Dear TST enthusiasts,
And now for something completely different... after two weeks on Hawaii we move to California! This week's course doesn't have the dramatic elevation changes and slopy greens like the previous ones but it is by no means a pushover: Pete Dye's Stadium Course at PGA West (La Quinta) is the IRL venue on the PGA Tour and where we play our California Classic. Distance control on your putts is required, as is accurate driving from the tee.
After this week, I'll create flights based on your performance in three completed tournaments - anyone completing his third tourney after this week will be added to the flights. We'll have a simple demo and promo marks system, which I'll explain next week.
As of this week, I'll also start sharing updates on the Road to the Tour Championship Money List, which decides starting positions/strokes for the Tour Championship.
Have fun and good luck,
Frans

-13 Round One. Which amazingly was probably the worst I could’ve scored. On fire tee to green but missed two six foot putts and on the first par 5 on the back nine I had the ball way below my feet on the fairway but was too scared to aim over the left water to allow for it, pushed it right and it took a trip down the cart path 😂
Really nice course and I’d imagine with the wind up on these settings 5/6 under would be a good score. Play well guys looking forward to the rest.

Shoutout to zzfr33b1rdzz for starting with a seven under on Xbox. Great shooting mate, that’s as good as I’ve seen you post on here and there’s definitely danger around that course 👍

Good job there's no cut that's all I can say. 4 over at half time!! This is why some of us don't need to played legend blindfolded to be challenged. This is enough of a challenge for crap pixel golfers like myself. Did I enjoy it? Yep

This is enough of a challenge for crap pixel golfers like myself. Did I enjoy it? Yep Tone is literally always lost on here so please don’t take this as arguing or anything. I reckon we know each other well enough to know I only *seem* like a lunatic on here 😂 But yeah, just a quick clarification on *my* whole push for legend. Which is probably different from the other guys who view this more as a sim whereas I don’t really on any settings but still prefer the same settings as them for enjoyment purposes. It’s basically because I’m a bit jealous of what you said. I hate the term ‘top players’ but you know what I mean, people who have kind of sussed pushing a stick back and forward essentially haha and I’m probably in that group. And I find it a massive shame there’s nowhere for me to experience that type of gameplay (being reasonably happy with four over) in a populated league or something. So my whole push for legend, and honestly no marker and preferably no vibration was to try and find a place for the top (again, you get me, it’s a daft game) players to really test themselves against difficult mechanics. Platinum does it with the courses. Absolutely no offence to anyone involved in designing picking or setting up those courses - they’re technically brilliant - but I find them silly. In my stupid head I was thinking the top guys hard settings real courses no assists would be a really fun way to play and watch and it might grow. It didn’t. No one wants to play that way. And it killed off all you guys enjoyment. I’ve tried to go a different route by tagging some of the pro tours players in my own society playing that way… Crickets 😂 No one enjoys it apart from like ten people and it was an awful idea! Anyway, please for the love of god let’s not pile in and derail another thread haha I just wanted to clarify that. I felt guilty as soon as I saw everyone drop off the minute it went to legend and I never wanted to do that at all. Anyway, -10 second round and CHECK OUT SIMULATION TOUR 😉😂

Is this the place to get it? Perhaps not. TGCT try to cater for mainstream people who want a game of pixel golf with leaderboards. But the game does give you Societies and you have your hardcore societies that you have set up for those that enjoy to play that way. As I've said previously, I didn't complain at the change to legend, I just decided it wasn't for me and slipped away. I'm back because I enjoy the courses here and the challenge, for me, is a suitable step up from my Regular Tour play. Each to their own mate, no one forces us to play the game, we do it for enjoyment.

I was just wanting to point out for all you guys that it was, for me, never about ruining your enjoyment or taking TST away from you guys. More so trying to give that same challenge to others also. But you’re right TGCT wasn’t the right place, tbh I don’t think there is a right place and there’s just no desire for that style of play. Back to business though and -47 for me this week. Beautiful course that. Without wanting to sound like a total arsehole I left about ten out there missing tiddlers and finding the water on that par 3 for a double in round 4 😬 I’m hoping I just had a crazy good week and I MIGHT still scare top ten even with those hiccups. Play well all.

Those are the best ones on here I think as well btw. I reckon I’m well short honestly. Bit of a Rory bottle-job special in the last round with those soft greens. If someone is bang on it and gets the most out of their rounds I’d say something on the minus 60’s will win this week.

Back in the basement with those that struggle to get 10 under over 4 rounds even on a great day, I'm simply pleased to finish up under par. Clean card for Round 4 which is probably a first. Learning to be a bit more savvy with the putting. I know I'll miss most putts over 5 foot so just trying to leave the next putt within 2 feet!!

I'm going to say nobody is getting anywhere near -60 this week and Craig's score is very close to the, if not THE, winning score...
It's a beautiful course but it also exposes my weaknesses... especially when there's no wind to speak of...
Round 1: -2 Round 2: -5 Round 3: -7

Enough of the humble bragging Craig -47 might just make the top 10, maybe you need to play blindfolded for more of a challenge Blindfolded always gets a nibble Although to be honest, with a flat screen, you may as well be Ok I'll nibble again , turn off the grids and you have the best interpretation of putting in any video game. A great challenge but not too hard also, I do admit I do see a lot more breaks with my LG C2 42 inch used as my computer monitor and HDR makes a big difference also. HB have really got the putting spot on in this game, the downhill mechanics are a little too aggressive for my liking but what a fantastic challenge no grids putting is. You have days where everything drops and others when nothing drops and you just can't smash those putts 6 or 7 foot past the hole if you don't want to risk that dreaded 3 putt from a makeable birdie putt. Putting has always been the best mechanic in all HB's golf games. Le's hope they don't ruin it in a future game.

I’ve listened to advice, watched video’s and I still find it pretty much a lottery. But I’m prepared to put up with that just to try something different. Legend just made the short game a lottery also and I wasn’t prepared to persevere with that so slipped away quietly.
