Congrats to the US on making it through. Play that high tempo high press against Holland and you have a serious chance. They are not as good as Dutch teams of the past.

Some great finishes to the group stages best i can ever remember i think anybody over the age of 50 will think watching this Brazil side is nothing like watching them 20-30 years ago they play like a Top Tier European team. Anyone but Spain. They are THE most boring team I have ever watched. 80% possession and 6 shots at goal. They've been like this for a while now.
Thought the US and AUS both put up a good fight today, particularly AUS. The US could do with a more streetwise coach and they desperately need to find a number 9. Good young team though, and unlike the rest of us haven't got to run the gauntlet of qualifying for the next one!
I'm a little nervous of Senegal tomorrow....

Might be because i loved 80s football nothing better than seeing the Aussie Centre Half playing centre forward the last 10 mins they always seem to cause chaos and make a chance to score.

The sad truth of it is we didn't play high tempo like we did in the group stage. It cost us and in my opinion, we lacked basic defense 101 on all 3 goals 1st goal.... Adams lost track of Memphis at midfield and thus fails to run back with him and by the time he realizes what is happening he is 10 yards behind him. Adams is/was the engine.... work horse of our midfield! And he did not show any of that in this match! 2nd goal... Dest is caught ball watching and flat footed with his hands on his hips when Blind makes his run to the spot! For crying out loud! Basic Defense! 3rd goal... Robinson is sucked into the spot, marking a man that Ream already has and he never looks once over his shoulder, all while Turner is pointing and yelling about the back post! I was yelling at the TV, where is our energy? Where is our defense! What are we doing! To me, Defense 101 or the lack there of! now..... Let's go ENGLAND! |

Only thing i would be worried about on Mbappe in the future if he ever loses some of his pace or gets hamstring injuries, Michael Owen was never the same after those amazing 2-3 years when he was in is prime with his pace.

Wow Croatia..well played. Am i alone in thinking Neymar is overrated??? Sure he scored a great goal but he doesn't affect games like messi or ronaldo or mbappe. Like yeltz said wide open.
