Wata-lake GC feedback please It's a "nice" course. I'm a big fan of Swiss theme, which typically means a lot of elevation on the course. This one was very flat. There are a couple of technical things that may have held it back. 1. Bunkers - mainly stock shapes and not particularly well sculpted. - cut across multiple surfaces 2. Tee boxes. - Fairly low/level with fairways impedes the sightline (more on that below) 3. Greens. - Vastly different sizes. I understand that they vary, but it went from huge to very small. - transition from fairway. There is a trend of just rounding off the end of the fairway near the green. Try extending the green around the back of the green to make it seem more integrated. 3rd tee. unintentional blindness. You can't see the fairway (or any of the bunkers/hazards) from the tee box. 5th (par 5). Blind second where you can't see the water hazard. 8th tee shot, unintentional blindness from bushes 9th tee shot, unintentional blindness from sculpting 13th tee shot, unintentional blindness from sculpting 14th tee, floating tee marker 14th green, pin on yellow slope 17th tee shot, unintentional blindness from sculpting It also gives a better environment with more planting. There were a couple of trees around and bushes on the sides of a couple of fairways. Typically some more planting and elevation changes to give it a bit more feel. Hopefully that helps. I did manage to eagle the second, so that was good!

Hope that was your goal seeing how it's been 2.5 years since I posted anything, thought I'd see if I had gotten better or close.

October Sky review if someone has the time please OK, I played a few holes and think you should write out a sheet with several key items. 1. Is my first hole a divisive 90 degree bend (frowned upon by the purists and rarely used in real life) where I can hit a partial driver or shortcut the corner and hit it on the green? 2. Do my fairways transition seamlessly onto the green surrounds? 3. Are my next tee boxes a simple/short walk from the previous green 4. Does my tee shot have a good sightline of the hole without un-intentional blindness hiding any hazards? 5. Are my bunkers well sculpted and look authentic? 6. Are my greens; - using a speed set between the default green speeds to give schedulers maximum selection for green speeds? (answer: no, they are at 134/medium) - sculpted to ensure no creases and sharp angles? 7. Are my greens sculpted to ensure if faster green speed is used there is no yellow in the 9 boxes surrounding the pin? 8. Can I see my greens from the middle of the fairway? (un-intentional blindness) 9, Does my land movement look natural? 10. Have I checked all my tee boxes are flat? 11. Have I naturally incorporated additional features into the course to give it a more natural look? 12. Have I ensured that all auto-gen grasses have been removed near the fairway mown surface? 13. Have a used a mixture of different length holes, elevation changes and an interesting routing that provides sightlines of other holes? As my colleagues here have suggested, the art of "self reflection" and "self review" is an art form. So have a play of your course with these 13 things in mind and come back with your answers and let me know if it should be "not approved"/"approved"/"tour worthy"? Hopefully these pointers will help you on your journey to better courses. Best of luck!

Look, I get that sarcasm isn't what people were hoping for when they reached out for feedback, but about 99% of the things that get a course rejected are the same basic things over and over. To save time and effort, we've gone ahead and created tons of resources for designers, so they can know *exactly* what we're looking for and even have pictures and examples. When it's pretty evident you haven't taken the first steps to figure out where you went wrong or how to fix it, why should the reviewers spend even more of their time to retread the same thing for the 1000th time for someone who won't take the time to read, or even write a complete sentence?

Stuc Martin Thank you for your time. Not an official reviewer, but the updates you made on routing definitely helped. However, most likely it was rejected because they do not accept re-submits of courses previously rejected. This is to avoid people making small tweeks over and over and submitting over and over and flooding the submission queue. If you want feedback on a course prior to submitting it to the database, the Under Construction area of the forum is the place for that, where you can post pictures and invite people to play beta releases before you submit to the database. Keep at it!
