Out of curiosity in the future, is one allowed to edit an already published course (not used in contests) and get it "Major" ready? No.

Regards There are multiple design competitions each year, most are open to anyone who wants to enter. tgctours.proboards.com/board/40/tgc-tours-design-contests is where you will find them.

So, due to the fact that crashing issues are yet to be resolved, and a number of people have asked about extending the deadline, I'm going to officially extend the deadline to Nov. 30th. So if you're struggling to make it to the deadline, you now have an extra month.

Apologies if this has already been asked -- are grandstands and crowds required or preferred for course submissions? I don't tend to like them but can add if needed.

"Courses will be judged on overall quality of the design, its appropriateness for tournament play, and the atmosphere of a major. What all of this means is up to you to interpret, and at the end of it all..."
So no, not required...

Thank you! The "atmosphere" portion makes me think having crowds and grandstands might be something of the idea. I might publish a non-grandstand version and one with grandstands for the submission.

Imagine the Waste Management 16th without stands, just a bunch of people standing around…

Hi, didn't really want to make a new thread for this, but I have to withdraw from the contest.
Had my 1st crash a few days ago and today the file corrupted and unfortunately didn't make a backup file. Sucks a lot. No way to whip up a new course in a month. As a "newer" designer I was really looking forward to the feedback and critique.
Thank you Matt for hosting the contest. Good luck to all that are able to submit and have already. Some great courses so far.

So no, not required... They're not technically required....but they really are if you want any shot at contending. It's kind of a massive part of the assignment. Pretty surprised to see courses published without them....me thinks their contest lifespan will be short.

As far as feedback goes, just shout if/when you publish your next course and I'm happy to give it the full feedback treatment.
