Dear TST enthusiasts,
Season 10 is here!!! It’s got all the signs of being a legendary season… 😎
So, as you know, we’ve moved to Legend this season. Tricky for some, exactly what they wanted for others. All we ask is that you give it a chance. Let’s focus on playing golf!
This first week, I’m taking you to the lovely Jefferson Country Club. I’ll need to figure out what conditions fit best with our new difficulty level, so I might get it wrong in these early stages of the season; if I do, just tell me and I’ll adjust.
FYI: we have no cut this season because Legend is more variable for most of us - we want you to have a chance to make up for early struggles with some good stuff later in the week. Leaderboards will likely be more volatile than they were before, which surely makes it more interesting. Mid-week deadline for first two rounds is still there though to keep things moving.
That’s it as far as changes go; as always we’ll play RCRs and I will try to get as close to the IRL PGA schedule as I can, without forcing you to play courses that don’t work in this game.
Give it all a chance and let’s enjoy the new season! Good luck and have fun!
Best wishes Frans

I've been absolutely buzzing for this for a couple of weeks now, playing fantastic in the legend true sim societies, full of confidence. Boiling the kettle this morning though and for the first time in about eight months being invested in the tours... I felt nervous?! 😬 nice to be back in the midst of it though I think you've picked a nice layout here Frans. Plenty of birdie opportunities with 5 par 5's but also plenty of water. Actually (pleasantly) surprised you picked a course with so much danger! And not the easiest greens. Unbelievably enough I genuinely was a bit nervous and snatchy this morning. I played well though, plenty of fairways and greens but those tiny pushes and pulls, or a slight slow or fast here and there meant I couldn't quite get tight with my irons and wedges. Couple of massive slows because I was scared of the water, and a missed four footer 😬 all in all exactly what I like TST to be! -5 for me round one propped up purely by the par 5's iirc. Really interested to see how everyone does and enjoys it. I'll be spreading my rounds across the week this season to try and make it more enjoyable. If one shot could sum up my morning it's this putt: www.xbox.com/play/media/FCT9XNXUYW lol Play well guys, and thanks again Frans for setting up another season on here 👍

Typically enough, I couldn't wait... Wont spoil my score in advance. Really nice first week Frans. I think the guys will surprise themselves around there and enjoy it Don't think there's a thread for Elite so I'll spill in here. -51 in there. I know scoring is low so think that'll be just short of a promo. Really enjoyed both though and looking forward to this season. Hole in one in Elite as well in the final round 🎉

Cool to see this course selected since it’s literally like 11 miles from me and I used to do pickups at a doctor’s office right down the road from it. It looks spectacular in this game too! Now if only I can ever actually get out to play it irl…maybe some day haha.

Maybe the “hometown” course was good luck. Opened with a -5 67…despite having just shot +25 (2 rounds) at Loch Lomond on Snake Pit Society…what a weird game hahahaha

Switch the machine on, log in, load the game and go play is what I have always done. Not bad Frans still be better than me even at Legend. Dave

Took a nice break after the first exhibition tournament. Kind of figured legend swing was coming. I was dreading the change but really enjoyed legend in my practice round. Tempo got away from me here and there and it was rightfully punishing. Managed to keep my cool and go with the flow for a -1. I birdied the first hole after my approach got within 3 ft. Got greedy on my two water shots, one of which bounced off the fairway tree on the one par five and right into the water. Only missed 8 putts which was a nice surprise after no true sim for nearly a month! Had 4 birds, 1 bogey, and 1 double bogey for a pretty straight forward round. Really liking the Legend swing.

E through 2 rounds. Went -1/+1/-1/+1/-1/+1/-1 through the first 7 then settled in a bit. Only had 1 bad hole on a back nine par 5. went v slow into the trees, then got back on the fairway only to v slow into the water. Sunk a 22 ft putt with a ton of break and 1 ft downhill to save bogey and the game didn't give me a replay. Missed 12 total putts (2 3putts) including 1 inside 5 . I'm still playing pretty aggressively trying to hunt pins and swing driver whenever possible but the wind has been tame through 2. I'll probably keep attacking until I have a terrible round then switch to safe play

R1 -1 R2 +1 R3 +4 R4 +4
Tot +8
R3 and R4 were not as kind to me...I couldn't stay out of the water and kept 3 putting. 2 double bogeys in round 3 and a +4/+1/+2 on 10-12 in the 4th rd tanked any chance at a breaking par this week. I did manage an eagle in the 4th round which was nice. I fought my timing a ton the last two rounds, likely due to fatigue going from 0 rounds in a month to 5 in a row. Gray swing plane in putting is much more punishing, missed a couple inside 5 but was fairly good otherwise this tourney. I'll definitely need to go back to playing safe near hazards until I dial in my timing on Legend. Really great course selection with lots of risk/reward decisions. Scoring is to be had if you are bold, but that water is ready to take it all away if you aren't dialed in.
Edit: Legend is a step up but not too drastic. It definitely adds spice and makes it less monotonous. Going to give it a month or so before I start fiddling with my clubs/fittings. Don't think I have the VC/mental energy to switch back and forth between 2 builds for here and CC.

True sim practice in the preseason clearly paying off. -3 and -6 in the opening rounds this week. Last season breaking par was my aim so delighted to be able to shoot nearly double digits over the first two rounds. My main struggle is still reading the greens. I think I am getting better but that's still my flaw at the moment.

E, -1, +1, E for E overall for me. Nice to have this Legend swing tour for an additional challenge and to have the to and fro of making birdies and bogeys rather than birdies being expected and bogeys being rare as on the main tours. My target next week is to break par and be under par for all four rounds if possible.

Round 4: +2 Total: -6
Played my first three Platinum rounds afterwards (on a course where IRL any self-respecting GreensKeeper would refuse to set any flagsticks on the greens and mark them as hazards instead) and currently sit on -34, which is on course for demo marks unless strange things happen. I enjoyed my TST round more and I’m grateful for designers that create RCRs.
As for my TST effort: this idiot needs to slow down and play less aggressive… 😎

Against my better judgement, but intrigued how it would go, seeing the Good Doctor's mbuenger excellent Jefferson on the schedule and wishing to support the hard work the Admin's put in I set out on the journey of legends. Hanging on for most of the time but reasonably happy at the undoubted missed cut with a pair of -1's. After not really playing much TST lately I'll take it. Two silly swim's, both easily avoidable, tarnished things a little. Was determined to slow my play down but failed. Edit. Just reread intro. Not cut so I’m into the latter stages. Neat 👍 EditOfEdit. One thing I didn’t do was 4 putt so that’s a bonus!

Hey all I'm sitting at 15 under halfway though just sitting behind a few big guns 🔫 on xbox , Thoroughly enjoying TST now Frans so glad your giving legend a go this season and by reading a few posts looks like a few are enjoying the set up , it's all about grabbing pars 2 putts Lagg putting which gives it that realistic feel . Course management plays a part too hitting 3 wood of the tee comes in to play and then deciding whether u want a lob wedge or a tricky pitch in . I must say that I'm enjoying the game more now than when it first came out . Enjoy the ride fellow golfers , keep at it and aim for par golf and a few will eventually drop for birdies . 👍
