Dear TST enthusiasts, It's (US) American Open week! We're playing our major at the IRL venue: Los Angeles CC - North. This course is, well, not easy, and, errr, not short... I've tried to set it up in a way that it's still playable for all, but don't expect anyone to get to -50 this week... Have fun and good luck!!! Frans

With a busy week ahead of me I rushed through all my rounds first thing this morning.
You are correct, Frans, that it isn't easy or short. A couple of god-like up and downs that I thought were for birdie were merely par savers, but it is supposed to be the US Open. Having played this course an awful lot in the past couple of weeks I will not be sad to see the back of it for a while, no jibe intended at a very decent recreation, just that I have seen too much of it. Happy to get home under par for the four rounds. It will probably see me in the lower half of the middle flight hoping that everybody finishes their rounds and don't gift me a red mark.

I should not be this high... -7 round 1. I was -3 through 2 holes for unreal pace. No surprise, I could not keep that up all the way so have to settle for a worse score! And a trend is showing up here... -5 front, -2 back. It gets worse. Round 2 -5. Nice little eagle on hole 8 from about 25 feet away. -6 front... and here's the kicker! 100% FIR, 100% GIR in the back 9, +1 because I hit none of the first putts and had a 3 on 15! How can I be so competent and incompetent at the same time?! But -12 at the half, neat to be higher up on a tough event at this time. In a bit of ironic twist, that insane long par 3 of the 7th of near 300 yards? I'm -2 on that so far. That incredibly short (course standard wise) par 3 of 15th though? +1. Make it make sense! Cheers, good luck!

No meyo and ericvanderek is shunning me, so, no reason to live. Finishing 3 Over Par, for the Tournament, doesn't help matters. If you don't play, you lose. It's a bad rule but I didn't create it. Sorry meyo Chin Up. Chin Up!

I've played this course a lot recently and know how brutal this could have been set up so... thanks? I've really been enjoying TST lately and think I shot my best round ever with a 10 under final round! Might have a shot at winning my flight this week at -21. It's going to be fun seeing how the pros handle the course this week. Pretty unique venue for a US Open.

Finished -21 after a lot of bogeys… every time I advanced, threw it away again.

Finished at -16 after adding up a E and -4 at the weekend. Curse of the week for me in round 3s, that's let me down twice but both times I came back with a solid round again. Round 3 was just shooting the ball anywhere and everywhere, awful stats and lucky to walk out at even par some might say. Sniffed out a 32.6 foot damn near straight putt for probably the best putt I got this week. Round 4 outside of a double bogey on hole 5 like it also was in round 3 was not too bad. Found all the fairways so second shots might have let me down a bit, but saved well and putted pretty well on top of that. Not much to chase this week on the PC side of the leaderboard except to be the first guy behind the 1-2 punch at the top of the board! Add on top another major top 25 finish to go 3 for 3 on those so far this season and all's good in my world. Cheers, good luck!

Had to catch up on some things over the last couple of weeks since I'm feeling mostly better. I couldn't pass up the American Open! Especially at LACC one of my favorite spots. I hadn't played the course since last year but I was still semi-familiar with it.
Round one was pretty typical though that was surprising since I had not played the game since the PGA Championship. I did practice and play a practice round. While I couldn't take advantage of the easy holes, I was fine with the toughest holes though 11 and 17 got me, made a great approach and birdied 18. 69 (-1) 33 putts though.
Round two I did capitalize on the easy holes with my first of 3 birdies each on the 1st and 6th hole this week along with the 8th. Both 290 yard par 3's got me and so did 18. 69 (-1) Better putting.
The Saturday round I went on the LACC roller coaster with 7 birdies and 5 bogeys taking advantage of easy holes and then screwing up on medium difficult holes. 68 (-2)
Sunday was more like Saturday 6 birds 4 boogies and a 68 (-2). An excellent course and great conditions by our scheduler. I was middle of the pack this week in driving with 77% and 65% on the greens, putting I did a little better. Had a lot of fun this week.
Enjoy the US Open!
