Played my first tourney on the CC-D tour.. Had a blast.. I played all 4 rounds one right after the other.. My scores got worse each round.. Do you guys play the rounds all at once or do you spread them out between days ? What works best for you ? Do they have rules against practice between rounds ? I really should have stopped after round 2 and practiced on the course a few times before finishing but for some reason I did not feel right doing that.. Is it okay to do this ? I probably hit 8-10 shots OB during this tourney and that nuked my scores..

I feel the same way as you about practicing on the tournament course between rounds. I'm sure there's nothing against it, but it doesn't feel right. Also I thought I read something about glitches when that happens, but that may just be in my head. If I practice between tournament rounds it's usually on a different course altogether, or one of my GNCD "practice" courses (where I can take mulligans).
In terms of how I split my rounds, usually I do 2-3 on the first weekend, then finish it on Monday or Tuesday evening. However, since I've moved, I've found I put it back a bit to start on Monday or Tuesday and finish Wednesday or Thursday. I find I lose focus if I do more than two rounds in one sitting.

Generally I like to test out a course first - I always suck straight off the bat. This week was especially tough with 4 different setups as it's 4 times the work! Also, your practice rounds should be exactly that - try shots, work out what clubs you can and can't hit. Helps to play with a good ghost ball to see what they did. Hope that helps!

This week's course was especially important to practice, since there's a lot of tricky tee shots and places where you're tempted to take shortcuts... with potentially tragic effects!

Also, I've got into the habit of doing the tournament the first weekend - just to get it out the way. Always keen to get it finished!

I played all four rounds consecutively for the first time this week and it will probably be my last since the wind fix is coming. I had lower winds and wanted to keep playing but my score was my worst ever. In the past few weeks I just played 1 round a day and I will most likely do that again, or at least no more than two rounds in one sitting.

I played all four back to back this week for the first time ever, big mistake, especially as it's turn based and I was a bit under the weather. Last round I had zero concentration and make silly mistakes. Will I do it again? Most probs, especially as the wind fix is coming making every round different winds. Should I? Nope.

Are you guys saying that winds will vary for everyone each round in the future.. I thought the winds were set up the same for all players during each round to keep it fair.. Are they going to download real world/real time winds into the game or something ?

Are they going to download real world/real time winds into the game or something ? No the winds were not the same for everyone. About a month or so ago they had everyone at the same speed but not direction and there were some issues with ghost bals that caused a problem. HB turned off that wind system and everyone got different winds again like it had been for the majority of the game's life span. They fixed their issue so now for the next tournament everyone should have the same wind speed and direction.

Oh I see.. No wonder I cracked a drive as best I could and got outdrove 50 yards.. I was out of bounds.. I figured if the ghost balls could drive that far, so could I.. haha.. I guess not..

I definitely remember reading that if you are currently in a tour or tournament and try to play a practice on the same course, the game can get hosed up. The other thing you need to worry about is the glitch where if you finish a round in a TGC tournament and don't go to the next round and hit at least one shot, you run the risk of being put back to hole 18 of the prior round with a one inch putt. That is a known problem and could cost you a stroke. That's the rub, you have to keep going on the tournament to stop the glitch from happening. You don't have to play every round at once, but because of the glitch and the first issue I mention here, you can't practice the same course. Hope my rambling makes sense.

I try to practice a upcoming course at least a couple of times before a event. If possible, I also like to play the course with others before hand, just to get a different opinion of the course. As for a tournament itself, I like to play one round a day, then hit the first shot of the next round before I quit. I have when I felt I have been playing well, played another round but usually can never match the previous round. The important thing is to play the way you enjoy the most,be it four rounds in a row or one a day, there is no right and wrong, just have fun which ever way you play.

And since I shot a steaming pile of mastodon crap each time, I just figured I'd do what feels good.
