Would you rather be Patton Kizzire at the top of the web or people like Justin Thomas, Tony Finau and David Lingmerth battling in big PGA tournaments trying to make a name for themselves.

I've had my PGA card since the original Q-School way back when and I felt like many of you when I first started playing the tour events... Missing cuts left and right, losing interest in the game because I felt I had no chance every week, following DaddyJules and CGilb's ghostballs on XB1 and seeing them beat me by 10 shots every round(lol), I was inches from taking the voluntary demotion but I stuck with it and slowly but surely I actually started to play better. I think I missed probably 7-8 cuts out of the first like 14-15 events or so, the cuts that I did make I barely squeaked in only to finish near the bottom anyways. I finally accepted that I would probably never have a shot at winning an event and that was ok so I lowered my standards. First, it was making cuts consistently, brought so much more excitement to Fridays and seeing where the cut line ended up and if I had made it. It was off and on at first but I'm currently on a 10 week streak of making cuts, which has been fun. Then it was trying to qualify for the WGC and Major Events. Missed the WGC Cadillac, missed the WGC Match Play, Masters tournament... again nope missed that, U.S. Open.. still not quite but I was getting closer. I didn't qualify outright for the Open Championship but they announced the qualifier events for us on the outside, I practiced my butt off on the course for that and wouldn't you know it, I actually finished #1 in the qualifier event that I registered for. Finally, I made it to a Major! It wasn't even a real tournament and didn't count for anything but just seeing my name at the top of a leaderboard was cool haha. I played like crap in the Open and failed to make the cut but that was ok I was happy to even make it. WGC Bridgestone came up next and once again I didn't qualify, but I played the alternate event that week and finished alone in 3rd. I made the PGA Championship field and managed a T-17 finish, only 2 shots away from a top 10 finish against the best. Some might not be thrilled with that result but it was big success for me. Finally able to make cuts on a consistent basis, my next goal was my WGR. Back in March I was ranked #278, 10 weeks ago I was sitting at #142 in the rankings and really wanted in that top 100. Last week, I made it... #96! Woohoo! Took 10 weeks but it gave me something to play for each week. Even after all the missed cuts early on, I'm currently sitting #34 on the FedEx cup points with only the top 30 moving on after next week. Working on the course for the BMW Championship next week is the most pressure/excitement I've had on a video game in a long time. Probably since the early days of WoW trying to down new bosses in the 40 man raids lol. I know I'll need a pretty good finish to jump those last 4 spots and make it to the Tour Championship. I still try to play with Jules and CGilbs ghostballs every tournament since they are almost always at the top of the pack and I feel crazy that I can actually keep up with them sometimes. I almost never beat them over a 4 round tournament still but finally I can sometimes beat them on at least 1 round here and there, which I never thought I'd be able to do months ago. I even find myself trash talking their ghostballs during some tourneys begging them to miss a putt or yelling at them for hitting every damn approach shot 2 feet from the hole lol(Sorry Chris and Jules if you read this ). I've never even talked to those guys but they've become my biggest rivals to try and beat each week on tour. Anyways, I guess my point is that there are a lot of goals you could set for yourself up on the PGA Tour that are more attainable than you might think and that you would probably never be able to achieve staying down on the Web.com. The best of the best can become your nemesis to try and beat and competing with the best that this game has to offer is a blast(most of the time ha). It may not happen right away but you'll get there eventually. Gotta start small. You can do it!
