Well I understand that but the two courses do not play the same at all there’s been major changes in 2 and 4 and there’s 3 different holes added on to the circuit so it’s not the same course

Same reason we don't submit the Members' version or any alternate pin ones. If any scheduler wants the alternative versions, they'll ask us to submit it. The database is huge already, I think it's partly for that reason and partly to stop people padding their portfolios.

Sure, pretty simple actually, when one version of the course is approved to the database you hit that version and all other versions of that course plus other courses by that designer show up. Multiple versions of the same course is just not needed.

My latest course, The National was submitted over a week ago and I haven’t heard anything so did it get accepted or not. With the pandemic, it appears everybody and his monkey have decided to submit courses. There are well over thirty waiting to be reviewed, and a limited number of reviewers, who do have lives. Sorry for the delay but you will hear as soon as a decision is made.

I wanna know why my two courses, Grand Kootenay and Mahee Nilchi, didn’t get approved Notes from the reviewer: "Grand Kootenay - not approved. Very poor sculpting. On the second hole there is a steep hill with a bunker planted on it vertically...auto gen planting of rough." "Mahee Nilchi Golf Club - Not Approved . Sculpting issues with many of the bunkers, auto gen planting."

You brush in heavy rough just like any other texture - green, fairway, etc. The basic texture that is there by default is heavy rough, but what you brush or spline in will be a more uniform color and texture. If you want to have a chance to get courses approved at TGC you need to do some study of the various Designers forums and the You Tube and Twitch videos by Crazycanuck and B101 and others. It is a steep learning curve to figure it all out yourself.

I'm working on a fifth course called Solitude Ranch. I'm applying what I've learned from the last two courses and hopefully this one gets approved.

As long as you have the desire to get better, you will. Basically you need to delete everything autogenerated, besides trees, those are fine to leave if you wish. The best way to do fairways and greens is to use the spline tool to draw out the shape you want, then fill the spline and add a second surface of rough. This will give you a clean strip of rough around your surface. Definitely check out CrazyCanuck’s tutorials on YouTube. Honestly the skills he covers are essential to making courses for TGC Tours

Isolation Island GC (tour 2020) - Not Approved
Actually published as “Isolation Island GC (tour” looks like it hit the character limit.
I like the feel of it but the execution is off. There is an effort to sculpt the bunkers but they are very lumpy. There is planting on the fairway surfaces. 3 is a peculiar hole overall with intricate fairway and bunker work on a par 3. #2 tee box is sloped. Very poor slight line on #5 with very small landing area to all sides. Would not be able to reach fairway in strong headwind. Sculpting on fairways was good for the most part. Sculpting around water could have been smoother.
