The GameSir G7 controller can be run at 500 and 1000hz and apparently Microsoft asked them to remove those rates from Xbox. GameSir haven’t done that you can change it on the app but it’s your choice, I run mine at 500hz in CoD Warzone. I might be wrong here but if the console communicates at 125Hz, wouldn’t that mean the controller is limited to that as well irregardless of what the controller is capable of? The higher polling rate ones are wired. So it bypasses the wireless communication limit on the console. With the stock controller even when it’s ‘wired’ in, it’s simply a charging cable. It speaks to the console wirelessly still. Unfortunately.

As Craig says the GameSir is wired so it’s not using the 125hz wireless, talking about swing plane I get the same with the wolverine poor swing plane but tempo is a lot better. I’ve not found swing plane that critical with the driver but do with the irons. As to the question of if the game works better with the 500 or 1000hz I’ve not seen a great difference in tempo but it has a similar issue with swing plane for me. The game must have been written specifically for the Xbox and the 125hz controllers because once you go above 250hz which the wired wolverine works at the putting becomes progressively more difficult especially on short 5 feet and in putts. You can pull the club back ok but you have literally got to push the stick forward forcefully to even get the putter head back to the ball, because of that if i do play the golf with my GameSir I run it at 250hz where the putting is the same as the wolverine. The thing with the GameSir G7 is its about a third the price of the wolverine.

I think GameSir have produced a wireless controller for the Xbox that uses its own dongle but I’m not totally sure about that.

The Razer Wolverine V3 Pro is wireless at 250hz over usb dongle which is much better than Bluetooth imo anyway. I think it's up to 500hz wired on Xbox and 1000hz on PC.

Quick question? I’ve struggled at pga 2k23 with tempo and swing plane. From day one Should I just give up on trying to improve and start all new on 2k25? Thinking about just uninstalling and calling it a day. The game has really has me at wits end trying to figure it out Did prepay for the new game and got early access Just hope it isn’t as impossible as 2k23 was.And hoping it will have a robust offline mode so I can just play career and forget about society play If your using an Xbox wireless controller your on a hiding to nothing with 2K23 that’s why I’m hoping they have relaxed the tempo a little on the new game. I know I could play in the beer league if I wanted with the more relaxed tempo but I prefer playing in the CC tours, the solution I have is as you get higher up the CC tours tempo goes from Pro am to Pro and on up the ratings until you reach the very top tours where in my opinion they should be using the very hardest difficulty level.

Way cheaper to buy a gamesir or a razer v2 (£50) if you’re otherwise happy with the Xbox. What is the Gamesir like? I have a Razer which has horrendous swing plane on the right stick. Its far better on the left stick but being right handed its tough to use. I use left stick on the golf I always have left stick left thumb I can’t use the right stick on Xbox because it’s to close to my thumb.

The thing with the GameSir G7 is its about a third the price of the wolverine. The G7 SE is half the price of the Wolverine V3 tournament edition which also has hall effect sticks, you can get a V2 (not Chroma) for not that much more than the Gamesir G7 SE if you shop around. I am not a fan of a cable hardwired to the controller so I sold it and got the Chroma version. I have gone back to my V2 Chroma as I prefer it to my G7 SE. I use it for a lot of games and the Dual Sense for games that really support that controller's awesome haptics and resistant triggers.

The easier swing difficulties are more forgiving on timing and swingplane.Hardly impossible if you play pro difficulty or below.

I just played the PC version and then Xbox and the putting on Xbox actually feels more like you are streaming the game. There is really a large delay in comparison, that must take some getting used to.

Much easier to hit straight but I do find the slower tempo required tougher. Tbh if you like the feel of the Xbox controller you will like the feel of the G7.

That must be down to the 60fps frame rate as PC generally run this game well over 100 from all accounts. I don’t think this game is to bad at 60fps on Xbox compared to is it quality mode at 30fps you get used to it.

I have the SE but my sticks feel pretty loose more than the wolverine I dare say if I was to calibrate the SE in game I could get decent results but I’ve got a good calibration at the minute on my Wolverine and I don’t want to loose what I’ve got.

Just ordered yesterday and I’m going to wait until 25 to use it. Taking a break until it launches. I have the same issues with the razer. Tempo great but I fight that swing plane and I’m definitely wayward on my bad days. I’ve always used left stick on stick but had to change to right on the razer because I couldn’t move my left thumb quickly enough to not get slows 😅 Craig about your issues with slows when I first got the wolverine I used it without calibration and I used to get slows/very slows on about 95% of my shots. How I worked round that is by pulling the aim marker back it moved my tempo left wards the further I pulled the marker back until it hit that centre white spot. I played that way for a couple of months and got myself up to Kinetic, of course in this game nothing works forever as the stick got worn in and looser my swing got a little faster so I ended up calibrating.

What's the general consensus then for controllers on PC ?? What's the preference ??
I have the Wolverine wired for my XB Series X and a very significant improved over the stock controller. Not tried the Gamesir but based on what I've read above perhaps this adds no benefit over the Wolverine except for price. Would I be correct ??
Cheers
