As if the default ball wasn’t bad enough (I’m for the default over consumable balls but the default ball is terrible), hitting out of green side bunkers Is sometimes impossible. Any tips or you just have to hit an impossible perfect shot? I’m not even that bad at this game (CC-A) but this game is broken…

I’m not even that bad at this game (CC-A) but this game is broken… I am not good, but I rarely duff any more (certainly don't land it within 3 feet of the hole every time). I found getting my swing percentage and then moving the marker to 100% has helped me quite a bit. In one way, I sort of like it. Sand really worries me (I know that is not realistic as pros think the sand is easy) with sand and water being the only two things I double actively avoid.

I'm practicing on splash shots as I type this. Give me a splash shot at range (25-30 yds) and I can hit it within a few yards about 80% of the time. At medium yardage (20-25), maybe 60%. By bugbear is the short-side bunker shot. Those at about 15 yards or shorter are killing me. These are the ones I put in a half hour a day on, and I'm still not there.

Totally agree, those are very hard. I usually end up putting back a considerable distance.

Try practicing with the pitch shot (with or without various loft combos) out of the bunkers. I've found that even on bad slow swing results, I'm still able to get the ball out of the bunker, even if it only gets to the fringe. The lack of swing length required to hit the ball a short distance doesn't feel natural, but it i what it is. Overall, I find it less frustrating than the splash or flop shot.

Someone else suggested trying the flop shot instead of splash. Maybe I’ll practice around with different types of shots and see if that helps. Thanks!

The really short ones like 15 yards or shorter are the ones that are killing me. If I’m taking a full swing, I’m 80-90% going to have good tempo but the ones where I have to take a half swing or quarter swing, I’ve duffed it like 4-5 times in a row before rage quitting.

They've done something with the partial splash shots recently. I'm actually finding it easier to hit them, minor grey fasts or slows don't duff it anymore. I usually add spin to them unless I have a lot of green to work with because they do roll out a lot more.

I had a bit of problem this morning on these short bunker shots, but I think I have hit on something that works for me. I move the targeting arrow as close to me as possible. Then I move the loft all the way to the bottom. This really slows down the avatar animation, which, for me allows me to set the right amount of back swing (and lets the ball check up). Try it in the practice bunkers first though.

It's just bad application of this shot by the devs. It's very much a pet peeve of mine right now.
A bunker shot should not be the most difficult thing to execute for an assumed professional golfer, which is what we are supposed to be in this game.
