Well, I'm getting worse. Haven't shot double digits under par all week. I'm at a loss. Calibrated over and over again. Absolute random sh%$ show from one side of the tempo meter to the other. I'm 90% or better swing timing across the board on all my red cards too. I've changed graphics settings and all sorts on my ps5. I think my character is bugged as well. I swing looking at my golfer's swing not the controller. My golfer has a glitch where he morphs into a new position at address to the ball. So he'll be set up for the shot, I'll take a practice swing (usually perfect lol) and then just before I hit the real shot his @!$#ing head moves like he's standing up. I've got the worst tempo dispersion of all time. Tried 2 controllers. If I reinstall the game do I have to pay to fit all these cards again? I've got 700 coins and I'm not buying any or grinding any. I've fallen off a cliff here. Delete gets closer by the day. Yes, you have to pay to have everything re-fitted. It may be worth trying the 10 slow and 10 fast calibration technique, you have nothing to lose.

I have always used my left thumb on the left joystick of my controller using the bottom part. No other way feels comfortable to me even though I have tried other methods many times.

Knowing this, the move to a DualSense could be more challenging for you (since the left stick is significantly moved vs the XBOX controller).

I use one thumb on right stick. However, I tilt the controller to the right (like driving and the road is curving to the right so about 30° tilt from straight up and down). This feels more comfortable for my hand and my thumb. Theoretically I'm swinging diagonal, bottom left to top right, but because the controller is tilted with me, it's actually straight up and down.

I initially played 2k21 with my right thumb stick for a bit, but felt way better with left thumb stick shortly after. Tried switching around a couple times here and there but in 2k23 I’m gonna stick with it on the left stick. I just have to remind myself, oddly similar to my irl swing…backswing slightly into the left, downswing straight back up or slightly back up right. Swing is dead if I deviate at all from that. Although I naturally want to go down right and back up left, but it’s harder to be consistent with it.
As a whole I think it does a good job challenging how your mind and body perceive it, very similar to an irl swing imo.

PC/PS5 Controller Been using right thumb/right stick since TGC 1 and have a very good swing plane but my tempo can be pretty inconsistent at times, but that's more mental than anything. The pad of my thumb is centered on the top of the joystick, and I like to do a couple pull-backs as "practice swings" and use the golfer's animation to get a feel for the tempo. I never use the actual practice swing because I usually lose the feel for the swing in the time it takes to get from the practice swing back to the normal shot. For some reason it seems to take forever and clicking down on R3 throws everything off (for me).
My recommendation would be to try and find the most comfortable grip and just use that instead of frequently changing it up so you can gain the muscle memory for that grip/swing. It's also worth noting that tempo is much more consistent if your controller is wired rather than wireless.

I use left thumb only with a contact point on the lower half of the stick, not had any issues swinging reasonably straight. Done this since the TW games in 05 onwards so maybe just 15+ years of practice helps?! Same. Just always have with no slipping issues
