...an 8i chip! does anyone even know how far those are supposed to go?? (and it worked a treat too - had a nice little tap in for bird)

Yeah, I'm kinda on board with what you and Colin said. Why not give it a shot, see how it goes, and if I miss a bunch of cuts I can always come back down to the Web.

I sort of agree with the original poster but figure if I do get promoted I'll play a season in the Euros and if I'm not good enough I'll end up losing my card and back down to web. I think that's the way we should approach it.

I'm also one who's been there and self demoted. I was tired of playing decent and just struggling to make cuts. I do think my game has improved, so if I'm lucky enough to get back, I'll resume the grind at the big tour and do my best!
