Round 2 - 77 Thank God this week is over for me. That’s not the advice I gave you. Hey, I played the best I could. Nothing went right for me that round. I had one tee shot that hit the middle of the fairway, bounced left and ended up in the heavy rough anyway. I have never seen such miserable rolling fairways in my life.

It’s such a weird course in that it looks like it should be really easy but it manages to find ways to make things way more difficult than they should be. My -3 currently has me sitting just within the cut line in CC-K. I think I’ll make it but it’s far from certain at the moment.

I was +3 very early with nothing going right for me. Then the breaks started going my way a bit more and I cleaned my game up to end at -2. I’m sitting on consecutive weeks of finishing last amongst those that made the cut so it’s obvious I’m going through some issues with my game at the moment, at least in rounds 3 and 4.

Round 2 - 84
I've made a decision and this is a no brainer for me. After I am kicked out of CC and back in Q-School, I m quitting the tour. I've never hated playing any video game so much in my life as I hate this one. I'll continue to ranger because I made a commitment. Besides, it doesn't matter what I shoot doing that. I'm just testing a course. But that's it. I'm done with competitive play once I'm back in Q-School.

Weird second round. Was -4 after 6 holes. Back to even after 10 and finished -3.
I’d been debating myself if I was still really feeling it in this game or not and if I wanted to keep playing. Since I only started in the Tours again to give you someone to try and move up the ranks with, you planning to quit may be a sign that I should do it too.

After one round it looked like I’d be tight against the cut, but with two rounds posted it looks like I’ll make it comfortably. Round 3 I came close to my first hole-in-one in this game. Hit the bottom of the flag stick while still in the air and landed inches from the hole. Finished with a -6 and a -7 so my string of bad 3rd and 4th rounds ended and my run of finishes in last out of those that made the cut should also be over.

You keep shooting like this and you might want to think twice about quitting. I'll still play as long as I'm in CC. But as soon as I end up in Q-School I'm done. I won't go through having to qualify again.

The score isn’t really my problem. It’s that I don’t really think this is a good game. I’ve always thought, since TGC days that it’s an extremely shallow game that wouldn’t be worth playing without TGCT. But this one has proven to be more frustrating than fun. I scored -6 and -7 but there was nothing even remotely consistent that happened in either round. One tee shot was fast, the next was slow. One fast tee shot would go mostly straight, one would go hard left and keep going left, one even went hard right for some reason. Approach shots were the same. I’m left just kind of aiming for an area on the green based off of how I’ve been hitting the ball recently and hoping it ends up somewhere near the hole. It rarely ever did. I know a lot of people didn’t always enjoy the almost robotic nature of hitting in TGC but I enjoyed being able to plan your shots and as long as you execute it well you knew where you were going to end up. This one still far too often feels random to me and more like I’m fighting the game mechanics than my own incompetence.

But the bigger problem is the tricked up courses. I know this because if I play an easy course, in spite of the "glitches" I can shoot well. Even under par. But tour courses are all the same. Tucked pins, rolling fairways, long par 4s, par 5s where you have to lay up because a 3 wood won't carry far enough to avoid the hazard, and on and on and on. It's like if they can do something to make a hole difficult, they do it. I'm sick of it. When I hit the ball dead straight with perfect tempo and it lands in the middle of the fairway but still bounces left and into the heavy rough because the fairways are so damn narrow and rolling, that's when I'm done having to be dead perfect just to shoot par. That's MY problem with this game and not the game itself. In fact, I think the mechanics are quite good. I'm hitting the ball 100 times better than when I first started but have very little to show for it when the course is stupidly hard, especially for CC. How these people shoot 15 under par for one round boggles my mind.

Sitting in a tie for 9th place now. Too bad my first two rounds weren’t as good as my last two.

Otherwise you need three promotion marks to get bumped up. Not sure of the exact percentage of the field for each of these but the first few highest finishers get two promo marks and another few behind them get 1. Currently 10th place and projected to get one promotion mark.

Round 1 - 72
Something strange happened this round. I actually enjoyed playing. I was disappointed with my putting (it really let me down) but I can't blame the game or the course. I missed 5 and 6 foot putts that I just shouldn't miss at this stage. Otherwise. my drives off the tee were excellent. Approach shots were decent if not great. I made a few errors in those areas but not too many. Had I putted better, I would have easily broken par. This is not a terribly difficult course though some of the greens are tricky.
Tomorrow I'll play round 2. I don't expect to make the cut but this was a fun round. I always felt like I had a chance if I played my normal game.

I was +5 for round one. The kind of round I didn’t enjoy at all. I’ll agree there was some challenge on the greens, which was fine. Problem was it was one of those rounds where I had no consistency off the tee. Fasts, slows, perfects all popped up regularly. Some went mostly straight, some hard left, some hard right, most right into the rough or a bunker. Just 18 holes of everything I don’t enjoy about this game making an appearance.
