It is remarkable how a slight drop in framerate (from 144 fps to about 130-135) affects my tempo so much in this game. I had this issue from the very beginning and solved it initially by turning down my graphics settings (I'm on PC), but it has gotten worse with the 1.05 patch.

I shot -41 in the Q-Event on a course with no trees. Then I missed the cut with -9 on Elite a day after the 1.05 patch came out. My tempo was horrible, with considerable dispersions (grey, close to dark grey, both fasts and slows) and barely any perfects. So I lowered my graphics settings again (mostly object detail), and it looked like I was good to go. However, on holes with heavier planting (and this week's Elite course has a nice mix of holes suitable for troubleshooting), I still have a few issues.

Thankfully, the promo event is almost treeless again. My tempo was on point, and I'm hoping that my -57 gets me promoted to Plat. Either way I'm obviously very happy with the result, but having to rely on treeless courses to be competitive is slightly, well... I don't know. 

TLDR: If you're on PC and having remarkable tempo issues, you might want to consider lowering your graphics settings, even if the game appears fluid.

Thanks for this. I don’t think I would’ve put two and two together. I went back and played MyCareer and kept hitting very fast and very slow and realized the course had a ton of trees. Game seemed to be running fine and I have a pretty beastly PC but remembered this comment and lowered my settings and started hitting perfects again or just barely off

Think about finishing the last round, Doley said this promo event would lead to a lot movement. No penalty for a terrible score but you might just get a surprise.

Bugger. I should maybe just stay away from the Promo events altogether and not get ahead of myself. I completely screwed myself in the final one of last season when I was in CC-C, hoping to get a leg up to CC-B, but somehow got a rocket boost all the way to Elite. And I was nowhere near equipped to swim with the sharks there.

If I do go up this time, here's hoping it's only to F!

currently in kinetic tour, made every cut so far but never in contention for promo marks due to consistency problems normally have poor rd3 and 4.. I thought id give promo event a go and to my surprise finished -51 (57,58,59 and 59). Might get me promoted but cannot help but feel I will be out of my depth and now struggle to make cuts in elite LOL

Ever since I played the last round of the promo event, I've been playing disastrously. And it keeps getting worse. All 5 rounds results above par. +5 + 6 And so on. I don't know if something happened with the settings, or if my hands stopped working properly. I'm afraid to pick up the controller

Congrats and well played! Depending on the number of spots, -51 could even be in Plat territory.

-7, -11, -10, -8 = -36. First round threw all expectations out, being -7 thru 9 in round 2 gave them back. Then just... eh, decent but not enough for much.

Played for fun, pretty much. These promo events have become practice for me, I'm just good enough to be in the pros and not a whole lot of interest to move up right now. It's a good 4 rounds to fine tune things in competitive setting, without all that much pressure being added in once you're out of the running. I think I'm getting closer to the top event by event however, so maybe in like... 3 years I might get there.

Shot a -38, very pleased considering my form has been off and on throughout this game cycle. I don't expect to get promoted to the pro leagues based on this result, but if I play a couple rounds of the CC this morning and later find out I am in a pro league would that be a hit against me. Sunday morning is just a good time for me to play.
