Round 1 - 79
Believe it or not, I was around par going into 16. Then I had the most unlucky bounce and ended up in the water. Same on 18 and ended up 7 over. This will, without a doubt, clinch my 5th strike, put me back in Q-School and finish competitive plat for me. I'd like to say it was fun, but it wasn't. Thank God this will be over with and I can get to being a ranger when I can.

Obviously still early, but with the cut being based on percentage instead of a specific number of people things don’t change substantially as more people post scores. With that in mind, your +7 actually has you just inside the cut line with the first 24 scores posted. Somehow or another you are still very much in this without needing an amazing round 2.

Round 2 - 77
One of the most amazing and frustrating rounds of golf I've ever played. Holes 16 and 18 that I double and triple bogied in round 1, I made par on both those holes this round. 18 I even laid up with a pitch out of the sand because I knew I couldn't clear the water. Played so smart. I had approach shots that landed 3 and 4 feet from the pin. My drives were mostly straight. Didn't matter. Managed to somehow find the water on about 3 or 4 holes. Ended up 5 over in spite of a few birdies.
Anyway, this should clinch my demotion back to Q-School. From there I can concentrate on being a ranger and be done with the tour.

I’d wait until second round scores get posted before you get too excited about missing the cut. You’re still inside the current cut line with your +7 first round score. If the second round ends up scoring similar to the first round for the field, you still have a shot at comfortably making the cut.

Round 3 - 81
I figured if there was a chance I could make the cut, I didn't want to scramble last minute to finish my rounds. I actually came within 6 inches of an ace today. You know what's sad? I am so much better at this game than when I first started (especially my driving) but the courses are so miserable they're just not fun to play. When you put the ball in the middle of the fairway and end up in the water, something is very wrong.
Question: Is it possible to make the cut but finish so low that I still get a demotion mark? If I do I'll have 5 and that will put me back in Q-School, right?

If you make the cut you automatically lose one demotion mark, if you have any and can not gain one back no matter how horrible you play in the last two rounds. Wasn’t really sure how much I felt like playing this week, but I went ahead and started my rounds. Was sitting +3 after nine holes but brought it back to even par on the back nine. Was still mixing fasts, slows, and perfects off the tee with none really standing out as dominant. As a result I had one of those weird rounds where my GIR% was higher than my FIR%.

Right now I am below the cut line. Thank God.

Still 11 people under the cut line that haven’t played round 2. That’s enough to make a difference if they have a bad second round or don’t bother playing it. If I had to make a guess now I’d say you’ll miss the cut but may still finish high enough to get your fifth strike. It’ll be close on way or the other.

Round 4 - 79
Only fitting that I finish my tour play with my most hated course ever.

-4 in the second round. It wasn’t pretty but I avoided doing anything too stupid. It’s enough to comfortably make the cut at least.

I can't believe this. I am right under the cut line by 1 stroke with about 4 people who have a good chance of falling below me. This is going right down to the wire,

I can't believe this. I am right under the cut line by 1 stroke with about 4 people who have a good chance of falling below me. This is going right down to the wire, Currently top 45 plus ties make the cut and you’re in 46th. With how many people above you still haven’t finished you only need one of those people to finish below or not play their second round at all and you’re above the cut line. I doubt anyone that’s +12 or higher with only one round posted is going to be very likely to shoot under par in round 2 and move ahead of you. And any new entrants that haven’t played either round yet are unlikely to skew the percentages much from where they currently are. At this point I’d think you’re more likely to make the cut than miss the cut and even if you do miss I don’t think there’s any chance you get a demotion strike. How depressing would that be if the first cut you make is with a score of +12?

Another stinker round after making a cut. +7 in round 3. If I played a shot expecting fast it would go slow. If I set up a shot for slow it would go fast. No consistency at all this round. Found ways to miss 5 foot putts. If something could go wrong it did in this round.

Amazing. I made the cut on one of the worst courses I've ever played. That is just sad.
