Nice to start under par but required some really good putting in the last 3rd of the round. Fantastic course loved it.

That F9 got me good in 2 of the rounds. Had a good R3 and R4 was tough on 192 greens (I got some green boosts on haha). You guys are hardcore - have a feeling I'm going to need a bit more practice!

I'll be honest I've been trying to draft a post apologising for the round 4 conditions. It got a little circus-y I think 😬 hopefully the other three were enjoyable at least! Lol

I finish up... look away now Neil if you don't want to know my score... -5 after the four. -8, E, -2, +5. Round Four conditions were maybe too much. I still think someone will shoot under par on them, but yeah, I'm sure most will hate that round.

And, again, thanks everyone for trying this out. Kind of a learning curve for me too trying to make par an achievement while also not going too far with the settings where it moves away from Sim and into cloud cuckoo land! I have eight events up currently and I'll go on at some point this week and dial some of them back having played the last round this week I think it's a bit OTT.
If anyone is still around come the end of the eight weeks that are currently up we can have a chat about how best to mould it to everyone's preferences. I would like to keep it tough but sensible. This might rely on picking particular designs and finding the right balance with conditions but I'm sure we'll get there.
Finally, being a genius I've set this up smack bang in my busiest time of the year for work with new enrolments at the college... Starting next week I'll make a point to devote some proper time to a preview and doing my rounds over four streams with (hopefully) some ghosts on the Xbox side if only to show how enjoyable the game this way on Twitch. Again, if anyone else streams please feel free to advertise in here as I'm sure we'd all enjoy checking out your rounds.
Cheers and good luck on Sunday this week 👀 for the love of god, lagg putt! 😂

It will also give you an opportunity to see how a lesser skilled player than you fairs at the set ups 😉

Green speed boosts, is the putting too easy for you Doyley. I did the same thing, I think I played the game for a couple of months with faster greens. As if no grid putting isn't difficult enough 🤣

I think it’s the green speeds which determine whether a set up goes OTT.Firm ground conditions with very high winds are perfectly playable if combined with sensible green speeds. You have to remember this iteration of the game was designed to be played with those silly consumable balls.I don’t mind 155 greens in calmer conditions but feel like 134 should be the limit in windy conditions.A links course for instance would never be set up with fast greens IRL because of the expectation of higher winds.

Yeah agreed. I think if I'm going for that really burnt out windy summer links feel 155's at a push... First four holes I thought I'd got away with it then yeah a chip just kept rolling off the green, chipped it back up seven feet past and got the dreaded endless 40 yard trickle when I missed the putt 😬 I think it was the fifth hole. The dogleg left. After the first round my driving totally deserted me too. Kept pulling everything and it hard to make a score hitting long irons into those bumpy greens coming in hot over bumpy fairways. That's on my thumb though haha Would be a great course for the tours this I think. Some really nice pins positions that if you go after them and are a few yards out short side you're up against it. Keen to see what the best score is. I reckon I'm five short. If I recall correctly Merion is up next and I have 186's in there too but I'll do a really quick practice around it with the pins for that day and see if it's playable. I still think someone might break par round 4 (not that it makes the conditions sensible lol) save me horusphoenix you're my only hope! 🙃

Great stuff.
I'll get involved in a bit of this as time allows.
Cheers.

I was told this by a designer a while back, I feel the ball seems to rollout more on firmer conditions when putting. Also when you're chipping off fairway you're not getting that bite. Personally I would use firm as the max setting for greens, that way you can up the speed a little more on certain courses. Drop the firmness to moderate and 186 become even more playable. Like colly said links greens speeds can't be too fast as with those links firmness and high winds balls will start being blown off the putting surface. 155 max speed for links courses feels more realistic to me. It's all a learning curve and you're doing a great job Craig, though I'll probably be cursing your name in round 4 😂 Also the greens on Merion are very tricky even on 155. Maybe tone them down from 186 or it will be pitch forks out 😉

As you mentioned earlier about waiting a little while and streaming and perhaps adding a couple of ghosts , That would be great viewing . Couple of evenings a week prime time viewing and get to see the scoring and how it develops on the leaderboard. Trouble is you tend to go in and bash all 4 rds out in one go . 🤣🤣🤣 Is it a ploy to put some kind of pressure on a certain person , ha ha . Would be good to watch the golnor way once again from a professional streamer .

LOL nah honestly it's just me having gotten into a bad habit of rushing my rounds and trying to stream when the house is empty (so I'm not told to shut up haha) and I'm not shattered from work. I'll make a real effort next week but... We'll let you take the reins this week!

Just played R1 Kinsley M. Felt like a step-up from TAN.... which I didn't think was really possible! Course not set up quite so kindly perhaps or maybe I just wasn't playing so well. Certainly playable and really enjoyed it though.
Excellent work.
