Imo the problem wasn't the different balls, it was the roll attribute. That's what should have been patched. Don't forget the silly bounce attribute. Yeah, they've taken what could be an interesting feature and implemented it terribly. Perhaps grading the balls by weight and then by dimple pattern with less drastic attribute shifts would have been better and slightly more grounded in reality. Not as cool as having an overpowered Aviator ball though.

Sure, but with these mechanics do you need very fast greens? I feel the greens play well with medium or medium fast greens (with default balls). In 2k21 you'd need to ramp up the speeds to create challenge as the short game was too easy. In this game the short game mechanics are well suited to slower green speeds which play more naturally and still retain challenge. I agree. The greens are faster in this game than 2K21with default balls, Some courses will play well with 170 but others maybe 155 tops. Over 170 is not needed. Very Fast greens are going to be completely non existent now except maybe a handful of courses that have flat greens. Firm Fast with default ball feels like very firm, very fast on 2k21.

The game is fun and I'm enjoying the challenge but the default ball which I use regularly does not roll right ( and I dont mean in the hole every shot, in fact hardly ever). They wont alter it but wish they would, just slightly would do.
Never used a legendary and never intended to but just knock that roll down a bit. Feels a different game even with a green friction.

Does it automatically equip the default ball in society if you have a consumable one equipped or do you have to change it manually? I like it from a level playing field aspect, but I will maintain my view that it's not very realistic having the entire field forced into using exactly the same ball. Unfortunately since they (2k/HB) seem uninterested in the realistic option of all balls rolling the same and bouncing more or less the same as well, it's the only solution at this point. Yeah, honestly, just being able to use the common sleeve choices would have maybe worked, as the stats don't change THAT much off of the default, and I don't think those would really skew the score discrepancies and would add a touch of extra strategizing. But I don't even know if that is possible, but it would feel a little more realistic while having very little effect on the scoring. Who knows though. That would still create controversy 😂 What they should have done from the beginning is make the balls have varying spin and flight characteristics and nothing else. Real balls are like that, but you don't play a TP5 vs a Supersoft and have one roll out ten feet further than the other on the same strength putt. Fittings of themselves aren't arcadey either, but the way some of them affect swing path is. There's no such thing as a grip or club head that helps you swing on plane better for instance. Shaft choice can certainly improve timing though. I had all my real clubs fitted as I progressively got new ones with shafts to suit my swing, heads as well but that was more of a visual preference which helps me feel confident hitting them. The driver was the biggest change going from a regular flex to extra stiff, and about 15g heavier. Certainly helped my swing timing in order to hit longer and straighter drives. It got to a point where I had no control with the old one and I removed it from the bag for months until I could afford a new one. The temporary skill boosts I find pretty ridiculous, however if I'm gonna be competitive I may as well make use of the tools available even if they are silly.

Default ball is Spin 35, Flight 35, Bounce 65, Roll 65. They should meet in the middle and bring the Spin/Flight up and Bounce/Roll down and make it 50 across the board. They won’t though… Then they can’t make money off of these consumable balls.

I'm guessing now you'll find the green speeds on CC will be set at a speed that is comfortable with the default balls. This must make things much easier for the schedulers who set the conditions, they no longer have to consider how the trees will roll across a number of different speeds and can set appropriate speeds for each round. I agree but the default balls will possibly restrict them setting very fast greens. I played with one around 177 and it was ridiculous. 155 I've played loads with them and you just have to be careful, no issue, but game felt crackers on 177. With default ball, 155 is the new 186

Is there an update download for this patch or is it just there when you load up the game? I haven't looked at it since last night.

Great news on the ball restriction! In unrelated news, may be time for me to do a few bunker lessons... Longer slower swing than you expect, Sorted. That’s £25 please 🤣

Hmmm, sounds like a good patch. I've played 95% of my rounds thus far with the default ball, so that suits me fine. I have, however, used chipping out of greenside bunkers most of the time, with splash so horribly inconsistent. Getting back home late Tuesday and going to try to knock out the first 2 rounds in Kinetic before crashing, but it sounds like a practice session is in order first.

Ever since I did the update, every shot I hit is black fast and goes nowhere. anyone else having this issue? I just qualified for CC-A prior to the update so I know the problem isn't myself lol Recalibrate maybe?

issuing a chargeback on my card. splash shots are so broken it ruins the game.. see some of yall over at EA when it drops next spring Just go to the practice area and learn it, I struggled at first but in my career mode only used splash and eventually you figure it out, it’s hard to get it stone dead but ah well, bunkers are hazards. Just swing longer and slower

Imo the problem wasn't the different balls, it was the roll attribute. That's what should have been patched. Yep, all they had to do is delete the roll value, it would have fixed the dumb decision too add it and they could have kept the mechanic they were trying to implement. Plus we would still have some variety in play that was actually close to real life choices of ball type. 2K can't get out of it's way.
