Welcome to the Best 3-Hole Stretch Design Competition! We know you're all just counting down the days until PGA 2K25 finally drops, so why not fill that gaping void in your soul by doing something constructive and fun. Whether it’s the thrilling opening trio that sets the tone for the round or the dramatic closing holes that seal the experience, we want to see your vision.

A few examples of the best stretches in golf 

- Holes 11-13 "Amen Corner" Augusta National
- Holes 15-17, TPC Sawgrass The Players Stadium Course
- Holes 9-11, Royal County Down
- Holes 11-13, Merion
- Holes 16-18, Carnoustie Golf Links (Championship Course)

Rules:
Three-Hole Format:

Participants must design a continuous three-hole stretch. These can be either the opening, middle or closing three holes of the course.
No restrictions on par configuration (e.g., par 3, par 5, par 4 or any combination of par 3s, 4s, and 5s).

Extra Points Criteria:

Clubhouse and Amenities: Bonus points for well-conceived off-course elements, including striking clubhouse, comfortable practice areas, or memorable touches that contribute to the golfing experience.

Start Date: September 19, 2024
End Date: November 19, 2024

So, do we just like build 3 holes, and in our post describe where they are in the course? or do we have to half-ass our way through 15 other holes as well?

"AF 3 Hole Challenge" is now published and is my entry into this contest. Full course to follow in the next few days at some point.

1st hole is a 456 yard par 4 where water can come into play on the drive and approach. If you can reach over the left fairway bunker, you have a better angle of attack. You can play it safe to the right side yet you have a more intimidating approach over water to a shallow green.

2nd hole is a 182 yard par 3 to a slightly elevated green gaurded by water and bunkers on 3 sides. This teeshot will test both your accuracy and distance control.

3rd hole is a 602 yard par 5, uphill to te green. It is reachable if the wind is any direction except in your face, however, it will require not only an accurate 2nd shot to a well-defended green, but also a risk taken with a well placed tee shot to the narrow left fairway protected by water on the left and center-line bunkers on the right. If you are laying up, a decision should be made to either go leftside fairway or rightside fairway depending on which side of the green the flag is on as it is split with a raised ridge down the depth of the middle.

Not sure if anyone was keeping track but I'm officially pulling my name from this. No chance I get back to finishing up my 3-holes in the next week

Might revisit it later though as a full course.

Hoven 3 Holes. My submission to the competition, the 3 holes are what will be the first 3 at the unfinished Hoven Golf Club which is set near Lofoten Links in Norway.
Hole 1 is a dogleg along the coast, with the more aggressive line near the water leaving a shorter second shot.
Hole 2 is a picturesque 170 yard par 3, with the green surrounded by the rocky dunes.
Hole 3 is a reachable par 5 back towards the clubhouse, with a centre line bunker forcing the decision of going for the riskier tee shot giving the shorter and easier second shot to the green, or leaving a longer second with a more difficult angle.
Feedback is more than welcome, especially as I'll hopefully be making it in to a full 18 hole course

My entry to the 3-hole stretch competition is Wyndridge Farm 11-13. The tough stretch goes par 3-4-3. Here's a picture of the long downhill 13th. Hoping to have the complete 18 holes published next month.
