Wish everybody would stop going on about things you can do in real life. The rules on here are the rules and that means no chiping ect on greens unless there is an obstruction in the way. If u want real rules go for a real game of golf. The rules are altered due to the ease on chiiping ect.

No one is arguing that you should be able to chip on the green in this game because you can in real life, though.

Not according to the rules. Putter must be used on the green unless your line is obstructed by fringe/rough/bunker, in which case use of a putter is not mandatory. Violations of this policy will result in event disqualification. Policing of this issue will be the responsibility of tour members. If you see a ghost ball chipping on the green and it is obvious that there is no obstruction between them and the pin, record a video and submit it to us at commish@tgctours.com (not on the forums!). The video must be from the perspective of the ghost ball - you can do this by selecting Watch Replay and pick the ghost ball that is chipping on the greens. TGC Tours will have the final say on all cases. He was referring to real life rules I believe. ^^^This^^^ TGC Tours is not "REAL" golf .... It is a Video 'Game'. And Hence, the argument starts all over ... Let's all get out our sticks and start whacking the horse again!

In real life, you can have at it.
In this game, the TGC High Command makes the rules.
To be fair, I didn't realize that was a rule until I saw a thread about it, so it's POSSIBLE that dude or dudette didn't know it wasn't legal.

I asked about the rules in real life because I didn't know and was interested to know the answer. Rest assured, next time I'll take me question elsewhere..

I asked about the rules in real life because I didn't know and was interested to know the answer. Rest assured, next time I'll take me question elsewhere.. in real life, its usually up to the clubhouse, some courses will kick you off if they catch you chipping on the greens. its like a bar with half decent billiards tables, such a small % of the population know how to properly execute a jump ball, and when amateurs try it out they often strike the table with their cue, so many bars with half decent tables ban the jump ball, they simply dont want some jackass f'ing up the felt.

If that was someone's defence though then thats not really a valid excuse. It is in the rules and it is the responsibility of the player to ensure they are familiar with the rules before they play in the tournaments
