Had a lot of real life stuff (normal just busy) to take care of before playing last night, so I only had time to barely make a character. My plan is to play more tonight when less busy and can stay up late.
First impression was that this is a pretty typical Bethesda game in gameplay, which like you alluded to Craig / Hendomedes is a good thing to me.
hammers1man if you have not tried Baulder's Gate 3, give it a shot. It is pretty awesome, and I'm very impressed with it. Anyone that likes D&D or old school roleplaying, or story driven games will love it. Others will/should appreciate the general quality of it.
I saved up in May for Starfield and Life By You, and when LbY got delayed till next year, I used my saved money for Baulders Gate instead, and have not been disappointed at all.
TimB I hope you start feeling better man, and can upgrade. I was actually running a 4570K and a 1070 GPU back in April and made the decision then to rebuild for these games coming out this month. Was a nightmare at first (that I think I detailed somewhere in a post) but its all working now, and hopefully will for another 10 or so yrs like the last one did! My brother has BG3 and has not stopped going on about it since it's release. Though not turn based I loved all of the Dragon Age games so I know I will love it Josia. I did play Larian's Divinity Original sin and liked it. Also I must be the only person on the planet that completed the Witcher 1 and 2 but never got round to properly starting the 3rd game. Completed Mass Effect 1 to 3 really liked them but I do find that cover based style combat a bit repetitive.

Yes I know, I have also got it running great with full Ray Tracing with DLSS 3 and frame gen but will have to wait till after Starfield. Just played a couple of hours of Starfield and enjoying the game. The graphics settings are all over the place. Been tinkering and framerates stay the same. Not a fan of FSR 2 as DLSS blows it away. And seriously no HDR option on PC, it looks ok with Windows auto HDR but an AAA game with no native support is criminal.

I hate games like this I have been trying to hold back playing after a big session last Sunday as I know what will happen. A quick hour session turns into 6 as I found out again today. Damn side quests I seem to be obsessed with them. But I managed to snag a new ship.and a new sh%$ hot spacesuit, helmet and rifle. Got the boost pack perk and just want to upgrade it more as that will be fun. Games like this are scary as they take away so much of your free time . Absolute loving it though 🤪

September/ October is my busy time in work so I'm just surviving right now but when that's out of the way I plan to spend all winter exploring the galaxy

Same here.
All weekend long I was thinking I need to play something other than Starfield. Yet it seemed most of my time I ended up going into it and spending several hours.
I told someone just the other day that Starfield and Baulders Gate were gonna be my two go to games to play this winter season.

Started building my first outpost tonight. just a really basic one on Earth. Seems like that could be a very addictive aspect of the game in its own right.
But I'm really engrossed in the main story so my plan is to focus exclusively on that then do all the side quests and other activities like base building, cargo lines etc etc.
No exaggeration this is becoming my favourite ever game

XBox has native HDR which actually looks worse than the Windows PC version which only has auto HDR for some strange reason. It can look really bad on an OLED at times. I fired up Jedi Survivor today and man that game just looks excellent and it's HDR implementation is fantastic. I think I am going to wait for the Starfield update which is going to have an FOV slider, HDR calibration and DLSS support 3 huge things missing on PC. Haven't played Jedi Survivor for a while and was presently surprised that it now has DLSS support though frame generation seems to not be working properly.

I'm about 12 hours in and trying to push through, a little disappointed with the space travel aspect, all of the fast travel just seems like excessive button pushing—I really want to fly and land my ship. Also, one of the early main storyline quests is broken for me, hopefully their recent patch fixes this. Anyway, I've heard that you need a little more time spent to get fully immersed so will stick with it, but have mixed feelings at the moment.

I've seen a few people flagging up those things actually. It looks nice to me but I'm far from educated on that stuff so take that with a pinch of salt really. I believe they announced that they are working on those three aspects for a future patch.

Yeah it's very much an RPG in space as opposed to a space simulator and I've seen a few people mention disappointment at not being able to land your ship etc. I don't know if you've played Elite Dangerous or No Man's Sky? Both different games to Starfield but scratch that particular itch a lot better.

Craig is spot on, this is not a space simulator, its an rpg in space. I don't think there is anywhere that you can land, and flying is rudimentary if true simulation is what you are after.
But just wanted to let you know, if you are doing excessive button pushing when fast traveling, you can bypass all that. Anywhere you might be, you can open your starmap, and you can pick whereever you want to go, then you can just press one button to go there.

I finally have Jedi Survivor running at a very respectable level framerate wise with frame generation, though I had to exchange the frame gen DLL to an older one to get rid of terrible ghosting when using it. The game is running fantastic now with DLSS 3 support, why we had to wait months after release is frustrating. The same with Starfield which does need good upscaling to run well so I am going to sit it out for a bit till we get that FOV slider and in game DLSS 3 support and hopefully proper native HDR implemented. It is just simple to fix technical issues that are annoying me and I did have a mission breaking bug that I had to load up an old save and replay it but that managed to fix it thankfully. Like Craig I am loving the game, as for the flight space sim aspect I didn't even know the game had space combat beforehand until it was pointed out to me on this thread.

Does anyone know or has found a store that sells a suit like below? I want to dress like my Fallout 4 guy. Don't really care for the so called suits I've seen in any store yet.

Wasn't me This is what happens when it's your 1'st time exploiting a glitch. If you go up to this puddle in Akila and are careful (it's finicky) you can see the entire contents of the Shepard's Store and steal it. I should have been more selective on what I took but I took it all. Including his 5000 credits. Was so encumbered I couldn't move 2 feet without running out of air. So I had to get rid of some junk. Sold some back to him too to make another 5 grand Still trying to work this other one in Stroud-Ecklund station where you walk through the wall and jump pack to a chest that has 160,000 in it. I can't for the life of me manage it. Minute I walk through the wall I clip back into the room. Just not quick enough on the jump pack
