New Project - Highlands Legacy Golf Course - 2K21

Welcome back!  Today marks the day I start my second course in the designer, my first course is out on 2K21 under Seven Bridges if you want to go play it.  If you would like to see the design thought process take at look at my Under Construction thread here: tgctours.proboards.com/thread/32600/bridges-released-7-18-23

For my next release the following parameters will apply:
1. Create a realistic overall length (7000-7300 total yards)
2. Focus on natural transitions, sculpting, and sightlines
3. Create a Highlands-like track, not necessarily a links course but something like that.
4. Incorporate a housing neighborhood and a resort-like feel to the plot.
5. Map out holes in advance to ensure a good mix of distances and shot selections.

I'll document my progress here so people can see my thought process when I design a hole/course and what I'm looking at. Hopefully I can inspire other designers to publish their own visions.   As I've mentioned before the design aspect of this game is really what I enjoy doing, and I do want to get much, much better at it.  Documenting my build in realtime helps me process my growth as a designer and shows me where I need to improve.  Feel free to give me any feedback.

Last night I started messing around with the yardages I wanted for this course, I wanted something more standard than my last design and something that was a little more target golf. I want to come up with a route that will punish a player for missing greens and fairways without using trees but something is is still fair to the player if they missed their landing zones.

I came up with a plan:

This is just a wireframe, but you take a closer look, I've created different yardages for each hole and mapped out my pin locations already to ensure the player doesn't see the same thing on any two holes.  This was important to me because I struggled with this exact thing on my last track.  I kept feeling like each shot was being repeated with the same yardages over and over again.  Here I want to avoid that happening.

Again this is just a wireframe, and I'm sure conditions on the plot will force me to make adjustments but at least I have a plan going in to the design.
